Nintendo and Opera have released a promo video (In Japanese) for the upcoming browser for the DS. Check it out - looks pretty sweet.

Opera's also doing a web browser for the Wii, although I don't think I'll be doing much web surfing at 480i :P Anyone who's ever used a Standard-Definition TV for a computer screen knows that TVs have terrible, fuzzy resolution. (SDTV has resolution equal to 640x480 and it's stretched out to the size of the screen). Might be somewhat clear on at 480p, though. _________________

Unless you can run homebrew or flash off the web browser, it's completely stupid and useless to me. |

I'm excited about it, too.
Just think: Taking a DS instead of a laptop for casual browsing in wireless hotspots. ^_^ _________________ TGS 2007:MISSED! T_T |

I think it'd be fun, but really it's kinda useless if you have to bewithin 100 feet of an internet capable computer to use it or a hotspot. And if you live in a place like me where there are only a few hotspots then the only time you'd use it is when there is an internet capable computer right in front of you, why not use that? |

I don't think it's meant to replace your home internet n.n I'm sure Nintendo knows better than to try that. I think it's just to be convinient around hotspots and such.
Looks nifty. Can't wait for it here :3 _________________ all i ever wanted was the world |

I'm looking forward to it. You wouldn't believe how many times I've wished I could check my email at the coffee shops, and couldn't because I didn't want to drag my laptop out that day. _________________ One of the three EXE sisters! *Armstrong-style pose*

I am pretty sure during home, it works as a wireless computer, just taking some internet usage from your connection. As at outside, it uses Wi-Fi, of course.
It's sweet, and could make me get a DS just for this. I've always can't decide between DS and PSP since PSP has the website browser, but now DS got this, I will definitely get DS, consider the two screen-zoom is perfect and how the typing of everything is so much easier. (It took me forever to just type up the URL of my own site on PSP. >_>) _________________

Wow, VERY nice. I like how many different formats you can use with it, the different ways you can type, and just the general look of it. The best idea for a web browser on a small screen is to have a lot of options, and it looks like Opera nailed this one right on the head. Now I can't wait to see the Wii browser. _________________ Stuck In The Middle With You; a Metroid and Halo crossover

Agreed. While I don't own a DS, I feel this is exactly what the target for the product is. Cell phones these days can check your e-mail, but it's often very slow and expensive to use. It's not meant for you to sit down and surf the web. It's for those times you happen to be at a hotspot and have your DS... and you just need to check something really quick. It's a convinience.
As for the Wii, the browser is going to be a template for many of Nintendo's online services... that's probably where its going to see most of its use. Letting it surf the web as well will likely be more of a "because it can". _________________

Why do you have two? Unless one is a DS Lite. BTW, this web browsing thing is an awesome idea. _________________

well, im planning to get a DS lite and still keep my original one. the awesome thing about this browser is that almost my whoule college campus has wifi! oh, and i agree about the laptop thing. which brings me to mention: when i first got my DS, people (older ones) asked me if it was a new laptop...i guess it's becoming one now! _________________ Avatar by Tabby (of my NetNavi, GuincoolMind.EXE) : : :

AngelfanA16 wrote: | Why do you have two? Unless one is a DS Lite. | My first one's the original platinum silver, which I bought on its release day in Japan. I brought that one home and my little brother never let go of it since.
So I bought a candy pink one on my next trip to Japan so I'll have a unit for Nintendogging while he still won't let go of the silver one
But I'm planning on selling the pink one before I get a DS Lite :]
Ninja Silva wrote: | ...to bad I already have a DS | Er, it's not a new kind of DS.
It's software, and you buy it like you buy the games. _________________ TGS 2007:MISSED! T_T |

I like the sound of this thing. Using the touch screen to browse the web? Very nice. I look forward to hearing more about it. |

I'm actually happy that they released the browser. It's useful to browse the net while on different places or even a local Starbucks with just a DS. Or if I go to my sister's apartment I can just use the DS (if it's true that my godmother bought it T_T ) instead of using her crappy Laptop. _________________
