that's not a bad team i guess
but for electric pokemon speed is the best status for battle so when i found that ampharos speed is lower than average i don't choose it as my partner....!! _________________

Ampharos is another example of an Electric-type whose speed was cut in order to round out the rest of his stats. Amphy has average stats in Speed, Physical Attack, Physical Defense and Special Defense, but above average Special Attack and HP. The HP is probably to make up for the fact that he'll take a few hits here and there. So, without further ado, here's a set for Ampharos.
Ampharos @ Quick Claw OR Brightpowder
Thunderbolt
Fire Punch
Cotton Spore OR Thunder Wave
Light Screen OR Barrier
Amphy, like so many other Pokemon of his type, was screwed over in the movepool department. He has excellent special attacking capabilites, but only one type to work with. Amphy can learn Fire Punch by trading it over to Emerald and having it learn the move from one of the old ladies at the Battle Frontier. Furthermore, this is the only non-Electr type Special Attack it can learn, meaning without it, you're down to praying to the gods that you get blessed with a special-typed Hidden Power... Moving on, Cotton Spore reduces the opponent's speed, allowing Amphy to get hits with Thunderbolt in quicker. Thuder Wave causes the enemy to be paralyzed and would also result in a quicker hit with T-Bolt for Amphy, but of course, those pesky Ground-Types will block it, as will any Pokemon like Persian or Hitmonlee that has the "Limber Ability". Light Screen and Barrier help out your party by slightly boosting defenses in your side of the field for 5 turns. Light Screen for Special Defense, Barrier for Physical Defense. Go with whichever one you feel you need. As for the item. Quick Claw lets Amphy has about a 50-50 chance of letting Amphy get the first hit in each turn, and Brightpowder works with special-typed moves to lower the opponent's accuracy after a hit. Again, completely up to you. _________________

On the contrary...

Electric-types are built for overwhelming speed, in short, to be quick-strikers. Many of them(Raichu, Magneton, Electrode, Electabuzz, Manetric), fit this to the bill. |

As for Raikou, it's stats are a bit more rounded out than most Electr types, but it still suffers from the same major problems. It's speed isn't even as great as those of Manectric or the speed god, Electrode.

My most recent team established as "Acceptable" although I'm testing one that looks like it could make it with a few more adjustments.
Clefable (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Cute Charm
EVs: 252 HP / 100 Def / 156 SDef
Hardy Nature (Neutral)
- Counter
- Encore
- Seismic Toss
- Softboiled
Ipl's clef, iirc. People underestimate this pokemon, and how annoying it can be. I built my team around using Encore to let me get easy switch ins. The idea of this set is to get them to attack you, recover off the health lost. I remember someone trying like 4 times to take it out before I Encored their Tbolt and switched in Donphan for free.
Weezing (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Haze
- Pain Split
- Sludge Bomb
- Will-O-Wisp
I prefer true hazing to phazing, so Weezing it is for me. Standard set, I just Sludge Bomb more than people seem to expect.
Vaporeon (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SAtk
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Roar
- Surf
- Wish
Roar is a back up I'm constantly thinking about changing, HP grass is a fun surprise that lets it scare Milos. It made me love wish and my current in testing team is all about it
Miltank (F) @ Leftovers ** Use Celebi
Trait: Thick Fat
EVs: 155 HP / 104 Atk / 251 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Heal Bell
- Milk Drink
- Seismic Toss
- Shadow Ball
The nickname was a note to myself, I did try celebi but didn't like it. Typical 'stupidcow' set but with shadowball over Twave for a surprise and mcgar defense.
Donphan (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 48 HP / 150 Atk / 116 Def / 196 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Ghost]
- Rapid Spin
- Rock Slide
I hated this poke for so long. I thought it was stupid, but then Igotsick of starmie and decided to give it a try. HP Ghost is for a nasty surprise for Gengar =D. I really underestimated how badly a CBed EQ from this guy could hurt things.
Raikou @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Spd / 252 SAtk
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Substitute
- Thunderbolt
Raikou's cool,. Task got me into using it, it's a lot more powerful than I previously though and my next team will be about it. Standard set, I love how its 115 base speed can outspeed Salamence and friends by 1 point without having to waste it's personality. |

I like that Vaporeon. Never knew Hidden Power was so uniquely cool. Getting grass for a water type! That's an awesome set-up for Clefairy too! Donphan as well. Hey, instead of Amphy might I suggest Electabuzz? Has high speed, and above average special and physical. HP too, I think...
You can even teach it Cross Chop if you want. It and Magmar are two of my favorite classics... never use em' though. _________________

I approve, Very well thought out... Although I can't help but ask if this is a team for Netbattle or actual gameplay. _________________

http://www.tvsian.com/netbattle/index.htm
Are the two sites to download NB. Heh, you can kinda tell who's been playing NB and who hasn't by the way they post their team. Or if they just have Hidden Power >>
Ampharos is such a cool electric type, I just wish it had Ice Punch which would make it more useful in OU. |

Personally, I just don't like Netbattle. I'd much rather play the actual games and battle the way the game meant me to, rather than just use some simulator. But that's me. =/ _________________

Oh my, I feel rather inferior in the strategy department here. I've used this team since I got Emerald, and with it I've won 23 battles, and lost four (all four against my friend's ghost team). I'm in great need for a good Swampert move set. @_@ Here we go.
Izumi/Swampert-Level 66 Mystic Water
Gentle
Water Pulse
Surf
Ice Beam
Earthquake
She's my only one with all offensive attacks, crude, but most of the time fairly effective.
Robin/Vileplume-Level 50 (need item)
Hardy
Toxic
Giga Drain
Sleep Powder
Sludge Bomb
Status inducing with Toxic or Sleep Powder, and then draining away with Giga Drain.
Serenade/Flygon- Level 64
Gentle
Dragon Claw
Crunch/Flamethrower (still deciding)
Double Team
Sandstorm
Flygon has pretty good speed, so I pretty much use him as a sweeper. >_>
Saito/Metagross-Level 50
Mild
Light Screen
Psychic
Shadow Ball
Reflect
This is my pathetic little tank. Depending on Pokemon type I use Reflect or Light Screen a couple of times, and then bash them to death with Shadow Ball or Psychic.
Sandaime/Whiscash-Level 53
Hasty
Amnesia
Surf
Earthquake
Agility
Jiraiya/Clefable-Level 71
Hardy
Metronome
Sing
Dream Eater
Return
This thing whoops so much arse. This and my Blissey (which I had before people discovered them and their superness) are my favorites to use.
Notice how most of my Pokemon's strategies end with "beat the crap out of opponents"?
EDIT: I just joined NetBattle, and it is extremely fun. @_@ So many Blisseys. My username's Kanti if you'd like to battle. _________________

Wow...that Clefable sounds dangerous. DREAM EATER? Now I'm scared. I just recently leveled up my Pupitar into a Tyranitar, so I've become much...more...deadly...>:3
Name: Tyranitar/Temari
Nature: Impish
Ability: Sand Stream
Gender: Female
Level: 55
Attacks:
Rock Slide
Bite
Crunch
Dig
One of the strongest Pokemon on the planet, she's a Rock and Dark type, which makes her formidable in her own right.
Name: Marowak/Gaara
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Lightningrod
Gender: Male
Level: 57
Attacks:
Bonemerang
Earthquake
Headbutt
Bone Rush
If I pair him up with Blastoise, electrical attacks won't affect either of them! If I pair him up with Charizard, Earthquake won't touch 'im!! And Sand Stream won't affect him, either. Oh....yeah!!!!
Name: Charizard/DjangoSP
Nature: Hasty
Ability: Blaze
Gender: Male
Level: 50
Attacks:
Flamethrower
Rock Slide
Fly
Blast Burn
Name: Blastoise/Dalaedus
Nature: Bold
Ability: Torrent
Gender: Male
Level: 51
Attacks:
Waterfall
Bite
Hydro Cannon
Surf
Name: Venusaur/Gaia
Nature: Naive
Ability: Overgrow
Gender: Male
Level: 49
Attacks:
Razor Leaf
Frenzy Plant
Cut
Solarbeam
Name: Deoxys/DNAngel
Nature: Lax
Ability: Pressure
Gender: N/A
Level: 50
Attacks:
Psychic
Psycho Boost
Strength
Superpower
Well? What're your thoughts about my FireRed team? Good, huh? _________________ I am Solar Boy Django! TAIYOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!!!!

To both Wacko and Django: Having two of the same-type move on a Pokemon is a BIG no-no except for certain cases.
To Django only: Just because a Pokemon CAN learn a move, doesn't mean that it SHOULD have that move. The FR/LG starters have those nice-looking attacks, but those attacks DO leave them open for a world of hurt. As for Deoxys (Which I'm not sure how you got unless you either hacked or are playing Netbattle), It DOES have Psycho Boost, but that comes with the hefty price of halving it's Special attack stat. For any Deoxys except the Defensive type found in Leaf Green, this is a waste of it's great sweeping abilities.
And now for some quickie movesets:
Swampert: Surf, Ice Beam, Earthquake, Rest/Double-Edge
Standard Swampert setup. It's got the HP to pull off a few Double-Edges. Surf and EQ for STAB and Ice-Beam to knock off Grass-Types. Rest is optional.
Vileplume: Sunny Day, Solarbeam, Petal Dance, Toxic/Attract
Sunnybeamer set. Vileplume's stats aren't exactly the greatest, but this is probably your best bet. Make sure you use Sunny Day right off the bat to induce Vileplume's Chlorophyll ability.
Flygon: Dragon Claw, Earthquake, Crunch, Sandstorm
Standard setup. Claw and EQ for STAB, Crunch for pure power, Sandstorm to mess with the enemy.
Metagross: Meteor Mash, Earthquake, Sludge Bomb, Agility
Meteor Mash for STABbity pain, EQ and Sludge Bomb to make use of Metagross' obscenely high physical attack power, and Agility to help with it's poor speed.
Whiscash: Ice Beam, Earthquake, Spark, Amnesia
I don't really approve of having Whiscash on the same team as Swampert, A. Because they have the EXACT same typing, and B. Because Whiscash is a weaker version of Swampert to begin with. But hey, it's your call. Ice Beam for Grass Types, EQ for STAB, Amnesia to boost SP Defense, Spark to harm other Water Types. Surf can easily replace any move here.
Clefable: Cosmic Power, Return, Sing, Dream Eater
Nightmare Clefable. Cosmic Power to help out your defenses in case Sing should fail. Sweep with the remaining moves.
Tyranitar: Rock Slide, Crunch, Flamethrower, Earthquake
Standard Tyraniboah. Crunch and Rock Slide for STABbing, Flamethrower to sweep away pesky Grass types, and EQ for pure power.
Marowak: Bonemerang, Swords Dance, Ancientpower/Rock Slide, Double-Edge
Physical Assault Marowak. Bonemerang for STAB, Swords Dance to boost Offense, A Rock move to rid yourself of Flying Types, and Double-Edge for anything else.
Charizard: Heat Wave, Dragon Claw, Fly/Aerial Ace, Steel Wing/Rock Slide/EQ
Heat Wave for dual hitting STABbity goodness, a Flying move for more STAB, Dragon Claw for pure power, and one last move left up to you.
Blastoise: Surf, Ice Beam, Mirror Coat, Counter
Walling Blastoise. Anticipate moves and nail the foe with a counter. Surf for STAB, Ice Beam for Grass types. Blastoise has the defenses to pull this off beautifully.
Venusaur: Solarbeam, Magical Leaf, Sunny Day, Leech Seed/Toxic
Sunnybeamer Fushigibana. Magical Leaf for never-miss goodness, and an annoyer move to piss people off.
Attack Deoxys: Psychic, Ice Beam/Fire Punch/Thunderbolt, Hyper Beam, Shadow Ball
Dual Sweeper Attack Deoxys. Psychic plus one other special move, along with Hyper Beam and Shadow Ball for pure sweeping goodness.
And that's that. :puku: _________________

Oooooo. Thankies Azure. I was thinking of replacing the Whiscash with another Pokemon, as after battling with it, I came to the conclusion that just because the Pokemon was good at Battle Tower; doesn't mean it'll be good on a team. _________________

Salamence is one hell of a tough customer, no two ways about it. It's got above average stats in Defense, Special Defense, and Speed. Add to that extremely high stats in HP and Special Attack, and a "Through the Roof" score in Physical Attack, this dragon can be a great sweeper for any team.
Moving on, here are two possible movesets for our Dragon buddy.
Salamence @ King's Rock
Dragon Dance, Earthquake/Double-Edge, Rock Slide, Aerial Ace/Fly
First up is physical sweeper Salamence. As I stated before, Salamence's pure physical power is INCREDIBLE. In general it will usually be in the neighborhood of 50 points higher than it's already high Special Attack. As for the moveset itself, we've got Dragon Dance to give it a swift kick in the speed and attack departments, EQ or D-E as a power move, Rock Slide to hand the occaisional Flying or Ice switch-in, and a Flying move for some STAB.
Next up:
Salamence @ Brightpowder
Dragon Claw, Flamethrower, Aerial Ace/Fly, EQ/D-E/RS
Mixed Sweeper Salamence. While it's Special attack is wholly usable, it's not quite as effective as it's Physical attacking power. Dragon Claw for STAB as well as to injure other Dragons, Flamethrower to deal with those pesky Ice-Types, A Flying move for more STAB and your choice of Earthquake, Double-Edge or Rock Slide to fill the last slot. All of them work well here. _________________
