Yeah, your question was covered earlier in this thread, mega rock. You do need all 190 standard chips, even though the numbers are broken up weird like that. That's why tournaments are your friend early on. Most of the time, the harder to get level 3 standard chips can be won by entering in Internet 11 or Undernet 3's tourney (eh, I forget what the exact portals are called off the top of my head). You can't even fight viruses strong enough to get some of those chips until after you beat Forte and get your final tournament trophy. Just keep winning those and try to get used to stopping the reel at the right moment. I usually see the chip I want and try to time it, seems like if I count to 5, it'll be there, so I push the button to stop it as I finish saying 4, and I land on my chip. Doesn't work every time, but I've had good success. _________________ Avatar art thanks to toberboobap, animated gif thanks to Dr. Wily II

I need help. Yes, I do sound stupid, but how do I get the NAVI gate to work? I mean, in battle, I tried plugging the chips in, and it did nothing, and how do I install Starman? |

Well, I'll just assume you've got the gate plugged in correctly on top of your GBA. Make sure that's pushed all the way in first. When you're in battle, you've still gotta pay attention to your custom bar. Standard chips can only be used when the bar is yellow, Mega chips when it's blue, Giga chips when it's red. So, if you're starting the battle and trying to use BluesSP for example, it won't work because your custom bar isn't far enough. But you could take a simple widesword chip, make sure the side with the image/name is facing you, push it completely down into the chip slot, and the chip should take effect, then you pull it right back out. They can be glitchy at times, depending on how it hits the connectors or something. Like when I used my Thunderman Navi Data chip, I actually had to use it twice, because somehow it recognized it as Junkman first. But that was a bonus, since I don't have a Junkman Navi Data Chip!
To install any Navi Data, you need to be at the Navi Select screen. Starting out, you'll just see Rock, Roll, Guts and Number. Just insert your Starman ND chip at that screen, and he should become playable. Otherwise, I don't know what to tell you, it should work. _________________ Avatar art thanks to toberboobap, animated gif thanks to Dr. Wily II

The problem is, none of my chips work! My Anubis chip worked a few days ago, but it won't work now. I used all but Starman on my last go through, but I had to restart cause I didn't know you could re set the time. I only have the chips that came with the game and Anubis.
Also, When I put Starman's chip in, I get a flashing message near the bottom of the Navi select screen. |

SO sorry for the double post, but I figured it out. I looked at the online guides, but they don't tell me on how to unlock more Navis. Gold liscense needed, right?
Also, how did you guys aquire the special chip only Navis? I can't go to Japan, and there aren't any on Ebay...I'll buy Iceman and Plantman's if someone puts them to auction. |

A little more than just a gold license. I think it was previously posted, if you went back and read through this thread, or if you check out the guides at gamefaqs. Essentially, you have to beat the game (Forte) with a character, apply for the official tournament at the desk at the end of Internet 12, and you get a trophy for winning the tourney. Different Navis unlocked depending on how many characters you beat the tourney with.
As for the special Navi Data chips, 2 ways to go about it.
1 - Chip Hacking: What I consider an urban legend (cause I've wasted enough extra chips and it never worked for me >_<) Again, go through this thread to find out where/how to attempt that. Of course, if you don't have any other chips, I guess you won't be doing this.
2 - Ebay/Online stores: If you're lucky. Yeah, I haven't seen one pop up in forever. And the seller who usually had them probably won't be selling much more by the sound of things. But that's how I got a good chunk of them. Still looking for a Plantman and Knightman myself. But I know they won't come cheap anymore. I think there actually was an online store that might have booster packs...don't remember if it was Toys N Joys or ToyWiz or another one off the top of my head...but I don't think they had any packs that included the special 7 (not counting Starry), just like a Numberman or Woodman pack. If you want, I've got a list of links HERE, near the bottom, check those I mentioned, maybe they're still in stock somewhere. _________________ Avatar art thanks to toberboobap, animated gif thanks to Dr. Wily II

(I know that this is the EXE 4.5 help topic... so hopefully it'll be okay if I ask here... if it doesn't need to be in here, I apologize...)
My friend has offered to buy me a present for my birthday, I asked her if she could possibly get me 4.5 off of Play Asia, and she said yes, she could, when she gets her new job, which is going to be soon.
So, it has me wondering two things...
1.) Do you need to have ANY prior knowledge of Japanese to enjoy 4.5? Or would it still be fun, even with a walkthrough?
2.) (For those that have used Play-Asia) How easy is it to order through Play-Asia? It mentioned that customs could charge fees that had to be paid... which worries me, has anyone had any difficulty?
I really do want to play as Fireman and Starman, it seems like fun... that and the added functionality for BN4 (also I'm getting soon) entices me as well. ^_^ I'm just not wanting to waste her money, since the Special Edition costs so much.
Also, Rock Miyabi, ToyWiz has the Operation Battle Boosters, Series 2 and 3 could any Navi Chips possibly be included with those? |

Well, I can't answer your Play-Asia question, but I'll try on the rest. Do you need to know Japanese? No, as long as you read through a guide like gamefaqs, you'll get a hang of things quick. I don't know Japanese, and I didn't have many problems. Sure, it would be nice to know what they're saying half the time, and from what I've read there are a lot of Japanese cultural jokes that people like me might not get anyways. But if you've played an EXE game, you should be able to pick up on it quick. Mostly, it's just a game to be able to play as other characters and to act like you're really an operator by slotting-in chips, even though you can play without the gate. You're just limited with how many chips you can use at a time, moreso than previous EXE games. No letter codes in this one! I think it's still enjoyable, plenty of replay value, and at times, a nice challenge.
Looking back now, Toywiz was the store I was thinking of. So yeah, it looks like the booster packs are all sold out now. And the only two Navi Data chips they sold solo are sold out as well. I've never bought a 2 pack like you mentioned, Nova, but if I remember right, no, you can't get Navi Data in them. I think there was a chance of Megas or possibly Gigas, but I don't believe any ND. My guess is they are more randomly inserted than the US packages, which were always the same, but I'm just guessing here. The Booster packs that have ND come with 10 chips, and the ND chip is the clearly visible chip in the package, with character art on the box for whoever's set of chips it is. Like the Fireman booster pack had a Fireman ND showing, but you always got Black Bomb, Fireman SP, etc, etc., with his pack. When you get your 4.5, there are pics of those booster packs in the instruction manual. Good luck finding them anymore, though, because I have no clue where else you could look. _________________ Avatar art thanks to toberboobap, animated gif thanks to Dr. Wily II

Ah... thanks Rock, that clears some things up for me. ^_^
I know I have found some Navi Chips on Rinkya, but now that I know about those Navi Booster Packs, especially Fireman, I may look around on there again.
In fact... I think I found what you're talking about on Rinkya/Yahoo Japan! It was an auction for the Protoman, Roll, Thunderman, Junkman, Metalman, and Woodman Navi Starters... I think it was 100 yen at the moment...something like that. Again, thanks for the info Rock... hopefully I'll be the (proud) owner of 4.5 very soon! |

I'd prefer to unlock them the easier way, working through the game. Or, a gameshark. That could be doable. |

Well, really the Navi Chips aren't too hard to find... there was (I think) a special set for the Navis that could ONLY be unlocked via the BCG that's on Rinkya every once in a while... too bad I don't know how to use it... they have so many fun stuff. ^_^
Ahem, anyway... it's possible to modify any battlechip to fool the BCG into thinking it's reading...say a Shadowman Navi Chip. Although I've never tried it, but I will as soon as I get some spare battlechips... -_-;
Anyway, I talked to my friend about it, and it'll be a while before I get 4.5...but she said that as soon as she can, she'll get it... just not right away. Until then, I have the Advanced PET as a distraction, and school.
For those that know, I remember that Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire (Emerald as well) eventually stop any clock related things after one year... is the same true for 4.5? |

Couldn't tell you about the clock...
But hacking chips works. I've only had to use one chip to do it...and I the only time I had troube was when I was trying to get Knightman. I had to insert the chip and pull it out rapidly. .-. _________________

Okay, I'm so confused, again. Well, I'm playing as Numberman, my hp is 920 right now. First, what's his max hp? Anyone know?
Second....why won't it let me take the exams for the silver and gold liscense?
I mean, I already beat Videoman, and I did EVERYTHING right according to the online guides to how to open said tournaments.
I talked to the guy below the guy who gave me the exam ticket, and I logged out and got a e mail form some scientist, but when I skip ahead to the weekend and choose the tournament button, Numberman says two lines and ends the with an exclamation point. And he won't let me choose it.
As for opening for the gold tourny liscence exam, I cleared the three Navis challenges, and showed the guy 20 bug frags, but when I log out, nothing happens.
And I can't read a spek of japanese, so....help? |

Alright. Easy question first. Numberman's max is 1000. Pretty much everyone is 1000, with a few 900s, a few 1300s and Woodman gets 1500 for bouncing around like an idiot nonstop.
As for the exams, well, which is it? Silver or gold? If you are playing as Numberman and haven't completed the silver, I don't think you can even fight the 3 navis for the gold, let alone enter the tourney. You can't do both for one navi in a week. I assume that's why you aren't getting an email for the gold, because you haven't beaten the silver yet. If you recieved an email in your second inbox to enter the silver tourney, you should be able to enter it during the weekend. Did you by chance lose in the tourney on the weekend, save after losing, and try to enter again? If so, you can't. Once you've lost, you can't re-enter that weekend and you have to go through the registration process all over during a weekday. You never want to save if you've lost a tourney, really. That's the only thing I can think of why it won't let you enter.
If you actually do have the silver (it's easy to see in your key items), and still can't get an email for the gold, it could be that you either:
- Haven't finished talking to the official behind the counter (obviously, if it looks like the same thing appears on the screen, you're good). I had this problem after finishing the 10 question exam, I'd forget to finish talking to the official and I couldn't enter the silver or whatever until I went back and finished the conversation.
- Aren't trying between the correct times, which is...12-6 PM or something like that, I forget, check the guide if I'm off.
Right now, that's all I can think of. Hopefully something will work. _________________ Avatar art thanks to toberboobap, animated gif thanks to Dr. Wily II

Well, I've beaten the Silver and Gold everyday tourny umpteen times, and got the email from the official about the silver tourny in my second in box after I supposedly register for it, but the thing is, when I go to the tourny on the weekend, it's the same guys.
No Topman or Sparkman, and I don't get ranked on my fighting. So I have to beat the tourny at least once that week and THEN I get the silver liscense tourny open?
I'm so confused. :puku: _________________

You're confused?!! Now I'm totally lost! -_-;
OK, so are you using some device/cheat to play it everyday?! You sound like you're fighting in the daily tournaments which are at odd 1 hour intervals like 4-5PM (whatever the board says), the one in Internet 2's portal for example. Top and Spark are never in those; it's playable characters, not bosses. And you aren't ranked. Top and Spark are definitely in the silver license tourney, which you can only enter on Saturday or Sunday. If they aren't in it, and you aren't getting ranked, that's not the silver tourney.
Let's say it's Friday afternoon at 3 PM. You go to the official's desk in Internet 3 and properly apply for the tourney. Plug out, email comes to your second inbox. You have to read it in order to be able to enter. If you've got 5 Navi's all going for the silver license one week, only read one email, the other 4 can't enter the tourney until you've read each email, even though it says the exact same thing. Wait until Saturday afternoon (although it can be any time on the weekend), you're sure there is no unread mail in your inbox. Being the weekend now, you'll get another email from the official. In this one, he's letting you know you can enter tournaments now. Make sure you read that, again, so there is no unread mail. The tourney button is now at the top of your list, instead of plug in, on the main menu. It's got a tournament bracket image. It's only there on Saturday and Sunday. You click on it, and you should start tourney play. If your character has the short two sentence like you said, either they aren't eligible for the tourney, you haven't read your mail, or they've already entered and won/lost. _________________ Avatar art thanks to toberboobap, animated gif thanks to Dr. Wily II

Okay, thanks!...I think. And no, I don't use cheat devices. I just play the everyday tourneys once a day. Or if I'm bored, I use the internal clock..>_>
