Beast Plus 1 - Episode talk-back (spoilers)

Welp, this episode was supremely interesting. First, I'll start with the art direction, because no one cares about that.

I don't recognize this art director from doing any EXE episodes, but the style is pretty good (most of the time). It's got a more "cutesy" look, and it looks nice. However, for some reason, my beloved Ishihara Mitsuru might have possibly left the show. I only make this conclusion because Netto's slot-in animation was redrawn by the new art director... even his "holding-PET-up-and-shouting-Cross-Fusion" animation has been redrawn...

On another note, the special effects (like in battles) in this episode look really, really nice. Furthermore, the backdrops are extremely beautiful, nearly the quality of the movie. I guess the shorter episodes gives the artists more time to... you know, make things look nice.

As for the time restraints... As previously reported by Ryouko, there is no intro or credits sequence, and since there's no commercials, there's also no eye catches. (Also, there's no "next episode" preview, which upsets me a bit.) The episode starts with some Japanese text I can't read, and then the logo appears, playing to a short Cross Fusion rearrangement theme.

And as for the actual flow of the episode being only 15 minutes... this is actually the best thing to happen to the series in a while. Things don't feel rushed... they just get to the point without all the unneccessary crap in between, and it works well.

(And I loved the Battle Chip Stadium advertisement with Shuko, Higure, and Tohru.)

As for the plotline... It starts out with Netto having a bad dream about Beyondard (running from the stampede of viruses from Beast 14; looks like Ishihara's work from that episode was also redrawn by the new artist)... After having some breakfast with Haruka (she's been absent for 25 episodes now), he heads out to the Sci-Lab.

Yuuichirou and Meijin ran some tests on ol' Rockman and developed two new battle chips, one with Grega's symbol and the other with Falzer's. Presumably, this is what's gonna let Rockman use the Beast Out styles without Trill. Furthermore, it might just be me, but it looks like Netto's Link PET was upgraded (it seems like it's colored differently).

Meanwhile, in Sharo, Laika and his dog are riding around when they get an important call. A nearby warehouse is being infested with them cyber plants, so he goes in and finds a bunch of beastisized Skuttle viruses. He Cross Fuses (no henshin, yay!) and beats 'em up nicely. Then the same thing starts happening in Japan, so Netto rushes out to fight the viruses.

He clears them out, but then our lovely Zero appears to slash him up good. Zero prepares to put the beat down on Netto some more when Enzan appears and counterattacks. We get to see Professor's face as he tells Zero to escape (which he does)...

And that's that. Zero doesn't speak, but he makes a couple grunts while tossing shockwaves at Netto.

Overall, Beast Plus is going to have a very interesting run...

My thoughts:

1. Cross Fusion Theme remixed for the Op? I think Cross Fusion will be spammed just as much as before. I, of course, unashamedly hope for more Nenji if the CF Members are in it.

2. Zero has the same logout as Iris did, which means he must be in a special Copyroid as well!

3. The pace is...interesting, it's much faster than previous seasons which could be good, and or bad. We'll have to see future episodes to see.

4. Since they're only animating half the time now, they'd better do a good job of it!

5. Zero's voice, for it's single grunt, was pretty good.

Added: Yes, I thought the design changed as well. Laika is so cute with his dog, it's nice to see that he can associate freely with someone at least. Razz

I noticed, the only Beastized virii in this episode where the Dream Bits, which isn't surprising considering that the Life Virus was involved in Transmission.

Well for 15 min's there did a good job on the episode. Will have to wait for more episodes before we start claping own hands, Zero looked better then I was expect him to look like, and this time round I hope the get the CF members back and keep them back for a while and I hope we get to see R Roll and R Tomhawkman again.

It was to be expected of course, but it does make me a bit sad.

It did look a bit cuter from the preview we recieved at the end of Beast 25, didn't it? Ah well, maybe it'll bring new life to the show!

Oh, Beast Out without Trill? It sounds a bit closer to the EXE6 storyline now I suppose! Though I miss Trill tons and tons. Can he come back, please???

Oh hopefully Zero will dish some net-acton out too. I think they should combine the Cross Fusion and Net Battling, alot like they did in Axess. Hopefully Zero will be a promising villian and have his X Series voice, Mr. Ryotaro Okiayu. ^_^

O___O Even tho it was a much faster pace I couldn't believe it was over so fast @__@;; But, the beautiful background artwork made up for that!! My god, compared to all other episodes it was stunning, certainly just as good as the Movie XD Too bad about the opening Oo a shortened version of Shouri no Uta would be nicer in my opinion...
The new art is also... interesting. It looks good XD but in one scene Netto looks... really short @__@;; Tho this style does kinda remind me of the art in the EXE3 game commercial... and the manga style, somehow.
Now that Densan city has been brutally damaged... I wonder if they'll show people rebuilding it XD

Edit: Zero's breathing reminds me of Darth Vader XD

Glad I was finally able to find this sucker. Raghr. Still would like to find a non-wmv version (for subbing purposes) later.

Is it me or was Netto's bandana a different hue of blue? o_o As for the art style, I really only noticed the changed in the children. Other characters like Yuuichirou and Meijin looked the same to me. I thought the battles looked much nicer though.

I really liked Enzan's peaceful scene. Nice to show a bit more of his character.

I noticed the bandana color too, but it's probably just the video quality. The bandana seemed a different hue of blue when I first saw Stream, too.

Oh, and here are some screens.
I dunno why the color quality is so off. Something with my work computer... The saturation and hue automatically adjusts itself when I save graphics on it. Dunno why... I'll have to rescap the episode at home.

Sounds like it might be the computer's graphics card, Chase. I know when I upgraded mine this past Christmas, all my colors when I captured were suddenly whacked (go figure, you upgrade, and stuff downgrades instead). I had to tweak settings directly in the DivX codec to get things back to normal.

The Professor has a good laugh to him. XD I wanna know his seiyuu.

Heh, it's interesting to note that, when Tohru was playing with that "Battle Station" machine, the "loser" music from the EXE games could be heard.

Ok just got done with Episode 1... its not bad a noticed a few things..

like how Netto, Meiru, Dingo and Rockman now all have a kinda chibiness to them (its not bad kinda cute *.*) and the second would be that Zero sounds like Darth Vader >.> XD

also I find it funny for capcom to add in the Battle Stadium Arcard game into the Anime XD.

Looks like zero is muted lol why doesnt he talk and the prof looks like sigma more than regal also i like the way the new battle staduim arcade machine was advitised but the whole thing felt rushed and too much of a hanger just with zero logging out and then thats it , its not even 15 mins long its 9.42 - 9.45 that one

So, that's about 10 minutes... Saru Getchu was probably 10 minutes... That's 20 minutes for the two shows, plus some little comedy act thinger in between, as well as commercials. It balances out to 30 minutes.

It is interesting ! Only the épisode is so short.. ^^' but is not a badly épisode ! It is similar for all episode of the Beast + saison (no opening and ending) ?

I enjoyed the hell out of this episode.

Just like Seiko said, this episode didn't feel rushed. We don't get a lot of straightforward episodes in this series.

At first, I was disappointed by the shortened time, but I think that could be a good thing because we wouldn't be fed crap during an episode.

But to make things a bit clear, Yuiichiro was able to make Juuka chips because of the data Trill had left behind in Rockman's body when they merged in the Beast Finale, and that data gave Rockman the potential to Beast Out without Trill. And Meijin upgraded Netto's PET so that it would accept the Juuka chips. Well...that's how I interpretted. Correct me if I may have made some mistakes.

All in all, this episode was rather plesant...and the element of surprise is always nice, since there's no next episode preview. ^_^
