For my opinion, if there is a counterpart, probably Shadow. Just make him slower on attacks and different yet more powerful attacks.

No WAY. If there were any OTHER Sonic chracters, make them different. Shadow could easily be given his gun to make him his own character instead of just a copy. That'd be a total waste of what other additional characters we're getting.

Yeah... realistically, I don't think he has a chance but he does fit in to the requirements for 3rd party characters that can appear in the game.

That was another rumor that managed to get on to a couple of fansites, but was proven false I believe.

This thread has been dead for a while and in the process...have we learned anything new from Nintendo about the game?I read in the latest "Nintendo Power" that they wish to see Crash Bandicoot in as a 3rd party fighter.My opinion?

It's kinda weird to have him in there,as nobody has heard of him in a game thus far for now.Other people they'd like to see Vincent Valentine and Cloud Strife come in.*gets stampeded on by fans**mopping drool off floor*

If you ask me Sonic and Rockman (origonal) are the most likely 3rd parties to make it in.

I think that would be two of the best ones. Now crash and bonk or simon belmont and bomberman. Those are two other good choices. But given the choice, I'd choose sonic and megaman then simon and bomberman. Then crash and bonk.

Personally, I don't want any 3rd-party characters anymore for now. SSB always had the reputation of a 'nintendo' melee, and I don't really want to see that ruined. But again, since it was decided by Nintendo that there will be 3rd parties-characters, I am guessing something along Capcom or SEGA's characters will make it in. Or Namco.

It's not that I don't want see Sonic using Spin-Dash to torture the hell out of Mario or Rock shooting at Samus, but it just won't feel a Super Smash Bros. series with those characters. And rather of 3rd-party characters, I've rather much have more other Nintendo characters in - such as Diddy Kong. Of course, it'll be great if both can come in in a great amount of characters - if Wii really have more potential than I expect out of it.

The game does look really good, Pit and Metaknight will be awesome, as well as Meta's stage.

I think that if they put in Megaman, they should do EXE since it's all nintendo, and there are lots of possible attacks. He could use different battle chips, or style changes or something. And if he has a counterpart it will either be his ultimate enemy Bass, or his rival Protoman.

If Sonic is in, I think spindash and homing attack would be nice, and I would think Shadow for a counterpart, and they could give him a gun.

As for non third-party I think Paper Mario would be AWESOME he could dodge by turning sideways, he could use a spring or spin jump for a jump attack, use his hammer, glide and strike with airplane,and maybe use some partner attacks. (Also The Palace of Shadows would make a great lvl.)

So I think

-Paper Mario
-Felix (cool magic)
-Shadow Mario
-StarWolf (rival of Fox, instead of his friends)
-King DeDeDe
-Lord Crump!
-Maybe Cackletta or something
-And More!
