Seppie was diffucult to defeat if you hadnt done any of the side quest..didnt get any of the side characters...and was lvl 99, that being said if you did the same with the weapon of the sea..sep was a heck of alot easier...you didnt have a time constraint like you did with the weapon of the sea...now THAT was hard.

Plus it's the same reason people don't particually like EXE Bass or Shadow. They're angsty bishouen types. And that draws in a lot of around 12-13 fangirls (like HK said). Plus they do need to let FF7 go and play other FF games.

Hey, I haven't played FF7 in ages.
I really just love the story behind it.
I don't think Sephiroth was ever meant to be a bishounen character. I, again, blame it all on the fangirls.
You are right about the angst, for the most part. There was one period in the game (the beginning), where Sephiroth was all angsty and shiz. But, angst soon turned into anger. Then anger morphed into insanity, which is what you should see Sephiroth for.
I feel like I'm the only intelligent Sephiroth fan now..... >_<

I'm not a huge fan of the Final Fantasy series, but I've never been particularly interested in Sephiroth. I don't really like his design, and from what I can tell (mind you I haven't seen Advent Children) he has very little personality. Besides, my favorite FF character is Yuffie, and she and Sephiroth are like oil and water.

Personally, I dislike Sephiroth. He is an overly powerful, emo, freak! He thinks his mother is a mutant for crying out loud. I also dislike his backstory. But his sword is pretty sweet. Even thought it defies all logic. But I guess you are right Jenova, it is Final **FANTASY**.

I like Cloud. He is a clone of Sephiroth, which I find very weird, that has a giant sword that defies logic also. Cloud's backstory is pretty good. It has some of the most confusing plots, but overall, I like it.

Yeah I know, I saw Advent Children. And I'm not sterotyping. Emo is just one of those overated titles like popular and goth. It's just an attitude that has a reputation. In fact, it pisses me off big type! I was just calling Sephiroth Emo because I was just poking fun at him. I don't really think he's Emo, I think he's just a twisted Maniac!

Well since FF7 is probably the most well known FF game, it makes sense for the cast of FF7 to be the most well known as well. Cloud is probably the most well known FF main character. Tifa (or Aeris) is probably the most well known FF female. Obviously, Sephiroth is pretty much the most well known FF villain

My other reason would be because of his design, background story, sword, and battles. IMO, Nomura took fantasy to a point where people are like gods with endless power. Like:
Bahamut Zero, SuperNova, wielding giant and long swords
Let's not forget FF8: Blasting Zone, My Final Heaven, Eden
Or anything else that involves the planet(s) being altered/destroyed numerous times by humans/summons.

I find him an interesting and compelling villain. I think the best villains are ones that are as fully realized as the heroes, have motivations for their actions (beyond WORLD DOMINATION/DESTRUCTION, MWA HAHAHA), and have a unique connection to the hero. Sephiroth has all of these. He's just an excellent foil for Cloud.

I don't think he's my favourite video game villain, and definitely not my favourite overall villain. But he fills the role quite well.

And while I adore One-Winged Angel...it really has nothing to do with the character. Obviously many people have trouble seperating the two. -_-

I think Sephiroth was an adequate villain for the most part. He did bad stuff, killed people, yadda-yadda, and was a foil for Cloud (who ISN'T a clone of Sephiroth, btw). He's just not a very well realized character. They try and give him some depth by showing how he was during Cloud's flashback, but his turn around from well respected war hero to mad man was far too swift and complete to be believable. From that point on he's a fairly typical villain, power hungry with delusions of grandeur who wants to become a god, etc. etc. There's nothing really "deep" about his character at all. He's just this really strong guy who's killing people and being evil and stuff. He isn't even that much of a nutjob as some people are saying. Cloud was more insane than Sephiroth was for the vast majority of the game.

I think this is more of an issue with the game itself, but I really think I would have been happier if Jenova was the endgame boss of FF7 instead of Sephiroth. If you really think about it, Jenova was the real villain in the game anyway.

PS: Kefka was better. :-p
