If I can recall correctly, I never liked Shadow's voice actor. It sounded like he had a sore throat or something. oO

Ok, so maybe birds are cool but three new characters that are just birds? Would have been good if there was more species variety like maybe a kitty character or a panda bear ;]

That would be nice, actually. Hehe, pandas. Yeah, they've had birds around for a long time now... New little guys like kitties and pandas would be a cute addition. OR BUNNIES. =D
Then again, some people who play the Sonic games just don't like cute and fuzzy animals. ^ ^;

Shadow sounds that way in Sonic X? I suppose I should check back on those episodes as I skipped over them originally so I don't know how what his voice is really like. If the Sonic X cast is handling the voices for this "Sonic Riders" title and that Shadow is involved in some way, this could be a good opportunity for the voice actor that handled Shadow's voice in Sonic X to have a second chance at it.

In the early Sonic games, they had all of those animals that had to be rescued at the end of each zone and by defeating the Badniks and there was quite a variety. Yet, these animals were generic, with exception to the Flickys as they some character development. Since Sonic Riders is still in the early development phase, there could still be some surprises left in store for us.

The change in voice cast happens in Shadow the Hedgehog, which is coming out in a few weeks. You can DL the vids on IGN to hear how the voices sound in the game. Actually, Shadow's voice is pretty good in that game IMHO.

There might still be some surprises before Sonic Riders comes out, so we'll just have to see.

I'm gonna miss the voices of the Sonic games, especially Knuckles, who I hear sounds like Yami in SonicX. His ''Bring it on!'' in Sonic Battle was my favorite. Shadow sounded stereotype, but still cool. I'll try to catch SonicX this Saturday, to see what they sound like and cause I've never seen SonicX before.

Could somebody post two pics, one with Bean the Dynamite and the other with the green bird that looks like Bean? I'd like to see the two compared.

Dan Green does provide the voice of Knuckles in Sonic X, yet as of late particularly in these new episodes, to me, he seems to sound more like Yugi, rather than Yami. Many people did prefer the voices of the video games than those of the anime, but since the latter is replacing the former starting with Shadow the Hedgehog, it should be something that we should try to get used to.

Can't say I like the airboard idea. Though it does give the slower characters a fair chance. As for the voices, As long as Tails doesn't have the same horrible voice he did in Sonic Heroes, then I'm okay with them.

The same goes for Shadow's own game, which should be coming soon.

Boo me, I revived a dead topic.

Anyway, is anyone getting this game? I personally find this game more and more interesting, and looks awesome. While the regular trio of heroes (Sonic, Tails and Knuckles) and the gang trio, there are also some other characters that interest me. Shadow, Rouge, Cream, Amy....makes me wonder would the teams back in Sonic Heroes was going to remake again. Of course, we can always expect the Chaotix to be back again, consider their present popularity.

I really do hope they make an anime out of this. The anime trailer looks awesome.

I'm planning on getting it... Wasn't interested at first, but the gameplay trailer looks like it had quite a lot more thought put in to it than I would have expected, and all this secret character business has me interested quite a bit.

I hope to get it. I did like Sonic R even though it was kind of short. This should be fun.

I've been hearing some rumors (and a news article) that Nack/Fang the Weasel/Sniper is going to be playable.

Picked up Riders today... BEFORE YOU! HAHAHAHAHAHA! :puku:

Seriously, though...

First thing I noticed was the very, VERY nice animated intro. It's a lot different from the usual CG'd stuff Sonic fans would be used to.

Haven't really tried the Story Mode yet, as I don't think I'd be able to keep up with my present ability, so I'm getting in lots of practice in Time Attack and Free Race modes.

You start with a total of 7 characters: Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and the three new characters Jet, Wave, and Storm. From the looks of the character select screen, there's about 9 or so more to be unlocked.

By the way, Jet, Wave and Storm are working for Eggman as a band of thieves called the Babylon Rogues. According to the manual, they stole a Chaos Emerald right from under Sonic's nose prior to Eggman's announcement of the world airboarding competition.

Each character starts with a basic board that supports their own abilities. Picking up rings and keeping them to the end of a level adds them to your total. You can use your total to buy new boards from the Chao Shop.

The boards run on air, and while just zipping along the track barely consumes your supply, performing the moves and tricks necessary to stay ahead of the pack will eat big chunks out of your remaining amount. Luckily, correctly pulling off tricks will refill your air gauge, not to mention giving you a nice speed boost. But if you gamble on a high-risk maneauver and fail it, you may find yourself out of gas, so to speak. Should that happen, you'll have to hoof it to the nearest refill station, all the while everyone else will be passing you by.

The AI in this game is tough to beat, but that's expected of a racing game. But you are given a very nice way of catching up with your rivals... Namely, jumping into their slipstream and weaving back and forth to pick up momentum before zipping right by them.

The game brings back the "Leveling" system from Heroes. The more rings you get and tricks you perform, the higher your level goes. The higher the level, the more incredible stunts you can pull off. For example, as Sonic levels up, he's able to execute his infamous Spin Dash in order to move even faster.

All in all, I have to say that so far, this is one of the most satisfying racing games I've ever played. I'm sure someone else will put together a more detailed review, but this is what you get for the moment...

...Back to racing for me, though. *Flees*

*listens to ADX Rip of the game*

...Crap. Apparently, SEGA decided not to make a full version of that awesome 'Sonic Speed Rider' song.

Which is awesome.

The monkey is Aiai (sp?) from Super Monkey Ball. I heard [spoil:5c03185762]NiGHTS and Ulala[/spoil:5c03185762] are unlockables too.

Anyway, I might not get the game yet. I still need to catch up on the Sonic series. *Has yet to play Heroes or Shadow the Hedgehog yet. x_x)

Finally managed to beat story mode for the Heroes team. Shadow, Rouge and Cream are unlocked, as well as their gear.

An interesting note is that once Shadow is unlocked, you get a new type of riding equipment, the Skate-type Extreme Gear, which basically lets you air-skate through each race. It's easier to perform tricks, but harder to catch much-needed airtime.

Also unlocked is Sonic's second exclusive board, the Blue Star II, which is basically an upgraded version of his standard board.

As for new modes, well, the Story Mode for the Babylon Rogues unlocks, which has you racing through retooled versions of the original six tracks, with much harder opponents to beat. You also get Mission Mode, where you complete various trick-based missions. Pretty sure the majority of the remaining hidden characters and/or Gear come from this mode.

Although I myself haven't done it yet, it's apparant that beating the Babylon story mode unlocks Eggman, as well as the Scooter-Type Gear.
