E3 2006!What Sucked,What's Hot and the occasional WTF?

So,what did you think of this year's E3?My biggest shock was SSBB!OMFG...Solid Snake...Twilight Link... ^__^ My WTF is the Wii. >_< No way will I be able to play it accurately... :grr: Why Nintendo?Why?

Yes. Wii > Everything at E3. The new DDRs looked pretty sweet, though the UniversE logo's kinda wierd =/

Yeah, I'd say Nintendo won E3 this year. For me SSBB made almost everything else there there look like nothing.

I enjoy the Halo games, but I honestly felt that the H3 clip was really lacking somehow. I'm curious if the Bungie team has anything playable yet. I'd have to check the "extras" disc for Halo 2 to find out which E3 it was, but at an E3 preceeding the release of Halo two, a Bungie rep played though a demo level for people in a closed auditorium (the ooos, aahs, and whoas on their faces were great). The Metal Gear Solid 4 trailer was much more of an appetite whetter. However, as most people posting in this topic seem to agree so far, the Super Smash Brothers Brawl clip was the greatest thing in the show. Seeing the capabilities of the Wii controllers with things like Red Steel and the Wii version of Twilight Princess also get me going. Now I really want them to make Punch Out!

Yeah... As others said, my opinion is along the line of Nintendo doing much steamrolling over competition here.

Not entirely, this E3 also gave me enough interest in the 360 to consider buying it now and there's a couple interesting PS2 games I saw, but mostly it was about the Wii and DS for me.

PSP almost got some really good stuff, but the main thing I saw that I was interested in for that ended up being a remake.

Lesse... games I currently wanna get after seeing stuff for them at E3 (even though about half of these I already wanted, I just want them more now Razz

):

Super Smash Bros Brawl (top of the list, pretty much), Wario Ware Smooth Moves, Yoshi's Island 2, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Paper Mario, Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz, Super Monkey Ball Adventure, Phantasy Star Universe, Sonic Next Gen, Sonic Wildfire, Godhand, Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, Lunar Knights, Persona 3, Devil Summoner, Metal Gear Solid 4.

Translation: Too many.

I'm on the other end, more for the PS3 and the Final Fantasy games coming to it. Final Fantasy XIII (I'm in love with the preview footage), Final Fantasy versus XIII, and then for portable Final Fantasy XIII Agito. And the protaganist in XIII has a gunblade but more like a transforming gun into a blade.

There's no doubt about who won this year, as Nintendo had both quantity and quality on their side with thier barrage of jaw-dropping presentations.

The biggest shock was Super Smash Bros. Brawl; I'd heard there was something in the works, but nothing as potentially monumental as this. If Smash Bros. Melee is any indication (and note that HAL Labratory will be developing the game again), Brawl will be the must-have game of next year.

The biggest WTF was Sony touting the cheap-imitation motion sensor they've added. Of course, that quickly turned to laughter when it became obvious that Sony was once again trying to force a low-quality gadget onto customers. Laughing

While I agree that Nintedo had the best presentations, I still know lots of people that still make fun of it. They make fun of the Wii, not the games. No matter how awesome the games are, the name Wii is difficult for some people to say with a straight face. Especially when you go around saying "How much is the Wii?" or "I'll purchase the Wii."

Who knows, maybe PS3 will pull off a hat trick and win the console war for the 3rd time. It hasn't been defeated...yet. Though, Wii has a good chance IMO to beat 360 this time around. If Halo does indeed come to end, they will rely on another hyped up game. Their best bet is Gears of War.

From what I've seen, it seems Nintendo and Microsoft are sorta teaming up against Sony. Peter Moore(?) even said that people should buy the 360 and the Wii. Obviously, because PS2 kicked the XBOX's ass. They KNOW that the PS3 is a huge threat to them even with the high price tag. They did afterall win 2 console wars in a row, beat N64, DC, XBOX, and GC.

This E3 did have a lot of good stuff but not 100% of what I'm looking for.
What I liked: Twilight Princess, Super Smash, Miyamoto + orchestra, Metal Gear Solid 4, MGS: Portable Ops, Gears of War gameplay, Final Fantasy XIII & Versus XIII, Sonic, Assassin's Creed, God of War II, and Star Fox DS.
Most of all, I enjoyed that scene where they had 3 guys representing each brand. Sony Guy had Kratos and Snake, Nintendo Guy had Mario and Link, while XBOX Guy had only Master Chief. Yeah...that tells you something.

What didn't surprise me: PS3's price. (You all should've known it was going to be expensive a long time ago when they first mentioned Blu-Ray) Peter Moore supporting Nintedo.

WTF Moments: Gilbert at E3, which I liked. 50 Cent at E3 and saying his game was good even though it was crap. 50 Cent hitting on the chick. The same chick wearing a red(?) dress...damn, how many guys in the world didn't notice THOSE?

What I didn't like: Star Trek, Indiana Jones, Untold Legends, no Resident Evil 5, no Devil May Cry 4, and most of the Booth Babes. I want hot booth babes not ugly ones that's worth $5 :/

In a pole on Gamefaq, the Wii is currently the system the majority of people say they will own by next year (27%). PS3 is second (17%) and X-Box 360 comes in third (5% lol). Next is oxning two systems, and a PS3 & Wii combo made 16%, Wii and 360 13%, and PS3 and 360 5%. 6% say all three while 8% say none. So it looks as if the 360 isn't going to be winning this one. At least, not without Halo. PS3 remains in the game, but that may be based on the advanced tech of the Blu-Ray alone. I'm thinking that maybe the technology community should just give up on the HD-DVD format now. It's going to get stomped. I just wonder what kind of games Nintendo will make when the cost of using Blu-Ray goes down to something accessible and they make a system using it. My guess is that's what they're waiting for. But they'd better not try putting out two versions of the system like Sony and Microsoft. That would just be annoying. Why oh why couldn't they have had DS Lite from the beginning?

Yyyeeeeeah. Wii is FTW this time around. Kojima begged to have snake in SSBB. Begged. It must be good.

Halo Three with be awesome too. The graphics are GREAT. That trailer was using the same graphics as the gameplay. It's from one third thru the game. And they brought back the old assault rifle! : D

I think that playstation was a bit lacking. Indeed, Samus owned it.

Though I'm not sure if they showed it there, I think SPORE will be most popular game with SSBB under it, or vice versa.

It's just you. The PS fanbase is HUGE and they have great third party support. Fans of PS2 are most likely to be fans of PS3 because of the games that made PS1&2 so successful. The PS3 has the more wider variety of games IMO than the Wii. It does not lack violence for older gamers, it has sports like Madden, it has racing, it has RPGs that sell, and finally, it has GTA IV while Nintendo is the only 1 that doesn't.

Resident Evil 4 on the Cube didn't work. A console with the least violence having a franchise game with loads of violence is out of place.
360 is more on Sci-Fi FPS and has little Japanese RPGs which people love. They only have 1 killer app and that's Halo. Even Nintendo has more than that. Splinter Cell and Oblivion aren't even considered killer apps to most people. While Splinter Cell is great to some people I've met, it's been competing with the father of stealth named Solid Snake.

If there is a console to die out first, I'd say the 360 because they need more than 1 killer app. A lot of their games are on the PC. So why should people buy a 360 when they can just use their computers? Sony and Nintendo doesn't have to put their games on the PC so the fans only have 1 option available. That's to buy their console of course.

Or, if the Wii makes the same mistakes as the GC, then it will probably lose to the XBOX again. Not Zelda, Super Smash, Mario, and the other Nintendo games could save the Cube. Even with its cheap price, the Cube came in last.
