I found the awesomest board game.

Well, my friend found it, and according to some gaming nerds site it's only the 4th awesomest. Still up there!

Anyway, I'm talking about The Settlers of Catan. It's a game where you, well, try to settle an island. Coming from a family that normally plays Monopoly, or only plays Monopoly since I refuse to join in on scrabble and other word-related games, Catan is a welcome change. It takes like 30 or 45 minutes to play, not 2 hours or days. It's also like 50 kagillion times more customizable, and I've seen people do pretty creative things with monopoly.

Anyway, for those knew to it you collect reasource cards by rolling dice, if you have a settlement touching that number you get to pick up that resource, and you buy stuff like settlements with those reasource. First to 10 points wins!

Anyone else have this? Anyone else customize the rules and board? When I get back home I'm so buying at least one game expansion. Boardgame expansion packs struck me as funny first time I haeard of it. Is it like Brood Wars? That was all I could compare it to. I'm thinking of buying Cities and Knights since my friend has Seafarers.
