This is an EXE3 folder I used a looooong time ago. I haven't edited the folder since it was used, and even now I can see flaws that I really should have seen before. I'm mostly posting this for NotJim, but if anybody else feels like commenting, go nuts.
I used this folder in the MMBN3 tournament that occured at Otakon 2004. Overall, I placed 4th after some huge mistakes in the final elimination round after going through the primary battles without a loss. Sucks for me. x.x Oh well....
x1 Super Kitakaze A (NorthWind)
x1 Burning Cross F (Burning)
x3 Bad Spice 2 F
x1 Bad Spice 3 F
x1 Shoot Meteor F
x3 Small Jelly 2 F (MetaGel2)
x1 Flashman V4 F
x1 Flameman V4 F
x1 Fumikomi Cross P (StepCross)
x4 Rabiring 1 P (ZapRing1)
x1 Plantman V2 P
x1 Plantman V3 P
x1 Plantman V4 P
x2 Stealth Mine *
x1 Invisible *
x3 Grass Stage * <regular chip>
x3 Wood+30 *
x1 Navi Recycle *
Yeah, I hadn't really gotten into collecting chips properly at this point, so there a little bit of everything in there. But it did work for me. The main attack damage was from Plantman (piercing, multiple hits, holds... it's good). Flameman also provided a huge hit due to the grass panels. Yeah, I was obviously trying to prepare for anything. I could have sacrificed that paranoia to streamline things a bit more, I suspect.
Style used: WoodCustom
Customizer Setup: I honestly don't recall anything more than using either two Custom+1 or one Custom+2.

RE: Take It Slow
It looks like it could work, based on the logic that you're doing more damage with your 5 chips than the other guy is. I suspect you could ease off the Recovery300s though, if you wanted. _________________ (\ ºvº\ (\

1. Well, not terribly bad for an early stage folder - considering at least you try and focus everything into one theme - status effects (paralysis, confusion, etc) and multi-hitting. But since you are running 2 codes already, how about subsituting Super Kitakaze A and replacing it with a Full Custom *? This'll make your folder faster. Of course, the Flamemen go out - depending on what else you had at the time. And all of the other randomness in F code.
2. Considering Folderback is not being run in this folder, against faster folders, I'll be overwhelmed with Plantman/Flashman + other giant big attacks in the first few seconds. Recovery300 is to stem the tide against those kinds of folders while I try to set up something else - so that I don't get killed quickly. _________________

o.o; Don't I need to S-Rank to get the BlackBarrier or um, whatever it was called ..? I'm one GigaChip short - don't I get the final one S-Ranking Forte? _________________

Oopps, Got EXE 4 mixed up with EXE 5. In EXE 5 it doesn't matter. _________________

^^;; Yeah. I need to S-Rank Forte in EXE4. And besides, in EXE5, at the rate we have to defeat the DS Navis, Lord Of Chaos Forte is basically a pushover. _________________

Well, since everyone is posting an EXE 3 folder, I may as well post the one I'm using too.
Sword Y x4
Wide Sword Y x4
Long Sword Y x4
Rook * x3
Invisible * x3
Shadow * x2
Area Steal Y/* x4
Full Custom * [Preset]
Yamatoman V1 Y
Yamatoman V2 Y
Yamatoman V3 Y
Yamatoman V4 Y
Folder Return *
Style: Any Custom (Wood or Elec prefered)
Navi Customizer Setup:
[0][1][2][2][2]
[1][1][1][0][2]
[3][1][3][4][2]
[3][3][3][4][2]
[3][3][3][4][4]
0 = Nothing
1 = Buster MAX
2 = Bug Stopper
3 = Saito Batch
4 = Custom +1
Pretty much speaks for itself, Dream Swords and Yamatoman, if the enemy is using Shadow as a defense it's useless, it can break Dream Aura, Rook is there to prevent Area Stealing and with Folder Return the Dream Swords and Thousand Spears just keep coming. The customizer is pretty much the broken standard that everyone uses. |

Ahh, EXE3. Might as well.
1xFlashman F
1xFlashman2 F
1xFlashman3 F
1xFlashman4 F
4xRatton1 F
4xRatton2 F
4xRatton3 F
1xFullcust *
1xFastgauge * [PRESET]
2xInvis *
1xIceStage *
4xMetagel2 F
1xVarSword F
2xAura F
1xAtk+30 *
1xNaviRecycle *
Strategy: Self-explanatory. FlashMan for stun, HyperRat while stunned. Quick and pretty. THe Varsword is in there for a defense against Shadow users, though I'd like more of them in there (which I unfortunately don't have.)
I'd work on this folder, but I haven't had time to play EXE much anymore...any suggestions? _________________ Today, these three players are after Big Bucks! I'd say go with this personally
Take out:
Quick Gauge *
Aura F x2
Attack +30 *
Navi Recycle *
Add in:
Invisible * x1
Shadow * x2
Variable Sword F x2
Preset Ice Stage instead that way Flashman and Elemental Sonic will get an instant boost in damage, Aura isn't really needed since 100 damage is pretty easy to break in EXE 3, go with Shadow which requires the opponent to be using a sword to break. My reason for removing Attack +30 and Navi Recycle is they aren't really needed too much since Flashman and Elemental Sonic will do huge damage on ice. |

DD: Yes, pretty much your standard-fare heavy-hitter.
Midnight: Steal Jelly 2s, Auras and the Quick Gauge go out. Pre-set the Ice Stage *, put the Quick Gauge in your Navi Customizer, and have more Variable Sword Fs. Not much else I can say. _________________

...that's the problem--it basically takes three thumbs in order to do the Elemental Wave-Slash (or something which I have not mastered or plan on doing so.) I just use it for the Dreamsword ability (since that's pretty much the only thing I can do consistently...), but I can definitely work on that if I wanted to enter serious PvP matches.
But yes, I will definitely consider these alterations. I do wonder why you suggest dropping the jellies...since they serve as a defense against area lock. Also, should I consider adding another copy of IceStage *? _________________ Today, these three players are after Big Bucks! Jellies can't steal broken panels, Plus they flinch, making HyperRat somewhat useless. Put some Area Steal * s in there - if your opponent is on the front row then, he'll be stunned temporarily, making an easy 500 damage.
Yes, placing an extra IceStage * can be useful at times if your opponent changes the stage. _________________

I'm so very bored... so I rolled up a random letter and told myself to make a folder for that code. I rolled up E. Ugh...
Well, here's what I came up with XD
x3 Mark Cannon 3 E
x4 Pulsar 2 E
x4 Elec Reel 3 E
x4 Yoyo E
x4 Magnum E
x4 Stone Cube *
x2 Double Crack *
x4 Invisible *
x1 Full Custom * « Regular »
Okay... I got a crappy code, but I think there might be something worth playing around with. Maybe not super competative, but fun at least.
Use Magnum to destroy their rear column. Place a Stone Cube in their front center panel, and then use the Pulsars. Follow up with Yoyos and Elec Reels. The Elec Reels also rebound from obstacles, so the Stone Cube can be used for that as well if really needed. Perhaps add some kind of thrown obstacle? I'm not really sure. Possibly dump the Double Cracks for Attack+ chips? Maybe dump Mark Cannons for +/- chips as well to make it a Number Soul folder to get the most out of the Yoyos? Or maybe adding Shoot Meteor 2 E for more panel destruction?
Tear it apart... _________________ (\ ºvº\ (\

Hmmm. Maybe I should try this sometime. XD
Errr, you -do- need more room to place your obstacles, so perhaps remove the Double Crack *? If you are using Rockcubes, try to add AirShots and maybe a few Panel Steals - since Area Steal * s are nigh impossible to get in EXE5.
Other than that, looks... dodgily fun =p _________________

Add in Ocean Seed *, it'll make those Elec Reels do double damage making them a hell of a lot better. |

._.'' Um, wouldn't it be better to replace those Pulsar 2s with Pulsar 3s? They do more damage..
If there isn't a Pulsar 3 with E code though .. _________________

Pulse Beam 3 doesn't come in E code sadly and it's main focus for this isn't damage, it's hit on the Stone Cube is to make it stun the opponent for follow up attacks like Elec Reel 3 and Yoyo. |

I see .. if that's the thing.. *stares* ..um, then I see no use for those DoubleCrackers. You CAN place that OceanSeed to power up the Elec chips, but I think AreaSteals would be a good idea if you can get one or two of the enemy areas, place a RockCube in the middle of the stage and then Plusing it.
There's also another random thing I heard, that like, double Cubes kind of double Pulse.
[ ] [ ] [ ] | [ ] [ ] [ ]
[ ] [] [ ] | :stonecube: [ ] [ ]
[ ] [ ] [ ] | :stonecube: [ ] [ ]
See, if you hit only ONE of those cubes with Pulsar, the other one's supposed to spread pulses too 'cause its hit by the pulses from the first cube.
Not sure if it actually works though, not tried yet. _________________

No, that dual Stone Cube pulsar scenario does not work out as you describe. You still only get the single 'pulse'.
I completely agree about the DoubleCrack chips. They go out. I think I was just looking for some filler and figured they'd be a good way to further restrict movement. I don't know if the folder would really need any AreaSteals, except perhaps to counter steals from my opponent. The idea is to force them into the range of the pulses by destroying their rear column with the Magnums.
Here is a revised folder list:
x4 Pulsar 2 E
x4 Elec Reel 3 E
x4 Yoyo E
x4 Magnum E
x1 GrabRevenge F
x2 Ocean Seed *
x4 Stone Cube *
x4 Invisible *
x2 Panel Steal *
x1 Full Custom * « Regular »
AreaSteal is a pain to obtain in * code, and since the folder doesn't really need to be stealing, the Panel Steals are to offset of hinder enemy AreaSteals. The Grab Revenge in in there because I had one last chip to toss in and I couldn't decide. XD With the Ocean Seeds and the fact that the attacks of this folder cause flinching, perhaps Custom Volt 2 E would fit in?
As mentioned above, Air Shoot might have a place in this folder too. *ponders* _________________ (\ ºvº\ (\

Take out the lone Steal Revenge, and place in another Panel Steal. You don't need the WHOLE area, just somewhere to place your Stone Cubes and restrict movement. You might want to take out the Heavy Magnums and replace them with the Custom Bolts as you suggested. Other than that... not much else to suggest. XD _________________

Yeah, what ^ said, or you could try another FullCust *. That way, there's another fast returning to custom screen for you, for any random moment you'll want to execute a bunch of swift attacks. _________________
