And I tend to favour shounen. XD |
In addition to that, I believe there was a poll over in Japan about what manga magazine is most popular with girls, and Shounen Jump was #1. |

I like Shounen Jump, and while i've read and disliked elements of its sister magazine Shoujou Beat, I still like Shoujou in general. Great series don't need to be directed at a specific gender just to be great. Shounen and Shoujou really only tell you what to expect in it (IE relationships and love vs. action, and generally a male main character). Aside from that , they are just words.
<On a personal note, one of my favorite series currently happens to be a shoujou. Full Moon o Sagashite~ It's so good!) _________________

FMoS is a really good one... Just finished it a little while ago at the anime club I go to.
Been meaning to check out Shoujo Beat too. I'll probably just end up reading it for Baby and Me but it has some other interesting sounding stuff too. <_< |

I read more Shoujo than Shounen. Shounen's good, but I like a good love-story XD
I read everything in Shoujo Beat except Godchild. D: Lol the guy from Absolute Boyfriend is omghawt. _________________ all i ever wanted was the world |

I seriously read just about everything... Card Captor Sakura, Chrno Crusade, Full Metal Alchemist, Love Hina, Negima, Onegai Teacher... I've never read Rockman EXE tho... but oh well.
16+? I thought Negima was 17+... in any case... I started reading Love Hina when I was 14, so it's not all THAT bad XD Tho Negima is almost twice as bad sometimes XD In any case I agree with most of the people here, since there's no actual visual sex involved, it's not porn O__o;; Tho, Negima is kind of stretching it at times ^___^;; Maybe you (Synchro) are too young for it, but you like it anyway, so I don't really care :p I won't shout out loud, omg Synchro is reading porn!!! AAAAAH <runs around in circles with arms in the air and running into a tree> (Some people actually did that with me tho... >___>) _________________

Yeah, and the "unmanly" thing they're saying is coming from the same people who slap each other's asses every day while playing Football and BasketBall and laugh at each other's penises when in the showers.
I don't think they deserve the right to speak. |

That sounds quite creepy, no 'ffense intended to your 'buddies'. yeah right, they sound like losers..
On to the real subject, I read some of Negima, and it seems okay, with the exception of underwear showing every time a wind blows. (which is creepy, if you ask me...)

Ok then, there's no problem I see. So you can just keep on reading it and no one should care. |

That's why I put buddies in quotation marks! ^_^
To the real problem at hand (not that these 'wankstas' aren't a problem) perhaps you should force them to read a volume of Negima(preferably one with the least underwear)? _________________

No, that's just wrong. I mean the least parts where the wind magically 'blows' girls' skirts up so you can see their underwear. One with the least of those 'scenes.'
Sorry for the misunderstanding. _________________

The least, as they call them, panty flashes. That's what they mean. |

Hmmm...
I read both shounen and shoujo manga, too.
Shounen manga for the attention to technical details (mecha, perspective, shading, etc., are superior). Also I'm a fan of detective stories, and those are considered a "guy thing" in Japan. The downside, I think, is that most shounen manga can't draw a good-looking male even if their life depended on it (I'm especially referring to the shounen version of the Escaflowne manga here).
Shoujo manga for more in-depth exploration of character emotions. Of course the "twinkly eyes" and "blowing in the wind" effects get old after a while, but they know what looks good in both male, female, even transvestite members of the population.
Plot development-wise, they're pretty much equal in my book.
My bookcase's dominated by the Zelda and Meitantei Conan volumes, though _________________ TGS 2007:MISSED! T_T |

ii think it's no problem about liking both shoujo or shounen manga or anime..... i'll watch it depend on the story, if the story is cool and good i'll watch it no matter it's shoujo or shounen..
i think people don't change theyself if they don't act like it.....!!! :] _________________

Yes. Yes it does make you less of a man.
I'm kidding here. People have their own tastes and stuff. Shoujo may not be my thing, but you have different preferences. Read whatever you want. |

I read for the most part shounen, though I read a few shoujo (and I do read quite a few romance fan fiction, which is often targeted at women right?). I don't quite see how liking a manga targeted at girls make you less of a man; heck hentai and porn kind of creep me out. Never really understood why it was so wonderful. :stonecube: _________________
