The list has been updated again, the most frequent it's been I believe:

Isaac (Golden Sun - 2001)

Third Party Suggestions

Magnus (Quest) (Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen - 1993)
Thomas the Kung-Fu Master (Irem) (Spartan X [Kung-Fu in the U.S.] - 1985)

Golden Sun isn't a third party series am I right?

But in other news, Snake's bio was updated today.

He's going to use explosives rather than guns, which we sort of knew already.

Also a new stage has been revealed in his bio, it looks like a MGS-esque level.

I like his symbol. It reminds me of fox'es alittle. But he'll be fun to play as.
What does everyone think the two little minigames will be? Target and what?
It's pretty obvious that they'll have a target test but what will the other one be? Platforms or the home run contest again? Or something new.

Golden Sun I think has a chance of getting in there, even though it IS owned by some other small company.

Just as a side note, some people who I think might be definite pics that they could use for the final release:

Sakurai has said that there will be no manga characters, which I assume entails anime characters as well, thank God too.

And I don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but Sakurai said that there will only be one to two thrid party characters max. My personal bets are Sonic the Hedgehog and classic Megaman (or someone else and classic Megaman).

Dude... Marx? I'd Love to see him in this game. I'd buy 10! XD Seriously, maybe they could just put everyone in and make that'd make it worthwhile...
And Felix being in the game would be cool too... and Muddy! I remember hearing about Mole Mania, it was a really good game! XD

...yeah I know I should get my head out of the gutter. If they do somehow feel like keeping Pichu do you think they might put in other handycapped characters?

Wait a minute.... Bow Wow is being considered? o_O

If anything, I think he'd be an item rather than a character. Wouldn't be surprised if that was that case for a few of the other characters as well.

It's not nearly a definate list. It's just things he's considering from fan suggestions.

And as Starone said, the 3rd party section alone is only gonna get 1 or 2 more characters max.

The FOX symbol is also assosiated with Foxdie, the illness that almost everyone contracts in MGS, so it does make sense that Snake has it as a his symbol. Not only that, but Big Boss is also known as Snake. Big Boss is codenamed Naked Snake throughout the game and the Snake from the other games is Solid Snake... though, I think that's common knowledge. I want to see if the costume changes for him will include any of the full camos from MGS3... or the tuxedo.

I don't think they said they wouldn't be using his knife, just no guns. There'd also be stuff like missle based weapons, his box and if you look at one of the screens now in his profile, he's using Martial arts for normal attacks.
