dude already? I hoped they would wait another year before trying to make a better one. A small one would be nice though.

Oh what the heck? Making it smaller? I kinda' figured the DS was small enough as it was. Different levels of brightness is good though. I guess. As long as it doesn't lose any features (like the SP's lack of headphone jack and incompatibility with the E-reader) people who get it should be happy enough. Now bring us Metroid Prime Hunters! That's suppose to be out soon, isn't it?

Ah, yes, I heard about this rumour on Digg.com a few weeks back, and Nintendo's PR came back and said there wasn't going to be a redesign... But the rumour is indeed true.
Official Japanese press release: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n10/news/060126.html
Wikipedia article:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_DS_Lite

Obviously the major reason for the redesign is prevelant in the aesthetics and physical appearance; they're preparing for the Revolution.
The DS is almost definitely going to connect to the Rev in some shape or form, likely in the same way the GBA connected to the Gamecube. You'll note that the GBA and Gamecube shared the same colour scheme at first (notably purple with grey and black)
Therefore, it only makes sense for the DS to get a facelift and be more aesthetically similar to the next-gen console...

Methinks Apple is having an influence on Nintendo's current designs XD

I bet they'll be released in other countries in about a year or two. Which will fit since some people may need a new one around then.

More like a few months. It comes out in March- what makes you think it'll come out here in a year?

My only question is why would I want to get a DS lite when I already have a DS?

The font on the a and b buttons looks like the buttons from the Revo controller.

Other news (aka complete lies from trustable ddr child):

Nintendo and Apple merge to make...

Nipple.

Well I just dont see what makes the DS Lite so much better then the regular DS, they look the same to me. BTW why is the GBM so much better then the GBA SP?

I have a GBA, GBSP, and a GBM, and I can honestly say I like the GBM the most. Yes, I like it the most for a superficial reason - it looks better, and is easier to carry around.

In this case, however, the DS Lite actually seems to have something to offer along with being smaller than the DS. I might get one.

the only thing about the DS Lite is that its smaller and has 4 different light setting. so seeing how the light setting dose not brother me (in fact I like it) and the size of the DS is fine im probably not going to get it.

the same reasons i love the GBM. and because the screen is so small and so clear. i must say, when you play the Micro, you'll never want to go back. i mean, i played a game on Micro, then on SP... oh man, there was a definate difference.

i'm guessing with the DS Lite, the screens will be clearer than the original DS. that's probably the reason Nintendo's making it. that and they want more money.

The best thing I'm liking about this is the centered microphone. Now it can be easier for me to cheer on Rockman or inflate my baloons in MKDS Balloon Battles!!! :D But when it mentioned Wi-Fi, does that mean it has its own built-in Wi-Fi connection?? :/
