Yep, Darth's back in the fanfic business! Be afraid.
Chapter One: Prolouge
Character information:
Gaide Rei
Age: 6
A mamodo that uses light-based spells. Has short brown hair, jade eyes, wears a light yellow robe.
Craig Welson
Age: 15
Gaide’s human partner. He has blond hair and deep brown eyes. Wears a dark blue shirt, khaki jeans, and glasses.
Spells so far:
1. Hikaruk
Gaide fires a blast of light from his mouth.
Spellbook: Red
“Ha ha ha!” A resounding cry echoed through the room. “You can’t possibly hope to defeat me!”
“You bastard...” a new voice growled.
“I mean, with Mewtwo, I just can’t be beat!” the owner of the first voice boasted. He was a tall boy, about the age of sixteen. He had black hair, hazel eyes, and a bit of facial hair. He wore a blue cap, a white shirt, a gray vest, and faded blue jeans.
“Yeah, like you haven’t told me about a million times, Marcus...” the second person said, obviously sulking at his defeat at Super Smash Bros. Melee. He had blonde hair and deep green eyes and wore a dark blue shirt, khaki jeans, and glasses.
“Hey, if you want, I can always switch to Jigglypuff, Craig,” the black-haired boy, now identified as Marcus, told his friend.
“Forget it, let’s just play Mario Kart,” Craig said. He went towards the Gamecube to switch the game from Super Smash Bros. Melee to Mario Kart: Double Dash, but just as he was about to...
“Craig!” An elderly voice called from downstaris. “Could you pick up your sister from Stacy’s house today?”
“Can’t you, Grammy?” Craig called back.
“I would, but I have bingo today, and I’m already late!” his grandmother responded. “It’s just three blocks down, a decent walk.”
“I’ll do it, Mrs. Welson,” Marcus offered.
“Why, thank you, Marcus,” Grandma Welson said to Marcus. “You’re a sweet boy.”
“Hey, I gotta give Craig time to practice,” Marcus chuckled on his way downstairs.
“Shut up,” hissed Craig as he followed suit. “Since Marcus is picking up Brianna, I guess I’ll take a walk.”
“Okay, dear,” his grandmother said. She was a weatthered old woman in her early seventies, with curled, ash-colored hair. She looked at her watch. “I’m running late. I’ll see you later tonight.” And with that, she was out the door.
“Well, I guess I’d better pick Bree up,” Marcus told Craig, using the nickname they had for his friend’s sister.
“Okay, I’ll see you later.” The two boys went their seperate ways, Marcus to the left, and Craig to the right.
--------------------------------
The park was always empty at this time of night. Craig liked it when he was all alone in the park. The quiet and the open space gave him time to think. A dirt path caught his eye, one that wasn’t new to him. Smiling, he went down the path.
Craig would come here every so often when he had something to think about, be it a crush, a project, or life in general. This dirt road was one of the greatest places in the world to him. It was his own personal thinking spot, and as far as he knew, no one else knew about it.
Or did they?
As he started back down the path, Craig noticed something out of the corner of his eye. A hand sticking out of a bush. From the looks of it, a human hand. Craig ran over to the bush, rummaged through, and gasped at what he saw.
A small boy, around the age of six, was lying sprawled out on the ground. He had brown light brown hair, a light yellow robe, and was covered with several wounds. But what was really strange about him was the red book he seemed to hold. Craig took the book and looked through it. He was amazed at what he saw. Nearly all the words were written in a language he couldn’t understand, except for one highlighted in red. “Hikaruk,” he whispered, reading from the book
Suddenly, the book started to glow red. The boy’s eyes opened, showing no pupils as an orb of light fired from his mouth towards the sky. His eyes revealed themselves to be a dark jade color.
”What is this kid?” Craig thought to himself. A low groan caught his attention. It came from the boy.
“You...” he said weakly. “You’re the one...”
“Shhh,” Craig told the boy. “You need rest.”
“It’s fine...” the boy told Craig. “I’m okay.”
Craig shrugged. “If you say so.” He knelt down to the boy’s height. “Either way, try not to move too much. I’ll take you back to my place to rest a bit, okay?”
“Thank... you...” the boy replied.
“You’re welcome,” Craig told him. “By the way, what’s your name?”
“Gaide...” the boy replied. “Gaide Rei...” Gaide closed his eyes once more and instantly fell asleep. Without another word, Craig tucked the red book under his arm, hoisted Gaide onto his back, and started back down the dirt road that led him to Gaide.
Meanwhile, on the other side of town, a boy about the age of 8, and a young man around the age of 24 were standing on top of a building, watching as an orb of light ascended into the sky. The boy had turquoise hair, blue eyes, and wore a white shirt with a black vest and pants, while the man had spiky red hair, wore sunglasses and a nose ring, and a black leather jacket and cutoff jeans.
“Blake, did you see that?” the boy asked the man.
“A giant ball of light shooting up into the sky,” Blake responded. “How could anyone not see it, Giori?”
“Either way, this can only mean one thing,” Giori said.
“Right,” Blake agreed. “We found a Mamodo.”

I wasn't even aware I was writing an action scene. Go me! :D Now I can't wait to see what I come up with for Gaide vs. Giori.
Anyway, Chibi, can you point out the action scene to me? _________________

For the few of you that actually took the time to read my fic, I'm going to rewrite the first chapter. Mostly just names and spells, but that's about it.
Also, for the nitpickers, this fic takes place in an AU to the Zatch Bell anime or manga, so basically, the adventures of Zatch and Kiyo never happen. I'm telling you guys this because I'm making Gaide a lightning Mamodo, and Zaker's gonna be the first spell, but his look and first spell are all Gaide going to have in common. That, and there will be a Kolulu-esque chapter in which Gaide decides he's going to be a kind king (man, that episode was a tearjerker!).
Of course, I'm still accepting Mamodos, so PM away! _________________
