Wow, that's some impressive imitation of the anime, then. Really, Ultimate Muscle was American made? I thought there was a manga.

Ultimate Muscle: The Kinnikuman Legacy, known in Japan as Kinnikuman Nisei (キン肉マンⅡ世), is a manga and anime series made by Yoshinori Nakai and Takashi Shimada under the pen name Yudetamago (Japanese for 'Boiled Egg'). It is the sequel to the hit manga Kinnikuman that they started in 1979. The toy line of Kinnikuman was released in North America as M.U.S.C.L.E.

The story is about Mantaro Kinniku a.k.a. Kid Muscle, the spoiled son of a superhero wrestler.

Kinnikuman Nisei was first published in the Japanese men's magazine "Weekly Playboy", aimed at the now grown-up fans of the original. Another manga aimed at children called "Kinnikuman Nisei: All Chōjin Dai-Shingeki" was published in V-Jump. The anime was first broadcast in Japan on TV Tokyo. The anime was later broadcast in America on September 15, 2002 through 4Kids Entertainment on the Fox Box (now known as 4Kids TV) and ended after two seasons.

If American companies are producing an anime based on Yugioh, then they need the consent of the creater and whoever else holds the rights to the series. Such a thing is not unheard of, as they are currently producing an actual Powerpuff Girls anime in Japan.

It seems easy to get the rights to Sonic and Ultimate Muscle because they were created almost 20 years ago. I'd imagine they're copyright has expired, so an american company could have come along and gotten permission to use their characters in their own series.

What strikes me is that the american made shows remain true to the japanese style of character design. I thought that would have been changed; anime does not get produced here in the west very much, only dubbed. Whatever sells, I guess.

What I meant is that it was comissioned like Yugioh Capsule Monsters. They also comissioned new eps of Sonic X and added scenes into Pokemon movies to cover up their bad writing

GI Joe Sigma 6 was apparently animated in Japan, yet it was still a cartoon made by the US.

I don't think making their own series would be too far, but I was pretty pissed off since 4Kids decided to practically change the whole plot in one of my favorite episodes of Ojamajo Doremi. I don't think dubbing is bad in general, but they totally edit a lot of things that are silly and cut out ongoing jokes in the series (such as Doremi's parents fighting every morning, anything that's Japanese, changing Aiko's favorite food from takoyaki into cookies, and totally ignoring the fact that Poppu becomes a witch apprentice later on in the series).

I also did not enjoy how 4Kids totally changed Tokyo Mew Mew. They made most of the characters out of character (especially Ichigo) by changing the script drastically.
