I've caught a couple shows of this on YTV; namely the later-half of the pilot episode.
It's definitely one of the better Western animated series I've seen in recent years... but there's definitely an anime influence. I'd like to watch it more, but I'm rarely awake before 2pm on Saturdays.

Actually, it's all Chinese-based.

Yeah I want to watch it too this friday ^^. I saw the commercial of it in nick and I saw that Zuko's sister is able to create lighting? It may be another element for Aang to learn in the future, maybe.

This new "bending" sounds pretty cool. I agree with the people who said it might just be another way to make fire. His (Zuko's) sister would probably have been disowned if she had been uncapable of the family's bending style. Of course, she could have created her own style. It happens...
I cannot wait for Friday, so that I can figure out the answer to this question; it plagues me!

It is firebending. Remeber back to the ep with the storm? Iroh was able to redirect the lightning from the ship, and since he is a firebender, it has to be fire.
Oh, and Iroh can shoot lightning too, it was in the ads.

But Iroh was still shocked from redirecting the lightning. Maybe that means he doesn't have total control? :/
