Burst mode - a super mode of sorts that activates when one is winning by a large enough margin. Burst mode is confirmed to increase strength and may have other effects. Some burst modes cause character transformations, while others just result in an aura around the character.
Confirmed Burst Mode Forms:
Goku: Super Saiyan
Vegeta: Super Saiyan
Trunks: Super Saiyan
Gohan: Super Saiyan 2
Naruto: Red Chakra Aura
Sasuke: Curse Seal 1
Rock Lee: 5 Gates
Kakashi: Lifts up headband and aura
Luffy: Gear 2

| Wow, that is such a serious lack of characters for three very popular series. How come DBZ is the only one that gets two extra chars. I hate it when a game is made with a lack of characters just to set up of a sequel (though there's no knowledge that there absolutely will be one), especially if the series the game is based off of allows for much more than the game puts out... |

Rumors have been flying around about Ace being unlockable, but so far, the only support for this claim are the two unknown files located in the game's software, and noone has been able to unlock him.
It appears that while two more characters were intended to be put into the game, for some reason they weren't finished, and those two files appear to be incomplete character data. So there are only 20 characters in the game.

I'd like to get it, but I already blew all my money on Naruto: GNT4. T_T
But, I heard of this on the Nintendo forums. It seems good, but so few choices as characters to play as? I'd at least like to see Hinata from Naruto, Smoker from One Piece, and Buu from DBZ in it.
I wish MORE Jump characters were in it. Shaman King, Yu Yu Hakusho, Yu Gi Oh, I'd even like Hikaru No Go! in it.
Think about it! Sai beating up Goku! :D |

If the post above with the "burst forms" is correct. His power up is Gear Second, which basically allows him to move at extreme speeds and attack with extremely fast versions of his original moves by pumping more blood from his heart into his muscles and other organs.
The game looked interesting, but 20 playable characters? Lame. Robin, Franky, Smoker, and one CP9 member should've been included. Not as bad as the first Naruto games puny seven (or ninne, I forget) characters though.. I'll probably wait for the sequel.
