I know the fight scenes were good. But in places they could have been better.
Like the fight with Sephiroth, it was too short. Omnislash V5 looked Pwn though. _________________ ~Come to Spriting Haven~ |

Best Buy $14.99 till TONIGHT!
if not then Wal-Mart for $20, unless you have a Best Buy ad from this week and it has FF7:AC in it for $14.99, you can do a price comparision at Wal-Mart's register and they will override the price to Best Buy's price. Cool huh? I did it _________________ -Follow me on Twitch.tv-

I rented mine. I have to return it tomorrow. At first, the story confused me because more than 1 event was happening and I didn't know what the time it was on the events.
Like in the beginning, nearly the first 10-15 minutes confused me because I didn't know what the time placement was. I couldn't tell if it was present time or a flashback.
Another would be the scene with Cloud and Tifa during the night. Reno and Rude come in. While that is happening, Cloud is seen on his motorcycle. Both of these events were shown at the same time. I didn't know which 1 was the past or present until near the end of the scenes.
The battles were great though. I really like that part where everyone helps Cloud get up to Bahamut. While the battles with Kadaj and Seph did seem short, I still enjoyed it. When I first saw the new Omnislash, I was a bit disappointed. Sure, it looked very cool, but I was expecting um....something...more flashy. Like Lion Heart. They could've added small cosmic explosions to the slashes or a flashy finishing strike. _________________

Keep in mind it is a movie, it's supposed to represent 'Reality' as they see it. So there won't be any Summon or Special Attack style animations. _________________

But wasn't Bahamut summoned? I also took the time to watch the interview and I recall Nomura(?) saying that things like jumping far would look cool. As long as it was cool, it'd be ok with them.
Yeah it is a movie but it took place in the FFVII reality. At least materia were used. In the FFVII reality, Cloud's teammates were much stronger than that. Their powers were toned down so much, they only had normal attacks like a gunshot or a punch. They weren't even given Limit Breaks. C'mon, these are the people who helped defeat Sephiroth. Bahamut should've been cake to them.
Not just Cloud's teammates, but also Reno and Rude. Did Reno even use his weapon to zap someone? I can't remember.
Cloud pretty much had everything in this movie. Normal attacks, magical attacks, limit breaks, the works. _________________

Good to see that it's finally out. I already have a copy of the Japanese DVD, and it's really awesome.
Are there any special features on the English DVD? _________________

Well, there's a bunch of extras but I'm guessing they are probably all on the Japanese one as well because they're in Japanese themselves.(With Subtitle, of course)
Anyway, FFVII is one of my all time favorite games and even though I wasn't going to get AC, I just couldn't resist. I was pleasantly surprised by the movie. I loved the revamped music, fight scenes, and most of all the visuals. The DVD was loaded in the extras department as well, overall it's one of the better DVDs that I have bought. _________________ Name shortened from Serenade.exe |

Well, on Disc one they have like a summary of the FFVII story, with clips from the game, it's kind of long but interesting. They also have the movie in Japanese with English subtitles, not really an extra more like a choice I felt like mentioning.
Disc two has a making of doucmentary of the movie, trailers, deleted scenes ( they're really short), the 30 or so minute version of the movie they showed at the Venice film festival, and previews for the upcoming FFVII games. That's all for extras, they were pretty interesting but nothing really that special in my opinion. _________________ Name shortened from Serenade.exe |

it's kinda my bad for watching this movie before playing FF7 because if you hadn't played it, this movie is like a bunch of confusing dialougue with wicked awsome fight scenes.
I had to have a friend commentate it for me. |
