It seems the Wii will retail in the US for $250, while it'll go for $213 in Japan.
The release date is November 17 in the US and December 2 in Japan.
The games are $50 apeice here while ranging from (about) $41 to $58 dollars in Nintendo's home country.
Wiimotes are $32 and the nunchaku attachment is going for $15.
Also, there were many other goodies.
Lots of juicy info! It seems Nintendo has finally broken their silence!
I do find it odd, though, that they're releasing it here in the US first. _________________

Not really. Most of first few Wi-Fi DS games (if not all) came out in the US months before they came out in Japan.
About $300 for a "starter" set, eh?
Can't wait ^__^ _________________ TGS 2007:MISSED! T_T |

I can't wait for Nov. 19th! I'm very glad it's coming out before December - I won't have to worry about it interfereing with getting my friends/family Christmas gifts. My plan is to buy the Wii system, another game (probably Red Steel), an extra controller/nunchuck (so my parents/friends can play), and possibly the 50,000 Wii points/Classic controller. Good thing I have a full-time job to pay for it all ^^;;

I have $260 saved up from my change excursion...so I'll keep collecting until about...the end of October. Ill probably reserve a Wii tomorrow then....if I can.
I don't plan on getting another game with it...other than Twilight Princess. Which I've had on reserve for about...a year or so now. I can change it to the Wii version now. \o/
I also changed the title to something cooler. \o\~ _________________

As a note when comparing the Japanese price tag:
"To get a better idea of what 25,000 yen is in USD, one needs to take purchasing power parity into account. While the direct translation is around $215, the latest PPP data (found here: http://www.oecd.org/std/ppp) shows 81 units in Japan to equate 100 units in the USA."
So: 25,000 x (100 / 81) = 30864 Yen. Convert that number, and it's more like $262.75 USD. _________________ (\ ºvº\ (\

I just remembered that Corruption isn't a launch title..
I'm really pissed at G-faqs. The users there are actually complaining about the price and release date. _________________

I'm surprised they are. Most of them were expecting a $200 pricetag, or maybe lower. $250 isn't that bad, but I'd rather they just ditch Wii Sports and bundle Zelda with the Wii instead. Still, I'll wait around 2008 at the latest before I get my Wii.
BTW, what's so wrong about the release date? It's only 2 days after the PS3 launch. I don't see the big deal. _________________

I was slightly taken aback by nintendo's comment 'below 250' over and over again then we get 250 on the button and I was hoping for 200. But I'll pay my three hundred canadian dollars and hopefully be left fullfilled and by fulfilled I mean filled the hole the PS3 would have left in my wallet. |

It's not $250 on the button. It's $249.99, which is, in fact, below $250. XP
There were also a lot of reports, rumors and speculation that the Wii was going to be released before the PS3 launched. I think that's what most people are going on about in regards to the Wii launch date of November 19th. _________________ (\ ºvº\ (\

Wii coming out before the Japan release isn't really weird. I rememebered, if memory serves right, that the DS was also out in the US before the Japan release.
Due to my somehow-idiotic-mind, I thought SSBB was a launch title, and now realizing it isn't, I am probably not going to get a Wii and might get a DS lite instead. One being Wii doesn't have much of the games I like (Yes, I know Twilight Princess is awesome, but it really isn't worth around 250 bucks to play it when I can play a GC version in my friend's house. XP) Again, if more news that is appealing to me come out, I might buy it. It's about time I get a new console, anyway. XD _________________

The date doesn't surprise me. The price disappoints me a little since I kept thinking it'd be more around $220. This'll be the first system I buy at launch, though, since I just can't say "no" to a Zelda game. _________________ Red Green's words of wisdom:

November 19? $250? Sounds good to me. Releasing it before the PS3 would've been nice, but I suppose it can't be helped.
One nice thing about the release date, though, is that it's 3 days before my sister's birthday; maybe I can get her something Wii-related. :]
And I honestly don't understand why everyone's getting so worked up about bundling Wii Sports with the console itself. It's not that big of a game, and I doubt too many people would buy it by itself. Hell, it just means people who are still unsure can get a taste of true motion control right out of the box. Smart move, Nintendo. _________________ Stuck In The Middle With You; a Metroid and Halo crossover

Get her a wii-mote. XD
I really don't have a problem with the $250 or release date...I need to get secure $30 anyway to get me to $300. _________________

Well from what I've seen from the Wii I can tell you its Worth 250.
Alot of people are looking at the games on release date and are waiting to get it later which is cool as well ^.^, But I've figure that the potential of the Wii is so great that the games that come out later for the Wii will be Awesome! _________________
