So, I've had my Wacom pen tablet for over half a year now, but I've never really done anything serious with it. So, I decided to sit down and try something. Well, this turned out. Though there's a lot of really obvious flaws that I feel like I could have avoided had I been drawing with pen and paper--this tablet will take some getting used to--this didn't turn out half bad. So, behold. Netto... standing casually...

I think it's pretty nice work. It's looks pretty good for a first time using a tablet. And it may just be because I can't/don't draw but I don't see many problems.

Something about the curve of the face seems off... that single fold in the vest is really out of place, and the vest overall isn't straight. The center line of it is crappy, and in comparison with the rest of his body, it's not lined up correctly. Plus, the folding in his crotch is a little awkward... one person I showed it to actually thought I was intentionally drawing him "excited". Huh... That and the hands are kinda off... and something about the nose and eyes aren't completely satisfactory either. But I'll improve... If anything, I loved how my coloring turned out.

Great...now I feel dirty because of a line that was extended too far. You had to mention that and I had to look to see what you meant. Most appropriate time to use the Bleh icon ever...:/

Using it for the first time, I think it's very well done. I don't think there's really much wrong with the hands. Suppose maybe I'd have his right hand clenched tighter over fingers dangling, if that's what you're having issues with. About the face - probably a little too rounded on his right cheek area and could come in a little, and that's what might be throwing you off. I have the same problem lots of the time. Just that little adjustment seems to always solve the whole eye/nose/mouth proportion issue. And I agree with you, the coloring and shading looks fabulous. It really stands out with that background.

Major props for trying something different and look forward to seeing more of your work.

Regardless, I like the most of this magnificent picture. The style, the color, use of the shades, highlights and the effects.

Thanks for the comments. I know I'm probably being too rough on myself, but hey... I wouldn't improve if I thought it was prefcet--err, perfect... I may try to pump out another drawing today or tomorrow. I'd like to try drawing a character other than Netto or Rockman... those two seem to be the only EXE characters I ever draw anymore. (And the occasional Meiru.) I think I'll give Kirisaki a try next time... and I'll actually make the canvas large enough so he can have legs. =P

I'll be looking forward to your further works. Take your time, though, so that they will be well looking. Good luck!
