While I enjoy the EXE anime, I feel it has gone on a little longer that it needed to be, however, I think the best way to end the series would be to have the final scene showing X's capsule hidden away in Dr Hikari's lab.

Who else thinks that would be a grand finale?

Oh God, not me. ^^; I'd hate for EXE to be connected so blatantly to the X series like that.

Actually, it already is. Don't you remember in BN1 when they talk about how the world used to be run by robots, and then even in BN3, Dr Light (the one from the classic series) is revealed to be Lan's grandfather? Oh, and according to the first MMX game manual, there were no more robots around until Dr Cain found X and created the Reploids. So it already seems like Capcom has made the BN/EXE series take place inbetween MM and MMX.

Oh, and here I thought you were talking about the anime, my mistake. >.>

No, I'm pretty sure that never happened, actually...at least, it's never mentioned that Dr. Right changes his name to "Tadashii Hikari"...and I don't recall a comment about the world ever being run by robots, either, though I haven't played the game in a year or two. Mind quoting that line for me?

Indeed, the anime took a very different turn than the games did.

However, if you remember the EXE games correctly, it was pointed out that there was a choice whether to forward Dr. Hikari's research in navis, or Dr. Wily's enthusiasm in robots. It was decided that they would go with Dr. Hikari, which is why Netto's world is now so dedicated upon the development of navis. As we saw, Dr. Wily turned rebel and thus wanted to destroy the new "society", thus the WWW was born. The research of robotics was never fully realized, like it was in the Classic/X series.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm with Izu on this one, I like how the EXE series is completely on it's own. God forbid they try to link it to one of the other series, those are muddled together enough as it is.

The X Series is only connected to the EXE series by a couple of names (Zero.exe, Colonel.exe). The EXE universe, whether games or anime, is a distinct and separate alternate universe.

Hikari Tadashi is not Dr. Thomas Right.

I haven't played it in a long time either, so I'll have to look for it.

The EXE series takes place in an alternate timeline that doesn't follow the original, X, or Dash one.

Making any sort of direct connection with one of the three would just be stupid.

edit: guys what the hell how did 3 posts appear while I was writing >:(

Re-estating what Ryouko and Izumi said, EXE is too much of an alternative and independent storyline to tie it with events of the other series as closely as you want.

Tadashii is merely credited by the developing of the Network-based society, but in either case is Yuuichirou who's taken it farther up. Especialy in the anime, with the developings of the Dimensional Area and other things he pulled from his sleeves.

Also, in the anime you could say there is an 'X' of sorts in the way you're describing it, Pharaohman was 'too powerful to be released into the network' and thus locked away for a couple of decades before he was accidentaly released. Similarly to how X was in the X series.

Cept X was not a rabid psychopath bent on enslaving all of humanity. :P Though I admit the thought is rather amusing.

...yeah, I think I'm gonna have to go with the others' answers. Plus, I believe there was a Rockman series guidebook that game that came out a while ago that stated the EXE series was completely disconnected from the regular stream of Original -> X -> Zero -> Legends. I used to have a theory like this once upon a time, but it's just not working. The closest thing we've got to a connection would be the space tower in one of the later Stream episodes, and that was simply done as a reference to the new game.

I think it's supposed to make you think about what *could* have happened, without actually being directly connected to the original series and it's subsequent timeline.

It seems that way. After all, EXE was released in a time that was fairly disjoint from the other series' releases of the time, so it makes sense that EXE would be a completely alternate timeline to the events of the other Rockman series. In addition, given Wily's soliloquy at the end of EXE1, the idea of this alternate universe is very highly supported.

Though I'm not aversive to having this series eventually become connected to the rest of the Rockman realms, the way that the connections are made at this moment, namely through subtle character introductions rather than full-blown plot and story crossovers, because that preserves EXE's flavor, and I admit that's the only thing keeping me in the Rockman universe.

I would like to see something similar to the end of bn1 where megaman turnsout to be lans twin brother hub & then have an exe6 ending except having hub get a real body at the end & live normal lives after that

Of course this would be caused from some huge battle where some of the navis are deleted, perhaps some new cross fusions or some new soul unisons & possibly the return of style changes

Well, they seemed to have connected the Legends universe now, so why wouldn't they connect this one?

Mainly because Legends isn't an alternative world nor a 'what if' sort of thing. Legends was known to be connected to the other series vaguely for a long time -even before Zero series.

EXE is its own league, and follows hardly any of the pre-conceptions of Classic Rockman to want to make a 'follow up to connect it to X series events in the same way Classic and X connect'.

Makes up for a really crappy way to try to replay X series but with navis. I think if any, there could be a developement towards a more 'adult' EXE series but keeping the EXE characteristics. Trying to tie it directly with the other series would feel more of a crossover than an actual 'developement' of the story.
