Please Fully Explain Dark Chips In BN4.

I've seen mention of Evil Chips in one's folder and such. What are these, and how do they relate to Dark Chips? I've never used very many of them. Could someone explain the Dark Chips and Evil Chips? Please?

A dark chip is a sorce of dark power. Pick one up and they will eventually work your mind on rather to use them or not. You may think oh big deal I just won't use it but you'll see how it can break you down to using it. They accure when your navi is fustrated and anxious. If you use a dark chip it will cost 1HP which you can never get back, it will always be 1 less to what you could of had even when you buy +HP and stuff. I don't know what an evil chip is though, sorry.

Oh well, might as well answer here anyway.

Dark Chips - Two appear in the custom window when Megaman is in "worried" status. Megaman gets "worried" when he takes a lot of hits and fails with a lot of attacks. It's basically when you're in your most desparate moments. There are eight types of Dark Chips in BN4, see the other Dark Chip thread for explanations of them. When you use a Dark Chip in battle Megaman will get a glitch and go into "evil" ststus. At the end of the battle you will lose one HP permanently if you used a Dark Chips. You lose just one HP regardless of how many Dark Chips you used in that particular battle. At the end of the battle where Dark Chips are used Megaman will also lose "karma", an invisible stat that determines his colour. The higher the karma, the brighter he is. You gain karma when you win a battle without dark chips and lose it otherwise. If Megaman loses enough karma after a few battles, he'll become dark enough to go into "Evil Mode", this means he'll start every battle in evil status and be able to use Dark Chips all the time. All other "emotions" will be disabled, including Soul Unison, Full Synchro, Anger Mode, Worried, etc. Evil Megaman will remove Holy panels by stepping on them, he won't be able to use Light Chips like GunDelSol and HolyPanel, and he will gain the abiity to use the...

Evil Chips - These include: NoiseStorm, DarkHole, DarkLine, BlackWing, Muramasa, ElementDark, Anubis, BugCurse, BugCharge, BlackBarrier, and the DS navi chips. They're just like normal chips except you can only use them in Evil Mode. Evil Chips don't affect your HP or karma like Dark Chips do, you just have to use enough Dark Chips to get to use them. there's also one Dark PA, DarkMessiahNeo.

OK...A DarkChip is a generic chip that will appear in slots 9 and 10 of your Custom Screen when your navi is worried--it has taken many hits without dealing any back. If you decide to use them, they will deduct 1 from your maximum life total, and it cannot be restored in any way, shape, or form. Using a DarkChip also lower your navi's karma, which is a measure of where on the scale your navi is on. The darker it is, the less hits it takes for a navi to become worried.

An EvilChip is a chip that can only be used effectively by a DarkSoul navi--i.e., if your karma is low enough. The EvilChips are, I think,

Anubis
Muramasa
BlackWing
BugCharge
ElemDark
DatkMessiahNeo (technically a PA, but it is dark as well)

If a light navi tries to use this, it will simply poof with no effect.

Yes, and the damage that the DS navi chips deal is based on the number of holes in play. At least that's what memnarch says, but he's too busy on B-net...

Thank you. That explains a lot. About the evil-chips, when you're Dark, do they simply appear, or do you have to attain them first?

Nope. The EvilChips will be available just like any other chip--through the endurance trials in Under5, smashing ShadeMan or LaserMan and sparing the GMD, S-ranking a ElemperorEX, or just spamming the chip traders or bug frag trader.

Well the ds chips have to come up in your hand. You will still have dark chip options as well as far as I remember. Be sure to have holes if you plan to use DS chips.

Going Dark sounds kind of fun now...Although there's always a way to reverse the situtaion by NOT using dark chips for about like 100+ battles but I guess it's hard...

I only used dark chips twice... and it was always when I was in serious trouble and near deletion...

Question: Can one use evil chips against Duo?Or would it be impossible because u already restrained your Dark Soul?

Going cold turkey with Dark Chips for several hundred battles will reverse the damage to your karma, but not your HP. In fact, if you look at it one way, if you DarkChip away 500 HP then put in SoulCleaner and go all the way back up to brite-lite mode, you've essentially wasted that 500 HP and have nothing to show for it. In that sense, you're better off just keepin' on going and going with darkness since repairs are pretty much out of the question.

Most people will tell you Dark Chips are for losers. I agree. Yes, I have done a whole playtrough while diving right into the DarkChip Deep End, but I bought both versions of the game and still have my BM copy for Light and Purity. My RS copy is practically worthless now with all the damage I've done to it. So don't go playing with darkness unless you're absolutely sure you can deal with the consequences.

As for FinalBoss, Dark Chips are disabled in that battle. Even if you're in Evil Mode you won't be able to use them. You'll still be Evil and won't be able to use Light chips, so going into that battle as a Dark user really puts you at a disadvantage. You can still use Evil chips though, but they won't do you much good. As I said in the other thread, Muramasa may be your only saving grace against FinalBossSP, but I have yet to make it work myself.

That's the main reason why I dun use dark chips or in my case, use them only when there's no choice... Thanks for clarifying my doubts...

I am kind of interested in findind out how evil chips work though... I have them but I've never used them...maybe I'll restart and try it out just for fun... =)
