|
|
It wasn't even mentioned at the E3 conference today, but not much was said about the virual console.
However, the official Japanese website ( http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n10/e3_2006/wii/controller.html ) has finally revealed the "Classic Controller", which be used to play NES, SNES, N64, GameCube and even Sega Genesis and Hudson Turbo Graphx 16 games.
You can see a high-res (and click to see an even larger) image of the Classic Controller here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Wii_classic_controller.jpg
Excuse my fanboyism, but I want a Wii/Revolution more and more everyday. The true Wii Remote (yes, they're even calling it a remote themselves) was update today as well... they added a speaker into it, to add somewhat of a 3D sound effect. For example, if you were fishing in Link, the sound of the fishing line would start on the controller and fade into the TV. Sound effects like the famous Zelda chime would also play on the remote.
Also, a video of the hour-long show can be downloaded here: http://www.vgpro.com/file/15549_e32006_pc_nintendo_800k.wmv.html?selectserver=true#about

The speaker is a great idea, things like the sound of a gunshot (I'm aware that this is Nintendo, but let's not forget Red Steel-something) should come from the controller, not the TV..
It looks decent, but the A and B buttons look odd on the classic controller. Perhaps it's just the photo. It seems awfully small, though. _________________ Make a random avatar/ banner. | Atomic Fire's oekaki board. |

I'd have to agree with that--the A and B buttons look transparent, while the X and Y are opaque. Perhaps this is a throwback to the NES controller, where the X and Y button never existed.
Anyway, it looks rather sleek, and I like its simplicity. It does look, however, like something that could easily slip out of one's hands and it could be moderately unwieldy because of that. Other than that, I'm looking forward to seeing this console on the markets. _________________ Today, these three players are after Big Bucks! it reminds me a lot of a SNES controller, but with the PS2 Analog sticks. |

Opera will be an optional buy as well. From what I've heared, they'll make sure that text is readable on a normal TV, so you dun need one of 'em fancy HD-TVs-things.
Opera's also coming out on the DS, by the way. It looks pretty good and usable. _________________ Make a random avatar/ banner. | Atomic Fire's oekaki board. |

Awesome.
This beats Xbox or PS2's complicated-to-heck controllers anyday. _________________

I was actually wondering if they were going to come out with something like this... after all, you would need something to play games from previous systems on. _________________ Only by moving foreward can you stop looking back. No, seriously, stop looking back here and MOVE!

Actually, the PS/PS2 controller is a wee modified version of the SNES controller. They started the same at first, but later they added L2 & R2, then they placed 2 analog sticks, and separated the ^ & X buttons like a cm or so.
[Snes] [PS/2]
B = X
A = O
X = ^
Y = []
In short words: If you used the SNES, the PS/2 is almost the same.
BTW, I'm not defending the PS/2 controller, I'm just saying how sony got the idea for a controller. _________________

looks like Nintendo took Sony's idea of web-surfing on a hand-held. oh well. i'm not dissing Nintendo, i'm actually a Nintendo fanboy.
but, supposedly, the Wii is supposed to cost $200 when it comes out. that's pretty cheap for a console. $200 is also the price of a PSP. which i'm getting, by the way. _________________ just call me xfyre. not xfyrethespooky. |

Technically..you weren't really supposed to go on the net with the PSP. It's just that the hack was made for...I think Wipeout Pure..and..well..it goes on from there. _________________ all i ever wanted was the world |

This'll make some old games much easier to play. Plus it looks a lot like my old sega controler which is really what I learned to play on. |

actually, yes you were. i have an article about it that came out a long time before the PSP, and that says that it was supposed to surf the net.
nice avatar, by the way.
back on topic, i'm a little dissapointed by this new controller. i was expecting the ability to play with the Wii Remote, but, oh well. it's not my decision, it's Nintendo's. _________________ just call me xfyre. not xfyrethespooky. |
