Wait...they gave everyone a Link PET Synchro Chip Slot-in thing? But yet they didn't give Meiru a Progress PET Slot-in? Where's the logic in that? .-. _________________

Wow! This finale was way way way way way better than Stream's finale. *shudders at the thought of it. This is by far the best season of Rockman I have ever seen. _________________

I thought some of the episodes in Beast were kinda cheesy... especially since many navis were once again being recycled and such... but this final episode was just awesome... especially the fights and the... CF Twin Beast Out thing, or whatever you want to call it.... it was just awesome. |

Lemme clear that out: they were lazy exept for Irishara(sp?) on ep 40 Aside from that... stream was pretty crappy on the animation part. _________________

Maybe my eyes were deceiving me, but I could see that they have more pointy faces and small ears; a style which I'm not too fond of.
Maybe it was used only for those particular scenes.
But anyway, I won't judge the next installment just by that. Let's wait for the first episode this Saturday. |
Looks like they're bringing back an art director from Axess and Stream that went absent in Beast... I forget his/her name, but s/he did episodes like the Wind Soul episode in Axess, the Axess episode where Dark Blues was recovered, or the Stream episode with Nenji, Yaito, fireworks, and Blizzardman getting deleted... No guarantee this is the same art director (since I sometimes get his/her work mixed up with Akira Takahashi, who was still present in Beast... s/he did Beast episode 1, among many others)... but it looks like it. _________________

Well, Beast, you were better than Stream. Here's my take on it.
Let's start with the positives. The animation was really good for a Rockman episode. The final fight was done well, and one of my favorite shots was when Beast R-Rockman blocked the claw of the Greyzer. The fight itself was really cool, compared to all others. Some of the angles were interesting, and they should totally experiment more with angles. Especially since most of the shots in this show look awfully similar to most other shots of the character. I also liked the scene where Trill breaks up into data and Net's reaction to it makes everyone turn around, simply because it seemed more realistic than any of the other sayings that those kids do in the show.
Onto the bad. The ending was the exact same as every other Rockman.exe final battle. The only one that differed was the Stream ending, and that in itself sucked. Not that I didn't like the battle, but I'm really getting tired of the Deus Ex Machina ending where Rockman suddenly obtains an insane amount of power and wipes out the giant virus within a minute or two. We've already seen it four times. Originality is essential in series, and this was just too disappointing.
Second--Cross Fusion. We had enough in Stream. We don't need to spend about two minutes of the episode seeing these transformations for the millionth time. Rockman has about 30 unique forms to use, but he does the EXACT same ones every episode, except for this filler form. Why didn't they include a Beast Out crossed with a Soul Unison? Disappointing. Also, as I've said before, strategy is completely thrown out the window in this show. It's all point-and-shoot. Considering how boring this is, it makes nearly every battle go the exact same way. There wasn't a wide variety of program advances used either. If they could incorporate a battle that actually could make some sense, that would be so much more interesting than the random Zoano/Darkloid of the day.
Finally, the formula is all the same. Seriously, there isn't any variety. Random zoanoroid of the day, giant boss with super powers gets taken down by some random powerup, viruses are simply giant ants, cross fusion, HyperBurst x MugenVulcan x Dreamsword, etc. Do something new for a change. They need more innovative writers. Maybe if they had those, Beast +'s time wouldn't be cut down to 15 minutes per episode.
In conclusion, the finale was better than Stream and Axess, so I'll give them props for that simply because the story of the series was good. But the formula was the exact same as its predecessors and we saw what was coming a mile away. Predictability is not always fun, kids. No matter what the plot of Beast + is, there's a relatively good chance that the ending will follow one of the previous ones. If it does, I'm not looking forward to it. |

I liked that episode, it had some nice animations. Different to Ishihara yes, but it had a few extreme poses, especially when Netto uses Variable Sword which were nice. If they're going to bore us with panning action shots, they may as well make them interesting. Plus It'd be nice if some of the minor characters popped up in Beast +, which is plausible given some of the recurring characters from Stream.
Toto, as far as I remember Rockman lost to Blues in the first series and then got deleted by Pharoahman, as well as there was no Dues ex Machina in Stream ignoring the movie. They do use that idea a fair yes, but it's not used exclusively.
Am I the only one who found their use of Dimensional Areas a little iffy? I mean, shooting highly concentrated beams of energy into a dimensional rift doesn't sound like a...particularly sane idea. _________________

I actually mentioned that Stream didn't contain the Deus ex Machina ending, but you're completely right about the first season. To tell the truth, that was the one I liked most because of all of the twists. Things didn't go as expected, but that's the only season that actually has done that. |

Meh... I got a small shot on the main page of my site (see signature), but I don't have the full shot handy.
I don't think it really matters that some finales didn't meet the cliché we're talking about... because the point that Toto and I are trying to make is that this cliché exists, and we're sick of it.
It was really cool when Rockman destroyed Gospel, it was awesome when Netto took down Gozilla-Laserman, (MOVIE spoilers) [spoil:d0c43de268]and it was shiny when ForteCross tore Nebula Gray apart[/spoil:d0c43de268]. But now we've seen it again, and it's getting as dry as the slide-show battles. At least Stream TRIED something different (even if it did fall flat on its face and fail).
There's surely a more interesting way to take out a giant enemy without having to go super-charged and annihilate them in a few minutes. I think we all agree that an anime based on a strategy-based video-game should have more strategy-based battles...
We all remember when Pharaohman deleted Rockman after the N1 Grand Prix. Even though that episode has pretty much been raped of its emotional appeal from being dated and overwatched, who would deny their heart didn't jump when our blue bomber was wasted? It caught us all off guard, and I bet some of you cried a little.
And then, after two episodes of Pharaohman wreaking havoc and Netto trying to gather up all hope he has that his best friend can be revived, we get that awesome episode 25... I still sit at the edge of my seat as Pharaohman takes down Netto's friends, one by one, in trying to achieve his goal of blowing up Densan City... and even the godly Blues can't stand up to his power... and when all looks grim...
Here comes a purple shot to save Blues. It's... It's Rockman! He's alive, and he's PISSED! He takes down Pharaohman, unleashes a Style Change, and annihilates Bombman and Stoneman by himself... two intensely strong navis that barely anyone could scratch. WWW blows up, everyone reunites...
THAT was a finale. _________________

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noted that. Then again, since when have we seen the anime adhere to laws of science? The whole concept of the astral gash and things traveling in both directions is still a little shaky to me.
This was certainly a fine finale. I must admit that perhaps I should have seen Netto's act of desperation as something that was obvious, but it still nevertheless blew me away. Yes, the same gripe about CF--there is no need to waste time with henshins, especially if they haven't changed all too much...
As for the question about Bubbleman, because of the astral gash, parts of Beyondard probably extended their way into Netto's realm, and at least in the immediate area around the break, there is no need for a DA...also explains the resistance that the minor members of the CF team put up. _________________ Today, these three players are after Big Bucks! I liked the battle, the music was nice, and even though it was one-sided, I was still waiting to see what was next.
Poor Wily, he always thinks his plan is unbeatable, then BAM! He really sounded like he was on his last legs there.
More closure with Barrel and the others would've been nice, instead of leaving them standing there confused.
Overall, Beast was pretty good. It kinda lost its way after after 14, but these last few eps make up for that.
As for Beast Plus? I already have questions. What is Zero doing in the real world? Why are those viri beastified? Does Zero have some connection to Beyondard? Why does the scene with R-Rockman running around with the Bamboosword look so silly? I hope we will get decent answers. _________________ ' I don't care if the buzz isn't real- I can roleplay being drunk!'

Ah yeah, kickass finale. (Take that fuzzy ) The twin beast-out would've been better if it were just Rock. As for being a finale, I dun mind the "get a huge power-up then tear the last enemy in 1 minute" thing...But that's just me. Anyway, after seeing Bomberman Jetters I got this sinking feeling that [spoil:2a896c7eed]Colonel is Zero.[/spoil:2a896c7eed] _________________ ROCKBUSTER !!!!!! |
