These last two chapters were okay. Personally, I thought you could have done a lot more with the desert pyramid field. Like using those tools you mentioned as more than just a distraction. Same with the minotaur; you could've used that bull-headed beast for more than just a shot at Netto. The 2nd chapter did seem a bit one-sided, I agree. Shame Colonel didn't win, as that would have been a huge surprise. That new PA was pretty awesome though! I still wish Shun (Sean) had won against Netto; that would have also been pretty amazing! Good chapters, but I hope the final battle of the tourny is amazing. It has a lot to make up for.

And again you return to the premise of "borrowing" from other animes--the premise of this entire combat was based off a YGO arc...

I have to echo the points of the previous readers--this was quite one-sided. The only redeeming thing was the final PA, and even then it seemed to be way too glitzy for its own good.

It seems that the next chapter is the final one of this arc, and given that it's not very difficult to know who will triumph at the end of it, I for one am not looking forward to it.

And how exactly does that counter my point? The way it was written, the chips are slotted in, one at a time. My gripe still stands.

CHAPTER 3-74
The Final Match!

All over the world, people were gathered around television sets and computers with access to television as they waited in anticipation for the greatest NetBattle of all time: the final match of the Battle Network tournament. Over on the island where the finals were taking place, Lan sat on the beach looking out to sea as he pondered his upcoming bout.

“It’s finally come down to this, he mumbled to himself, “It’s me and MegaMan against Saiba and Omega X.”

“We’ve seen how much power those two can pack,” MegaMan piped up from his PET, “I hope we can beat them.”

“So do I,” Lan replied as he took out his PET and looked at his Navi, “We’ll do our best to beat them. We have to bring them down. Otherwise, the whole purpose of entering this tournament will be defeated.” He took out the FreezeBomb and GoldFist from Tory and Dex out of his pocket and looked at them.

“If there’s ever been a time where I could use my friends’ help, it’s definitely now.” He placed the chips into his folder and got up.

“Lan!” The brunet turned at the mention of his voice and got a very unexpected surprise. Everyone, save for Saiba’s crew, were standing before him, including Higsby.

“What are you guys doing here?” he asked.

“Lan, we heard you talking to MegaMan,” Maylu answered as she walked toward him, “We’re all here for you. Everyone came to support you.”

“And we also came to give you something to help you in your battle,” Chaud added. Lan blinked and then noticed that Maylu was holding her hand toward him. He looked into her palm and saw her Sanctuary chip.

“Take it, Lan,” she said quietly.

“I can’t, Maylu,” Lan answered.

“Don’t think of it as a chip. Think of it as a piece of me placed into your folder.”

“But Maylu, I…”

“Oh for crying out loud!” Noah walked ahead and stood between Lan and Maylu, “You two aren’t fooling anyone. Sure, you broke up but deep down you still have feelings for each other. There’s still something between you two. So stop hiding your true feelings and just put an end to this pointless charade!”

“You know, he’s right,” Lan whispered to Maylu, “When we broke up, I said I didn’t want you to get hurt. But I guess I was really talking more about myself.”

“But you meant well, Lan,” Maylu whispered back, “If you really had stopped loving me, then you wouldn’t have been so worried. Not even close friends feel the same way about each other as we did.”

“Do,” Noah corrected.

“And again, he’s right,” Lan sighed, “Who are we fooling besides ourselves, Maylu?”

“I guess we’ve both been fools.” There was a moment of silence between the two before they closed the gap between their faces and their lips met.

“I hate to interrupted this romantic moment, but we’ve still got Saiba to deal with,” Sean reminded them. Lan regretfully pulled away from Maylu and took her Sanctuary.

“Thanks, Maylu. Now you’ll be there for me both in the battle and on the sidelines.”

“Hey, don’t forget about the rest of us!” the others called out.

“You’re going to need good chips, Lan,” Yai said in a matter-of-fact tone, “Here, take my HeroSword with you, too.”

“Take my Z-Saber, Lan,” said Chaud.

“Use my LockOn3,” Laika added.

“Make use of this ElecGospel, Lan,” said Sean.

“You can use my Gun Del Hell,” offered Noah.

“Muramasa will also be a good chip to have,” informed Dark.

“Here’s a NumberBall chip straight from my shop,” Higsby added, “No charge necessary.”

“Take this Leaders Raid, Lan,” Baryl ordered, but in a requesting sort of tone.

“Needle Cannon will help you in this fight,” Miss Yuri added.

“Take my HolyDream,” offered Mamoru.

“My Navi chip will summon my spirit to fight by your side,” Zero guaranteed.

“You guys…” Lan gratefully accepted all the chips and shuffled them into his folder, “Thanks, everyone. This means a lot.” He looked at his folder and smiled.

With strength and spirit of all my friends in this folder, I can’t lose! he thought, Saiba, you’re going down!

“Let’s give three cheers to Lan!” shouted Noah, “Hip hip!”

“Hurray!”

“Hip hip!”

“Hurray!”

“Hip hip!”

“Hurray!”

“Now go take Saiba out once and for all!” Chaud said encouragingly.

“We’ll all be there with you!” Sean assured.

“Don’t worry, everyone. We’ll make sure we bring an end to Saiba and the Crest of Arcadia!”

Higsby walked into the studio and took his set next to Ribbita. He looked over toward Lan and gave him an assuring nod.

“Here we go, people!” the producer announced, “We’re on in three, two, one!”

“Welcome to DNN News bringing you live coverage of the Battle Network finals!” greeted Ribbita, “I’m Ribbita Midorikawa.”

“And I’m Higsby Yamitarou.”

“Well, the moment you’ve all been waiting for has finally come!” Ribbita said excitedly, “The final match of the Battle Network tournament has come. The winner shall be crowned the champion and the loser, well, won’t.”

“Our NetBattlers are already on location in the battle zone,” Higsby reported, “Today, we unveil the field that they’ll be battling on!”

“Throughout this tournament, our competitors have battled across impressive landscapes, each with their own unique features and dangers! And now to bring you the secret battlefield.”

“It’s called the Spiraling Heavens!”

“And what better place for it to be set than the highest point on the island?”

The cameras turned to the island’s mountain and both Lan and Saiba stood at the summit staring at each other with the wind whipping through their hair.

“Jack in!! MegaMan, power up!”

“Jack in!! Omega X, power up!”

MegaMan and Omega X appeared inside the battle grid and looked around. The entire field was nothing but a massive cloud that kept spinning at a steady pace.

“I’ve been looking forward to this match for a long time, MegaMan,” Omega X sneered.

“Your terror ends here, Omega X!” MegaMan declared. He and his opponent stared daggers into each other’s eyes and took up their battle stances.

“Battle routine, set!”

“Execute!”

BATTLE START

“Mega Buster!” MegaMan morphed his hand into his buster and quickly fired several rounds. He succeeded in landing several hits on Omega X before he could receive the Crest of Arcadia.

“Crest of Arcadia Battlechip in, download!” Saiba slammed his chip into his PET and his Navi donned his holy armor.

“X Buster!”

“Mega Buster!”

Their shots intercepted one another and Omega X took flight. He hovered over the lower clouds and looked down at his opponent. Lan opened up his folder and grabbed a chip, “HeroSword Battlechip in, download!” MegaMan’s right hand transformed into a brown hilt and an elegant blade sprouted forth.

“Go, Lan!” shouted Yai.

* * *

MegaMan leapt into the air and sliced with Yai’s HeroSword. Omega X flew back and he missed completely, but that didn’t stop him. As soon as he landed, he jumped right back up and slashed again. This time he was able to land a hit on his opponent and he delivered another one when he stabbed Omega X’s arm.

“X Buster!” The hovering Navi fired a shot and it hit MegaMan in the back.

“It’s fine, MegaMan. It’s fine. This is good.” Lan slotted in Medi Soul and watched as his Navi transformed. MegaMan got up and threw two Medi Capsules at his opponent and then used Healing Ball to steal some of his health. He then reverted back to his normal form and stood ready.

“NumberBall Battlechip in, download!”

“NumberBall!” MegaMan raised his hands over his head and several bingo balls with the number ninety-nine on them rose out of the clouds before him one at a time and shot toward Omega X. They hit him in a continuous barrage of ten balls before the attack finally ceased.

You’re doing very well, Lan, thought Higsby, You’ve grown into a fine young man.

* * *

“CustomVolt3 Battlechip in, download!” MegaMan’s hand morphed into a charger and he opened fire on his opponent.

“Arcadian Lightning Battlechip in, download!” Omega X raised his arms and bolts of white lightning surged out from his fingertips and intercepted his opponent’s attack. The two of them fought to overpower the other’s strength, but neither one of them seemed to be willing to give up.

“MegaMan, Style Change!” commanded Lan. There was a flash of light and MegaMan made a quick transformation into Hub Style. He poured more power into his attack and pushed back the Arcadian Lightning. Omega X immediately responded by adding more power to his own bolts.

“Zero Battlechip in, download!” Zero dropped down in front of Omega X and raised his Z-Saber.

“Zet Saber!” The blond swordsman delivered three powerful sword slashes to the Arcadian NetNavi and MegaMan’s CustomVolt3 was able to push the Arcadian Lightning all the way back and hit Omega X.

“Rain from Heaven Battlechip in, download!” Saiba inserted a chip and watched as his NetNavi unleashed a massive bombardment of holy energy. MegaMan raised his barrier and shielded himself from the attack.

“Hub Buster!” He dropped his protective shell and began firing with his buster. Omega X flew back and forth with speed that gave off the illusion that he was teleporting all over the field and dodged the blasts.

“Fist of God Battlechip in, download!” Saiba’s Navi clenched his fist, which was glowing white and flew down toward his opponent. MegaMan jumped back and his punch hit the ground. He immediately dashed after him and they flew down the long spiral of clouds. He finally managed to catch the radiant Navi off guard and slammed his fist into his back. He flew after him for another punch and his face met with a GoldFist. MegaMan immediately shoved him away with his other hand and kicked his opponent in the stomach before leaping back onto his feet. Lan sent in a QuadNeedle and the power of HubStyle upgraded it to the Arrows Program Advance. MegaMan aimed his bow at Omega X and fired ten arrows before firing a Charged Hub Shot. Saiba sent his Navi his Havoc Wings and the armored Navi used his glowing appendages to deflect the projectiles away.

“Acadian Inferno Battlechip in, download!” Eight lines of flames spread out from Omega X in different directions and a fiery dragon head rose up from each. They roared and launched themselves at MegaMan. They closed in on him and snapped their jaws down over his limbs. The radiant warrior screamed in pain and Omega X grinned evilly as a ninth dragon head ten times larger than the others rose up from under him and engulfed the trapped Navi. MegaMan cried out as he was thrown all the way down the clouds and landed far away. Fortunately, Lan was able to send him two Recover200 chips.

“Sanctuary, HolyDream Battlechip in, download!” The clouds in MegaMan’s immediate area changed to Holy Panels and his hand morphed into a turquoise blaster. As Omega X flew towards him, he gathered up the power from the Holy Panels into his weapon. When he came within range, he unleashed a massive ball of holy energy that completely engulfed Omega X.

“Transcendent Sword Battlechip in, download!”

“Z-Saber Battlechip in, download!”

The two combatants rushed at each other and their swords collided. Saiba sent in Arcadian Saber and a second sword appeared in Omega X’s other hand. Likewise, Lan sent in Muramasa and gave his NetNavi a second blade of his own. Their battle raged on as the two of them leapt off the spiraling clouds and making slashes at each other with every chance they got.

“Taste my blades!” shouted Omega X as he swung both swords at his opponent. MegaMan blocked them with the Z-Saber and countered with the Muramasa, cutting the other across his stomach.

“Transcendent Wings of Arcadia Battlechip in, download!” A third pair of wings appeared on the Crest of Arcadia and filled Omega X with new power. He kicked MegaMan in the groin and flew back to build up a giant ball of energy in his hands.

“Wrath of God!”

“Sorry Omega X, but that won’t work.” MegaMan grinned and got up. He had managed to manipulate his barrier so that it covered his crotch right before impact. With Omega X now a distance away, he expanded his barrier until it surrounded his entire body before launching himself at the Wrath of God. He crossed his arms before his chest and swung out with both swords, cleaving through the massive attack, and heading straight for Omega X. Before his opponent could react, he had his blades crossed right in front of his neck.

“All I have to do is pull my arms apart and slice your head off.”

“You’re a fool, MegaMan!” Omega X sliced up with his swords, knocking MegaMan’s away from his neck and chopped down on his shoulders. He pulled away and threw his Arcadian Saber at him.

“Omnislash!” The sword split into ten copies and surrounded MegaMan in a ring.

“Oh no you don’t.” The shimmering NetNavi strapped his weapons to his hip and the first sword shot toward him. He leapt aside and caught it by the hilt. The next one came and he did the same. Before long, he had managed to catch eight swords between his fingers and the last two in his mouth. He turned to Omega X and unleashed the blades on him, causing the swords’ user to receive the hits from the Omnislash instead. He then took hold of his Z-Saber and Muramasa again and jumped up. He appeared in front of Omega X and slashed him several times with the two swords. His opponent slammed into the ground and he landed gracefully behind him.

“Arcadian Healing Battlechip in, download!” There was a loud buzz and a poisonous miasma suddenly surrounded Omega X and choked him.

“What happened?” demanded Saiba.

“A little trick I took from Sean,” Lan explained, “I used an AntiRecover without announcing it.”

* * *

“Way to go, Lan!” Sean cheered.

* * *

“We’re not out yet,” Saiba growled, “Harpuia, Phantom, Fefnir, Leviathan Battlechips in, download!”

“Program Advance: Neo Arcadia!” The four Navis appeared in front of Omega X and charged toward MegaMan. Harpuia slashed him with his lightsabers, Phantom sliced him with his shuriken, Fefnir slammed him headfirst into the ground, and Leviathan stabbed him with her spear before Omega X unleashed a powerful explosion of holy energy. When all was over, MegaMan laid there and back to his normal form.

“This isn’t good,” Lan mumbled. Omega X landed and walked over to his opponent.

“I’m going to end this now!” he declared as he charged up his buster for a final attack.

“Not while there’s still breath in my body!” MegaMan swore as he slowly got up, critically injured.

How do we defeat them? Lan asked himself mentally.

“You fight the light with darkness,” a voice inside his head said. An icon flashed in the corner of Lan’s PET display and he instantly recognized it as Bass’.

“MegaMan, we still have a chance!” he yelled to his Navi, “Prepare for a super power up!” He touched the icon and it instantly formed into a ball and flew onto the battlefield. It struck MegaMan and entered his body. A bright light surrounded him and he cried out.

“Bass may not be here in body, but his spirit is also here!” Lan shouted. The light finally subsided and floating before Omega X was Bass Cross MegaMan.

“Now it gets really interesting,” Sean said to himself.

* * *

Bass Cross MegaMan’s fist connected with Omega X’s face and sent him flying down the long spiraling cloud tunnel. He flew after him and dealt a powerful kick to his side.

“X Buster!” The white-armored Navi called on his default weapon and started firing at his opponent. MegaMan dashed left and right as he approached his target and avoided every shot.

“LockOn3 Battlechip in, download!” As MegaMan continued his attack, a satellite appeared overhead and targeted Omega X. The crosshairs turned read the moment they locked on and the floating obstacle unleashed machinegun fire on the target. The attack missed as he flew away, but that only resulted in him leaping right into MegaMan’s path.

“Machinegun Buster!” The Black Shadow empowered Navi took aim and fired a rapid barrage of buster fire.

“Arcadian Symphony Battlechip in, download!” Saiba slipped an Obstacle-type chip into his PET and a white Tromby-like virus appeared. A loud fanfare exploded from its mouth and shook the battlefield.

“What’s he doing?” demanded Lan.

“It’s really amazing,” Saiba explained, “Arcadian Symphony inflicts all status ailments used by the Tromby virus family: invulnerability, paralysis, blindness, and confusion.”

“All at once?”

“All at once.”

Lan bit his lower lip and looked at his PET display. True to Saiba’s words, MegaMan was now paralyzed, blinded, and confused while a green aura protected Omega X’s body. He looked at his remaining chips and thought carefully. He still had the ones that Tory, Baryl, Noah, Sean, and Miss Yuri had given him plus several of his own, but he wasn’t sure how he could use them while his Navi was unable to move. Just then, an idea struck him and he looked to see of he had what he needed. Sure enough, he did and he immediately slotted it into his PET.

“Soul Unison: Junk Soul Battlechip in, download!” MegaMan transformed into Junk Soul and his special ability kicked in. Omega X was knocked into a daze and the emerald-eyed Navi quickly held up his hand and used Poltergeist. The Arcadian Symphony was lifted into the air and slammed into its user. With the obstacle now gone, MegaMan changed back to Bass Cross and fired his Tri Buster, hitting his opponent multiple times in the chest.

“FreezeBomb Battlechip in, download!” A blue bomb appeared in MegaMan’s hand and he threw it at his opponent. It exploded on impact and covered the target in ice.

“We’re not beat yet!” shouted Saiba, “Omega X, break free!” There was a loud rumbling and Omega X’s fist broke out from the ice, but it had given Lan the time he needed to slot in Needle Cannon and allow his Navi to fire multiple spikes at his opponent.

“Gun Del Hell Battlechip in, download!” Noah’s Dark Gun chip appeared in MegaMan’s hand and he fired several dark shots at Omega X.

“X Buster!” The winged NetNavi countered with several of his own shots and intercepted the blasts, causing several chaos explosions all around the battlefield.

“Mode Change!” MegaMan crossed his arms in front of his chest and all of his gold changed to silver, “Bass Cross MegaMan Silver!” He continued his Gun Del Hell attacks and Omega X continued to counter them. When the battery on the Dark Gun was finally used up, he discarded it and formed two sawblades of dark energy around his arms.

“Hell’s Rolling!” MegaMan thrust his hands out and the discs rolled off and sped along the ground to Omega X. The white-armored Navi flew up into the air, but the Hell’s Rolling followed and sliced up on either side of his body.

“Leaders Raid Battlechip in, download!” Lan sent in the chip and summoned ProtoMan and Colonel to the field. They both turned to face Omega X and unleashed a combo of StepSword and Cross Divide. The combined attack hit the target dead-on and Lan finally prepared to slit in the last of his friends’ chips.

“Here comes the big one, MegaMan. But with Bass Cross, you should be able to handle it,” he said, “ElecGospel Battlechip in, download!” MegaMan took aim with the Gospel head his operator had equipped him with and fired a powerful yellow electric blast at his opponent that completely engulfed him. He lowered his weapon and it disappeared.

“Now to finish the job once and for all!” MegaMan put his hands together and charged up a massive amount of dark energy.

“Fight the light with darkness. Let’s do it, MegaMan!” shouted Lan.

“DARKNESS OVERLOAD!” A massive blast of darkness erupted from MegaMan’s hands and it hit Omega X with maximum force. He lowered his arms and slouched over, completely exhausted.

* * *

“It’s finally over,” Chaud said with relief.

“We finally beat Saiba and the Crest of Arcadia,” Sean thought out loud. A few snickers caused him to turn his head to the other side of the room.

“What are you guys so happy about?” he demanded from Waya, Greg, and Diana.

“Well, I don’t know how to tell you this tactfully,” Nicol started, “so I’ll just let Greg blurt it out thoughtlessly.”

“Lan and MegaMan suck!” shouted the black-clad fanatic.

“This match isn’t over yet,” Waya said mischievously, “Saiba and Omega X are still in the game!”

* * *

Lan and MegaMan were completely horrified when Omega X emerged from the smoke completely unscathed.

“Don’t you get it?” Saiba laughed, “You can’t beat us no matter what you do. Omega X, end it. End of the World Battlechip in, download!” Omega X charged up his weapon and fired. The massive blast blew MegaMan all the way down the cloud tunnel and he hit the very end of it. He dropped to the ground and fell out of Bass Cross.

Even with Bass Cross, we couldn’t beat Omega X, Lan thought, So now how are we supposed to beat him? He watched helplessly as Omega X flew toward MegaMan and picked him up by his throat.

“I’m not just going to log you out, MegaMan,” he said darkly, “I’m going to delete you.” He charged his X Buster and pressed it right against the blue Navi’s head. Lan closed his eyes and screamed his NetNavi’s name.

“MEGAMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNN!!!”

An explosion suddenly rocked the entire mountain and both Lan and Saiba looked toward the direction from which it came. Omega X also stopped his attack and dropped MegaMan.

“What was that?” he asked.

“We’re about to find out,” Saiba answered. From the smoke, the robot copy of Shuryou Gospel emerged.

* * *

“That’s my old Shuryou suit!” exclaimed Sean.

“It’s a robot copy of it, Sean,” Laika corrected.

* * *

The Shuryou copy held out its hand and a laser shot out from its fingers into the system. Several pixels came together and deposited Bass onto the Spiraling Heavens battlefield with Gospel right behind him.

“Bass!” Lan exclaimed, “What are you doing here?”

“I sensed his presence,” Bass replied before turning away from the other two Navis, “Come out!”

There was another explosion and from the smoke emerged the Lord Viron robot.

“That’s my Lord Viron bot!” shouted Noah.

* * *

The rainbow-haired machine stepped forward and a red laser shot out into the console. A white-haired Navi in black cloak appeared and looked at Bass.

“Is that…Fortissimo?” gasped Lan.

“It was a very clever plan,” Bass said as he and Fortissimo faced each other, “This tournament. Weed out the weak and absorb only the strongest NetNavis.”

“I’m impressed you followed me, Bass,” Fortissimo replied, “True, my plan was to absorb the winner of this tournament but now that you’re here I see that I only need your power.” He tossed his cloak over his shoulders and unsheathed his Masamune. He gripped the hilt tightly and leapt at Bass.

“Dark Arm Blade!” The Dark Messiah formed two jagged blades in his hands and deflected the UltraNavi’s blade.

“Saiba, I know this is the final match of the tournament, but I highly suggest we jack out now,” Lan called across the summit to his opponent.

“For once we agree on something. But I still technically win this match and this tournament.” Saiba and Lan quickly logged out Omega X and MegaMan and headed back to the others while Bass and Fortissimo duked it out.

“Hell’s Rolling!” Two dark discs rolled across the ground and Fortissimo destroyed them with a single slice of his sword.

“Nova Force!” A giant ball of chaos energy built up in the white-haired Navi’s hand and he threw it at his opponent. Bass flew out of the way and the attack hit the end of the tunnel, rocking the mountain even more. The two of them broke out of the battlefield and took their fight across the island’s systems.

* * *

Noah latched onto Maylu screaming for help as all the electronic devices began to explode.

“This isn’t good,” Chaud observed, “At this rate, Bass and Fortissimo are going to destroy this island.”

“We have to leave this place now!” shouted Baryl. Lan and Saiba burst into the room and turned to everybody.

“Lan, we have to leave this place now!” Maylu shouted over the commotion.

“Right. Let’s go, everyone! Head for the plane!”

Everyone grabbed their bags off the floor, since they were going to leave right after the final match anyway, and headed out.

“Abandon island!” screamed Higsby as he ran as fast as his legs would carry him.

* * *

Bass and Fortissimo burst into the Underground Inferno battle grid and leapt to opposite sides of the fiery pit.

“Darkness Overload!”

“Nova Force!”

The two attacks met in the center and destroyed the battlefield, triggering the failsafe on the magma control system to fail.

* * *

“This is really bad!” Laika exclaimed, “Bass and Fortissimo have just taken out the system that keeps the magma in check. At this rate, the volcano is going to erupt!”

“Everyone on the plane!” shouted Baryl. He picked Noah up off his feet, tucked him under his arm, and ran as fast as he could. Everyone quickly piled into the plane and sat down.

“Where’ the pilot?” asked Yai, “We can’t leave without a pilot to fly this thing!”

“I found the pilot!” Kain called from outside, “He’s dead!”

“Does anyone here know how to fly a plane?!” screamed Diana.

“Laika, you know how to, right?” asked Lan.

“Only fighters, not commercial airline planes,” Laika replied.

“We’re all gonna die,” Greg said in a Rattrap sort of way.

“Wait a second.” Sean turned to Yai, “Yai, can’t you just call your servants and have them send help?”

“Great idea, Sean!” Yai kissed her boyfriend on the lips and quickly called her mansion. Within minutes, a pink jet appeared and landed on the runway.

“Everyone, hurry up!” shouted Miss Yuri.

“Women and children last!” Greg yelled as he ran ahead.

“Screw you, Greg!” cried Noah.

Everyone quickly boarded Yai’s jet, which had been outfitted with extra seating for everyone.

“We’re ready to go,” the maid piloting the craft announced.

“THEN GET US OUT OF HERE!!!!” shouted everyone. The jet took off and left the island behind.

“Gospel, Soul Unison with me!” commanded Bass. Gospel leapt forward and fused with its master and they became Bass Gospel Soul.

“Supernova!” Fortissimo summoned a sun and closed his hand into a fist, causing it to explode.

“Vanishing World!” Bass took aim with Gospel’s head and unleashed a massive energy blast. There was an explosion of unfathomable proportions and pieces of the mountain broke off and lava started flowing out onto the island’s surface. Before long, everything had been reduced into a molten inferno.

Lan looked out the window back at massive cloud of smoke that had formed over the island and leaned back in his seat.

“So that’s it then,” he said to no one in particular, “The Battle Network tournament has finally come to an end.”

“So who won?” asked Sean.

“We didn’t finish the match, but technically Saiba won.” Lan sighed and hung his head, “I’m sorry, guys. I failed you.”

“Hey Lan, it’s okay,” Noah reassured him.

“Yeah. I mean, it’s not the end of the world,” Yai added, “right?”

“Well, who knows what Saiba and his crew are planning next,” Lan sighed, “Saiba claimed victory, so now he can do anything he wants. And whatever it is, you can be sure it’s not going to be good.” When nobody said anything else, Maylu quickly decided to change the subject.

“What about Bass and Fortissimo?” she asked, “Weren’t they still fighting when the volcano erupted?”

“Somehow, I don’t think we’ve seen the last of them,” Lan replied. He looked back out the window and watched as the island disappeared beyond the horizon. There was no denying it now. The Battle Network tournament was officially over.

What I've read in this chapter, I would never forget. This is actually the first time that I've read your fic with Forte Cross RockMan (or Bass Cross MegaMan) in it. Not to mention the way that you've got every supporting character of the fic is good. Not only that, but it was good that both Lan and Maylu kiss and made up like that. Well, I'm impressed that you were able to get in both Bass and Fortissimo into the story like that. Not to mention on how you were able to take the battle with those two to the maximum. Well, in either case the battle was good and the battle field that you've chose for it wasn't bad either. Not to mention the fact that it has a good and funny ending as well as a good plot to go in through. Well, in either case, it was good and I hope that when you finish this fic by the final or who knows how many seasons, you'll go out with a bang. Well, later and keep up the good work.

I hope to god that wasn't the last chapter in season 3. Not only was the whole thing full of cliches, it was also extremely boring. Seriously, Rock suddenly gains the ability to go FCR at will? He also has control over his mind? Then there's Fortissimo, where the hell did he come from? This chapter was extremely lacking, to say the least.

Well... I've been bouncing in and out of this fic, and none of it's been pretty. But this last chapter was extremely weak to say the least.

There were way too many cliche's in this one.

The battle between Lan and Saiba was just... sad. None of it was really interesting, one or two spots caught my attention, a few instances were just plain unbelievable, and none of it really felt like it was worth the read.

FCR came out of nowhere and made absolutely no sense. You can't bring out a previous move like that and expect us to buy it, the way that FCR was used felt like a cop-out. And the fact that it failed didn't help that situation anyway.

Bass and Fortissimo came out of nowhere and really, really weren't needed. It felt too reminiscent of the ending to the N1; and that just ruined what little momentum the chapter had.

Overall... 3/10

Very boring towards the start; I nearly fell asleep. The romantic moment certainly jumped out of nowhere (although I suppose you were going to build to it eventually), as did FCR. And boy was the whole Fortissmo thing confusing. And where did Gospel suddenly appear from?
I liked your previous chapter better than this, and the one before that better than that one (and on and on and on).
I guess you went out with a bang for the finals... I sure hope the next chapter knocks my socks off.

Edit: The location also made me dizzy. Also, to Webbuilder. Maybe not a 3/10. That's a little harsh; maybe a 4/10?

Well that was...boring. However, you've captured my interest for what happens next, despite it probably being obvious. I hope your next season is better, and not a complete rip off of EXE6,5, or legends or something like that

You do not understand the point of FCR, and FCR appearing makes no sense and does not fit in with how FCR works.[spoil:90e49f99b6] FCR was used in a dire situation between Rockman and Forte as a last ditch effort to try to save the world[/spoil:90e49f99b6] Not to be used as some 'tool'

That was probably the dumbest thing you have ever done in this fic, short of giving the characters the ability to use Full Syncro as some card trick. I really will be pissed if you turn FCR into Another Full Sync, Hub Style, and Soul Unions.

And the tournament comes to a close. Went out with a whimper this did, sadly enough.

The final combat was anything but exciting, and Web got a lot of the points nailed down. There may have been one or two good parts, but I found myself skipping through the chapter as I usually do.

Where the hell did FCR come from? I know it's in your pool of ideas that have yet to be used, but the way you use them is almost demeaning to them. That had absolutely no reason to exist there, and I just wasn't impressed at all.

Furthermore, it seems that a lot of the combat was somewaht ambiguous at times, and you often throw descriptions meant for Megaman at Omega X, and vice versa. There are also parts that you have nearly impossible things happening with the way you describe the attacks from the chips, much like the example I pointed out two chapters ago.

And the concept where Fortissimo appears...the supposed "plot twist"--seems oddly familiar. How coincidental it must be to appear JUST like the Dartz arc from YGO--with the tournament, the "absorption of the strong"...you get the picture.

I do have to give you a bit of credit, though, for ending the tournament the way it happened. At least it didn't make itself almost COMPLETELY predictable.

And Mugen--4 is not much better than 3. And since Web put down a number, I'll put down one of my own--it's not very pretty either.

CHAPTER 3-75
Alpha of Omega

After the end of the Battle Network tournament, life suddenly seemed to go back to normal. Classes continued as though nothing had ever happened and there was no word about Saiba or any of his teammates anywhere. Even Greg had stopped coming to classes so there was no sign of him anywhere on campus.

“I swear, it’s like they’ve completely disappeared,” Lan said one night as he and the others ate dinner.

“I checked the files at Nicol’s school and any record of him ever attending has been completely erased,” Chaud replied.

“And Greg’s been completely erased from the university’s files, as well,” Noah added.

“Say Lan, didn’t Greg give you the address to his apartment at the beginning of the year?” asked Maylu.

“Hey, you’re right! I totally forgot about it!” exclaimed Lan.

“You mean to tell us that you knew all along where these guys lived and you never even told us?!” exclaimed Tory.

“Well, you never asked.”

“Okay, fair enough.” Lan got up from his seat and went to his room. He returned one minute later holding the piece of paper on which Greg had written the address and phone number. Chaud took it from him and looked it over.

“We should investigate this.”

On Saturday, Chaud and Laika followed the address to the apartment. Lan had to work so he was unable to make it and Sean was busy finishing up a project for one of his classes. When they arrived, they knocked loudly on the door but no one answered.

“This is definitely the place,” Chaud said as he rechecked the piece of paper.

“Can I help you?” Chaud and Laika turned around and saw a man in his fifties standing on the stairs, apparently the landlord.

“Yes, you can,” Laika answered, “Do you know where the people who live in this apartment are?”

“No one lives in there,” the landlord replied.

“Can we see the inside at least?” asked Laika.

“Sure.” The landlord stepped past the two Net Saviors and inserted the master key into the lock and opened the door. Laika and Chaud stepped in and looked around. The apartment was completely bare save for anything that was fixed in place. Chaud wandered into Nicol’s old room and looked around. Nothing.

“Is this the right place?” asked Laika.

“It’s definitely the right address,” Chaud replied as he looked at the paper again. The two of them search around but found nothing. After an hour, they left and headed back.

“It’s like they vanished from existence altogether,” Laika thought aloud.

Noah had completely occupied the entire kitchen table with his books and binders as he studied for his exams.

“Noah, can you please clear the table?” asked Maylu.

“Sorry. Studying,” was the only reply she got. Out in the living room, Tory was watching the news. The hype of the Battle Network tournament had already died out and things were just going on as normal.

It’s already been over two months since Lan and others got back from the finals, he thought, Maybe it’s just the stress of upcoming final exams, but I can’t help but feel that there’s impending doom just up ahead. As if on cue, Ribbita suddenly came through with a breaking news story.

“This just in! One-eyed NetNavis are appearing worldwide and are attacking!”

“Guys, come quick!” Tory yelled, “There’s something on TV!” Everyone abandoned their tasks and gathered in the living room.

“Those are Pantheons!” exclaimed Lan.

“These Navis have been found appearing all over the net and in the real world,” Ribbita reported. She screamed as a Pantheon suddenly appeared next to her and another placed its eye in front of the camera.

“This looks bad,” Lan muttered, “I knew it was suspicious for Saiba’s crew to disappear like that. And now I know why. They’ve been preparing for this.”

“We’re back!” Chaud called as he walked in through the door.

“Chaud, leave your coat on. We’re going out,” Lan informed him, “Get your car restarted. Tory, grab your keys. Everyone else, outside!”

A few minutes later, everyone arrived at SciLab and they ran straight to Dr. Hikari’s lab.

“Dad! Pantheons are attacking worldwide!” Lan shouted.

“I know, Lan,” Yuuichiro replied, “I was about to call you, but it appears that you’ve come before I could do it. Anyway, Official NetBattlers all over the world are doing what they can to stop it. However, they’re only limited to the net. Fighting them in the real world is going to be harder.

“We’ll just send everybody everywhere like we did during Duo’s Earth Erasure movement,” Lan replied, “But to do that, we need…”

“Somebody called?” Lan turned around at the sound of the voice and saw all the members of the Cross Fusion team.

“And thanks to me, I can get everyone all over the world in a jiffy!” Yai exclaimed.

“Thank you, Yai,” said Yuuichiro before turning to everyone, “Now all of you, get ready for the biggest battle of your lives.” Mr. Famous walked towards them and handed out the Synchro Chips to everyone who had theirs taken away.

“Let’s do this!” declared Lan. Fifteen Synchro Chips were slotted in simultaneously.

“Synchro Chip, in!”

“CROSS FUSION!”

Lan relaxed his body as the Cross Fusion process took its effect. First, his jeans wrapped themselves around his legs as a pair of cobalt-blue boots formed over his feet. The tops extended outward slightly and clamped around his legs as white stripes formed under them. Small triangular extensions shot up his shins until they almost reached the bottom of his knees. The centers then became indented as diamond-shaped emeralds became embedded in his boots. Next, the sleeves of his shirt wrapped themselves around his arms as a pair of blue gloves appeared, covering two-thirds of his forearms. Slightly thicker cuffs formed and covered the rest of his forearms while a pair of extensions similar to the ones on his boots materialized and two more emeralds became embedded in them. Lan’s eyes snapped open as MegaMan’s icon came together and formed on his chest. The moment it touched his body, the rest of his clothes were instantly transformed into a navy-blue bodysuit. A cyan circle formed around the icon and four lines shot out in different directions. Two of them moved downward in a diagonal direction and formed stripes down the sides of his bodysuit. The other two moved up to his shoulders, where a pair of protective yellow shoulder guards appeared, reaching from the base of his neck to halfway down his upper arms. The stripes then moved beyond his shoulders and met up with the other two, which had split apart from the main stream at the waist and went upward, in the center of Lan’s back, where a modified version of MegaMan’s power pack appeared. Finally, his hair was pressed flat against his head as his helmet formed over his head. The crests spread out to the sides and curved back slightly while a green chevron with a yellow border appeared in the center and moved towards the top of his helmet and the mouthguard covered the lower half of Lan’s face. He clenched his fist tightly as he raised his arm over his head and took up a fighting stance.

Chaud’s sleeves wrapped around his arms as black and red gloves formed over his hands. Spikes shot up from the elbows as ProtoMan’s icon appeared on the back of each hand and diamonds were embedded just under his elbows. His pants wrapped themselves around his legs as the boots appeared and clamped into place. Cuffs formed around the tops and spikes shot up to his knees with diamonds appearing right at their bases. Chaud’s vest quickly zipped itself up as ProtoMan’s icon appeared on his chest and transformed his clothes into a purple and black bodysuit while the vest itself was turned into bright red armor. A red helmet with a white stripe running across it came together over his head and a black visor slid down over his eyes. A white mouthguard covered the rest of his face as a horn slid out just above the forehead and curved upward. He turned around and his hair instantly grew down to his knees before he completed a 360-degree turn and took up his finishing pose.

Laika tilted back his head as his beret disappeared in a shower of pixels. Camouflage armor formed and clamped over his torso. Almost instantaneously, his entire uniform was transformed into SearchMan’s grey bodysuit. White stripes shot down the sides until they reached his legs, where a pair of camouflage boots formed over his feet. Camouflage gloves formed over his arms and SearchMan’s icon appeared on the backs of both hands. Laika closed his hand into a fist as he brought it up next to his face before swinging it back out to the side. A camouflage striker pack appeared on his back next. Grey ear protectors bearing SearchMan’s icon formed on either side of his head as a camouflage and grey helmet covered his head. A small microphone appeared next to his mouth as an orange visor slid down over his eyes. He stretched out his arm and his handheld Scope Gun appeared. He grabbed it from the air and pointed the barrel forward, firing off a shot before bringing it back into its rest position.

Sean’s hands were covered in white gloves as his forearms were encased in navy-blue gauntlets as red formed around the tops and his wrists, connecting the two by a single stripe. Extensions shot out from the back and provided extra protection to his elbows. The centers of the extensions became indented as a single rectangular topaz appeared embedded in each one His cargo pants wrapped themselves around his legs as navy-blue boots appeared around them. Red stripes appeared around the tops and the ankles and a single red line ran down each shin that connected them. Extensions shot up to his knees and like his gloves, topazes embedded themselves in them. His T-hoodie zipped itself up as Axl’s icon formed on his chest and instantly transformed his clothes into a grey bodysuit. The T-hoodie itself transformed into Axl’s armor with red stripes around the collar and waist and running down the sides, front, and back while the sleeves transformed into his shoulder guards. Axl’s power pack formed on his back and a pair of skinny white wings shot out from the bottom and reached down to his knees. Finally, Axl’s icon appeared over both of Sean’s ears and the rest of the helmet formed in between them while allowing his hair to stick out the back like Axl’s. The white crests extended upward, angled to the sides, and curved slightly backward. A navy-blue mouthguard with red running across the top slid into place over his face and a pistol appeared in front of him. He grabbed it in his right hand and a second gun appeared to his side. He grabbed that one in his left hand and spun both weapons in his hands before finishing up with his guns aimed forward.

Pink boots reaching up just below her knees formed around Maylu’s feet and oval-shaped indents appeared at the tops where a pair of rubies embedded themselves. Yellow trims appeared over the tops of her boots while a yellow border surrounded each ruby. Pink gloves slowly formed over Maylu’s hands and yellow trims appeared on the ends. At the same time, circular rubies appeared on the backs of her hands. Roll’s icon appeared over her chest and transformed her clothes into as pink dress. Black coverings appeared around the rest of her legs and black sleeves covered the rest of her arms. Maylu bowed her head slightly as her helmet appeared over her head. A pair of yellow knobs appeared on the front and her antennae sprouted out from them and curved around behind her head, meeting up halfway around. Her hair suddenly grew down past her waist and a green ribbon tied itself around it into a neat bow. With her transformation complete, she turned around once and took up her finishing pose.

The light engulfed Noah’s body and he stood with his arms slightly away from his sides. His plushie disappeared in a shower of pixels and his hair tie followed, letting his hair fall loosely around his neck. White armor materialized over the lower half of his legs and feet and came together to form boots. Diamond-shaped indents appeared on the front just below his knees and turquoise-colored gems filled them. Pure white gloves encased his hands and forearms and turquoise gems appeared near his elbows and on the backs of his hands. Noah flexed his left arm and clenched his fist before thrusting it back out to his side. Lumine’s icon formed in front of him and locked onto the center of his chest, transforming the rest of his clothes into a dark purple bodysuit. A blue gem surrounded the icon and from it white armor grew out and surrounded his torso. The collar and the area protecting his solar plexus changed to green and the armor extended out and covered his shoulders. Noah closed his eyes as his bangs were swept to the side and covered the right half of his face while the hair that hung loosely behind his head distributed itself evenly and curved outward. A band of light ran through his hair and changed it from white to light purple while turning it solid at the same time. Two earphones appeared on either side of his head and a band of white connected them together, transforming them into a headset. A small microphone came out from his left earphone and stopped just next to his mouth as an orange lens slid out from the same earphone and covered his left eye. He opened his eyes and turned around. A massive shower of pixels came together on his back and materialized six majestic mechanical angel wings. He spread out his new appendages as he turned back around and took up his final pose.

Blue boots surrounded Miss Yuri’s legs and spikes appeared over her knees. Her arms became encased in matching armor and NeedleMan’s icon formed over her chest, transforming her clothes into a purple bodysuit. Armor covered her torso and fused with the armor on her arms, meeting at the shoulders and protruding a pair of spikes. Her helmet formed and her transformation was complete.

GyroMan’s icon appeared on Charlie’s chest and his clothes morphed into a black bodysuit. Yellow armor covered his arms, legs, and torso and two more icons appeared on his shoulders. His helmet appeared on his head and his propeller unfolded on his back.

Tesla’s jewelry vanished and her clothes changed to a bodysuit that was red on top and black over her legs. White bracers covered her forearms and her gloves turned white. Her flowing hair was reduced to two short knobs as two pompoms appeared on each foot over her high heels. MagnetMan’s icon appeared on her chest and she gained her shoulder armor to which more knobs attached themselves as her helmet appeared.

Purple armor snapped into place on Nenji’s arms and legs and NapalmMan’s icon appeared on his chest and turned his clothes into a black bodysuit with purple torso armor. His helmet covered his head and two large cannons appeared on his shoulders.

Dingo’s shorts wrapped themselves around his legs as TomahawkMan’s boots appeared. Likwise, his sleeves did the same as the gloves appeared. The rest of his shirt was wrapped snuggly around his body and his hood over his head as TomahawkMan’s icon appeared on his chest and gave him a black bodysuit and armor. His hood transformed into a helmet and a mouthguard covered his face as a long headdress trained down his head. An axe appeared and he grabbed it and spun it in his hand.

Jasmine’s dress hitched itself up as her boots appeared. Her sleeves changed and white mittens appeared over her hands. Her hair changed to a helmet-like hardness and her pigtails moved up to the top of her head as a visor appeared over her eyes and a nurse’s hat on top of her head. A first aid kit materialized on her back and she flipped into her final pose.

Princess Pride’s hat vanished and KnightMan’s icon formed over her chest, which instantly transformed her clothes into an armored white dress. A white knight’s helmet appeared over her head and her hair hardened. A mace came out of her right arm and she swung it around.

ShadowMan’s icon appeared on Dark’s clothes over the left side of his shirt and changed his clothing into a black bodysuit. Purple armguards with spikes on the elbows appeared on his hands and grey armor over his torso. A cloud of darkness exploded out of his back and changed into a red scarf. ShadowMan’s mask appeared over his head and two Muramasa swords appeared before him. He grabbed them, swung them around, placed them into the sheathes on his back, and took up his final pose.

Baryl’s dog tags vanished and his clothes transformed into a black bodysuit. Black gloves appeared on his arms and green gems appeared on the backs of his hands. Heavy black boots covered his legs halfway up his shins and Colonel’s coat covered the rest. Armor covered his torso and two white shoulder guards materialized on either side of it. Baryl spun around and quickly donned a blue cape. His hair was swept to the side as his helmet formed. He brought his hand to his side and it morphed into Colonel’s Sword. He swung it once and took his final pose.

“We’ll fight off the Pantheons in the real world!” announced R MegaMan, “Dad, Mr. Famous, you try to locate the source. The rest of you, defend the net. Let’s go!”

Pantheons appeared in waves without a single break in their ranks.

“Guts Hammer!”

“Ice Cube!”

“Aqua Spout!”

“Dice Bomb!”

“Glyde Cannon!”

GutsMan, IceMan, AquaMan, NumberMan, and Glyde launched their attacks and destroyed several of the one-eyed Navis, but more continued to advance. In Netopia, ThunderMan blasted every one that came his way.

“We must defend our home at all costs!” he declared.

“Keep holding them off, ThunderMan,” said Raoul as he punched a Pantheon in the face and kicked another one in the chest. However, their numbers were far greater and they closed in on him.

“Sonic Boom!” An energy wave sliced through the Pantheons and R ProtoMan landed in front of Raoul.

“Sorry I was late,” he apologized.

“No need to apologize. Just take these guys out.” Raoul turned his attention back to the net while R ProtoMan sliced through the Pantheons in the real world.

* * *

“Royal Wrecking Ball!” R KnightMan walked through the streets of Creamland swinging her mace around and destroying any Pantheon that just happened to get in her way.

* * *

“Scope Gun!” R SearchMan fired one shot after another at the incoming enemies. His attacks pierced through rows of Navis, but they continued to swarm in throughout Sharo. Meanwhile in Choina, R Medi was throwing Medi Capsules and launching Chemical Flashes at every opponent she came across. Occasionally, she would use Healing Ball to steal their health whenever she was low herself.

“Shadow Blade!”

“Grand Needle!”

R NeedleMan stabbed her way through the vast army while R ShadowMan teleported all over the street slicing them apart with his swords.

* * *

“Tornado Arm!” R GyroMan held out his weapon and a powerful whirlwind shot out and blew away several Pantheons.

“MagBall!” R MagnetMan created a ball of energy in her hands and she threw it forward, hitting even more of the one-eyed Navis.

* * *

“Tomahawk Air Raid!” R TomahawkMan watched as his tomahawk flew around the battlefield and sliced apart everyone on the outer rim.

“Good work, Dingo,” commented R NapalmMan, “Now it’s my turn. Napalm Bomb!” Two missiles exploded from his cannons and they destroyed all the Pantheons in the middle.

* * *

R Axl’s Copy Shot proved to be very useful in combat as he blended in with his opponents and took them out one by one with alarming speed. He then pulled back and looked up as R Lumine fired his Heaven’s Judgment onto the army. Elsewhere, R Colonel’s Screen Divide was ripping through the Neo Arcadian forces.

R MegaMan pointed his buster forward and shot down another Pantheon.

“Dad, how’s it going?” he asked.

“We need more time, Lan,” replied Yuuichiro, “There’s so much going on it’s hard to pinpoint the exact location that they’re all coming from.”

“Heart Slash!” R Roll blew a kiss and unleashed a hailstorm of pink hearts, bombarding the Pantheons.

“Well can you please hurry it up?” R MegaMan yelled back, “We’re losing ground out here!”

“Famous, deploy a Dimensional Area so we can use it as a shield,” ordered Yuuichiro.

“Right away!” Mr. Famous ran over to the Dimensional Area control console and pressed the red button.

“WindRacket!” R MegaMan used the fan to blow the Pantheons back and a Dimensional Area formed, cutting them off from SciLab. The blue-clad Net Savior sighed and ran inside with R Roll.

“Anything yet?” he asked.

“We finally have a signal,” declared Yuuichiro, “It’s coming from a war torn country called Arcadia. It’s very small, which is why it doesn’t appear on maps.”

“Then that’s where we go.” Lan declared.

“You’re definitely going to meet resistance when you get there,” Mr. Famous added, “Take our best forces and head out there.”

“You got it.”

Within a couple of hours, Lan, Maylu, Chaud, Sean, Laika, and Noah were heading out to Arcadia in a helicopter.

“There it is!” Sean called as he pointed out the windshield. Up ahead everyone could see a large island. It was circular and with a very abnormal landscape. The entire island was split into four even quarters. One was covered with high mountains, another was a frozen wasteland, the third was a volcanically active area, and the last was covered with dark clouds.

“This is very peculiar,” Noah thought out loud as he scanned the landscape. A missile suddenly shot out and Laika veered the helicopter away.

“We’re being targeted!” he shouted, “Everyone, hang on!” He flew the aircraft evasively as more missiles came toward them.

“Hey, look in the center of the island!” exclaimed Lan. Everyone looked. At the very center of Arcadia, at the point where all four landscapes’ borders met, was a large city ruined after past years of war. Laika managed to safely land the chopper and everyone got out.

“Saiba, they’re here,” Nicol reported. Saiba sat before a large computer in a dark room at the top of a flight of stairs with only a single beam of white light shining down on him. At the bottom were Greg, Waya, Nicol, and Diana, all dressed in white hooded robes. The heterochromic leader turned around, also dressed in a white robe, got up, and walked down to them.

“Then it’s time. You all know what to do,” he instructed them, “Take whoever you like, but Hikari and my brother are mine.”

“Of course.” Saiba then returned to his seat and sat back down.

“So you finally came, Lan. And you as well, little brother. This will be a day long remembered.”

“I don’t see anybody here,” Maylu noted as they walked through the city.

“I say we head up to that monument in the center of the city,” Sean suggested as he pointed to a tall spire.

“Yeah, that’s definitely gotta be where Saiba’s hiding,” Lan agreed, “Okay, we don’t have much time.” Four Crests of Arcadia suddenly appeared on the ground underneath Chaud, Laika, Sean, and Maylu and the four of them vanished, leaving only Lan and Noah.

“Where did they go?!” exclaimed the young boy.

Chaud opened his eyes to find himself in the mountainous region of Arcadia.

“Welcome, Chaud.” He turned around at the sound of the voice and saw Waya standing on a large boulder with his robe flapping violently in the strong wind.

“Waya! I should have known.”

“Welcome to the great Windy Plains of Neo Arcadia,” Waya introduced, “This is where we will have our final battle.”

“I don’t have time for this,” Chaud replied.

“You don’t have a choice in the matter.” Waya undid the fastenings on his robe and slipped it off, letting the wind carry it away, “This will be the final decider.”

Sean looked around and found himself in the region that was covered by dark clouds. There were several trees around, but not enough to make it a forest.

“Welcome, Sean, to the great Shadowy Plains of Neo Arcadia,” Greg greeted as he appeared before the grey-haired teen. He shed his robe and threw it to the side.

* * *

Laika was in the volcanic area when he met Nicol.

“Welcome, Laika, to the great Burning Plains of Neo Arcadia.” The young cadet shed his robe and it fell into a river of lava, incinerating upon reaching it.

* * *

Maylu shivered as she stood in the frozen region when Diana appeared and threw off her robe.

“Welcome, Maylu, to the great Freezing Plains of Neo Arcadia.”

* * *

While everyone else was facing off against their rivals, Lan and Noah had made it to the monument and were ascending the long winding staircase to the top.

“Why do final bosses always have to have such a long grueling journey for the heroes to trek across before they can fight?” gasped Noah.

“I thought you would know,” Lan replied, “You did it back when you were evil.”

“Oh shut up!”

Saiba watched all the activities from his chamber on different monitors over his computer.

“Let the final battle begin!”

This was rather boring, since it was merely a setup for what seems to be your final plans for the arc as a whole. And given the fact that the tournament arc ended with the readers being quite less than satisfied, this arc has a lot to fulfill. Take your time with these.

I've read what this new chapter offered and so far it's been rather.....predictable. I mean, talk about knowing what you're going to do. What's the big deal with using all of the Cross-Fusion members to battle it out with the Patheons that are all around the world anyway? (Sorry for the mispelling) However, there are some good points on this chapter like the way that you've described the island Arcadia. The plot was rather predictable, but the description of the places isn't so bad. Perhaps the upcoming chapters would be better than this one and make up for it. That's all that I have to say. Later and keep up the good work!

As stated, you've got to pull off a minor miracle to bring this arc up to a satisfiable level.

And if dramatic tension was what you were going for with this one... well, you didn't get it. A showdown with the Arcadia Four was expected at some time, so that killed any surprise this chapter could have had.

For some reason, I've got the feeling that we're in for a bad plot twist with the Arcadia Four...

Okay, it was an average chapter, and while I don't mind Cross Fusion that much, please NO more long paragraphs for each person. I can understand when Lan and company gets a new look, but even that would take only one paragraph for those small details. Same with the CF Rangers defending their homes. And now that that I think of it, the entire chapter could have been condensed. I know it was an filler and all, but this chapter kinda rubs it in your faceIMO. I mean, at least with Sean fighting Freezeman or Shademan being killed (AGAIN xD), those chapters were still good reads to pass the time. This one could have been have been chained into Chaud and Waya's fight maybe. But as is, it's similer to having to watch those ads before movies. Except having to wait 2 days afterwards to see the movie itself. Not really worthy of being it's own chapter.

You appear to have created a plothole here with Barrel's Cross Fusion...

Stream Spoilers, which are big but phrased in a not hugely spoilery way:

The Stream version of Barrel is the only one who can Cross Fuse, but by the end of Stream he wouldn't be available for anyone on Earth to call.
You've also set this fic after Stream, with the references you've made to Beast, so Barrel shouldn't be able to Cross Fuse.[/spoil:d646f69e4c]

His Cross Fusion didn't even have a point anyways, as you didn't put in any scene with him fighting. Same goes for the Cross Fusion descriptions, it would have been much easier on the readers to just say that they cross fused, rather then describing them with nearly 4 pages of text.

Anyhow... One thing I'd suggest for these battles, I think that the Neo Arcadian guys should each get some sort of seperate upgrade for the battles.
That alone won't make them good, writing and planning will decide that but it's a step in the right direction, as the fights will have something new. (And I don't just mean "I can shoot bigger attacks at you now!", something more creative)

There's tons of plotholes mainly due to the fact that you pick and choose from all games and series and throw them in. Like way back in that Venus army of Men or whatever where nearly all the male characters there had never appeared previously, or even existed back when you started this fic. You do this constantly. Like that exe 6 character a while back. Or Dingo suddenly appearing, or Laika being able to cross fuse, and now in this chapter all of the CF characters. Furthermore you seem to completely ignore any and all comments made here. I don't know why I bothered to think about this.

It's a shame if he doesn't listen to criticism, because it would probably help a lot. And if he listens, but chooses to stick with his same strategy I can respect that too. I think the majority of people have seen these guys crossfuse at least once (the majority of them at least), so huge amounts of descriptor text weren't really needed. Without them this wasn'nt as much an episode as it was ten minutes of trailer for what should happen next. It really was just a set-up for the plot. As for the unfortunate final battles between Saiba's crew and everyone else, I wish only one had worn a cloak/cape. Wold have been less repetitive, if just a single person had a cape (Waya works), and everyone else dressed normally. They could wear things besides cloaks though, such as samurai garb, armor, navi costumes, etc. Anything besides the over-used cloak motif. Where does one even buy a cloak these days? Does Saiba knit, because that would explain it. Oh well, the final showdown should be at least interesting... should.
I wan't to see where you're going with this arc...
