So you're remixing a song that's really a remix of the song you just remixed, making this a remix of a remix of a...bah, I'm just confusing myself!
Well, the synths do give it a menacing feel, and I think it fits as a fangame song. I really do like the bells as an added orchestration to counter the main gameboy-ish sound. Still, I'd take guitar anyday, but your arrangement at least makes it sound different than the Boss Battle remix you did. _________________ Avatar art thanks to toberboobap, animated gif thanks to Dr. Wily II

Oh, there's guitar, you just can't hear it, and I didn't play it... sadly, I cannot play guitar well enough to do that. And I have been feeling rather out of sorts lately... maybe I should take a break for a bit. _________________ Though some would contest the point that the words I have spoken mean naught, I choose to believe that the words I do speak will reach the souls of all those who choose to internalize their message. Look, it's breaking! First of all, I have finalized (yes again) the Boss Battle Remix, this is the official final version. I also have now taken to calling it Rock With Your Navi... for obvious reasons. www.acelie.com/cyril/mp3/rockwithyournavi.mp3
Also, I have taken the liberty of remaking a couple of the tunes I did specifically for the PNT, the Death Virus battle and the Navi Battle. I also made a special battle theme for a ShadeMan wannabe called BloodMan.

Well, it must really be a Shademan wannabe if it borrows part classic Shadey's theme! I like the tempo to that battle mix, and fun to hear that theme thrown in and rearranged too.
On "Rock With Your Navi"...for the millionth time from me...nice job cleaning that up a bit. Now, my only gripe, probably because I can hear it a little clearer, comes in two parts. From the 1:15-1:28 and 3:12-3:24. Your synths are playing, you're using guitar to back it. But there is that additional sound, probably another guitar, could be a synth. Personally, I'm not totally sure. From :37-:50, you don't use it at all. I think it's fine like that, not that you can't mix things up.
It's more how you are using it, it's sounds like it should be carrying the melody better. I guess the best way I can describe it is like you have a Steven Hawking robo-voice laugh button. You keep pressing it from 1:15-1:28 going "HA HA HA HA HA ha ha ha ha" stop and go, stop and go. But it might sound better if it carried the melody as one or two longer notes, as you go down (octaves?), like "HAAAAAAAAA" "haaaaaaaaa." Rather than breaking it up repeatedly. Yeah, again, like I can critique music well, I hope you understand that gibberish. It's just kinda choppy, not that you can't use it there, I just think it needs to carry the note longer, so that choppiness isn't as obvious to the ear. But like I've told you, I really do like that mix, so keep it up! _________________ Avatar art thanks to toberboobap, animated gif thanks to Dr. Wily II

As much as it pains me to say it, you are right. Now I have to re-record the whole thing becuase I am neurotic like that! _________________ Though some would contest the point that the words I have spoken mean naught, I choose to believe that the words I do speak will reach the souls of all those who choose to internalize their message. Hello, and welcome to "Cyril has just learned how to properly produce music and will now exploit that to make awesome songs" show.
Yeah, okay, fine, long name, but it's true.
Work It Out is my crowning acheivement. It's slickly produced and the lead can be heard! The bass is deep and the snare is powerful! Listen and enjoy! _________________ Though some would contest the point that the words I have spoken mean naught, I choose to believe that the words I do speak will reach the souls of all those who choose to internalize their message. I must say, both of these tracks are quite good. Rock with Your Navi had it odd parts, and I can tell a lot of instruments came in at different parts, but all in all, it is still very good... especially towards the end.
Work It Out is definately a track that you should be very proud of. I can't say there any mistakes in there, most likely since this is your own song.
Keep up the good work. ^_^ See, Trill is happy for you.
Um... one question. Are you still willing to do Surge of Power? |

Yes, Still willing, I've got it half-arranged on my compy. I just needed to polish up my mixing skills first, and I needed to ensure that I have all my other work done for the other projects I am doing. _________________ Though some would contest the point that the words I have spoken mean naught, I choose to believe that the words I do speak will reach the souls of all those who choose to internalize their message. Much agreed, Work It Out is a great heavy song and very powerful guitar work. Pretty catchy/memorable after just a few listen-throughs. The variation with the non-lead guitar is great; I like that part from 1:50-2:17-ish that sounds a little more like you were freestyling. Helped keep the song fresh and not too repetitive. Plus yes, production wise, everything sounds nice and crisp this time around. Another great job, Cyril.
And now that I've played most of EXE 6, I'm eager to hear your take on Surge of Power as well. It's becoming one of my fave BN boss themes. _________________ Avatar art thanks to toberboobap, animated gif thanks to Dr. Wily II

Well, for those people thinkin' I either a) can't do it or b) will never get to it, I present to you the, very very very impromptu demo of this Surge of Power!
The sounds will be different, and it will be extended (as you can imagine) the first lead will be Sax, I'll give you that hint! KICKASS!

Well, this is now the "final" version. The reason I have the quotes is becuase i am going to add more to it, and mix it better. The mixing is not *terrible* right now, but it certainly be better. I dunno if I'm sold on the one obvious part I added.
But here it is anyway! www.acelie.com/cyril/temp/surgeofdemo.mp3 _________________ Though some would contest the point that the words I have spoken mean naught, I choose to believe that the words I do speak will reach the souls of all those who choose to internalize their message. Hmm... this version is pretty good, Cyril. Now, if I had to compare, I'd honestly say Surge of Demo V1 was a little better than V2.
Here are some of my suggestion on making it better:
- omit the voice yells in the background. *scratches head* It doesn't seem to do it for me. Just do it like you did in V1.
- replace the 1st Saxophone lead with a Guitar lead.
- work on the snychronization.
- keep the guitar in the 2nd lead. I loved that! ^_^
This is just my opinion. You can ignore it if you want to. |

Alright, I'm going to echo some of Liger's concerns. I think I told you in a PM one time that screaming death metal sometimes gets on my nerves because it drowns out the actual music. While yeah, there are a lot of "Yaarrrgh!" moments even in the text before a battle in BN6, I don't know if it really helps this mix. The intensity fits, maybe you could keep it once before like a heavy freestylin' part, but I'd rather just hear the music.
That second guitar that starts out at the :25 mark is freakin' awesome. No offense, but the saxophone doesn't really do much for me...or sound too saxophonish. It kinda sounds flat or out of tune. The synth you used in the first demo sounded better in my opinion...even though they got a little odd at the end of that one...but I'd rather hear you rock out more with that guitar. It fits better, sounds natural and hardcore, and is a huge strength in your work. You carry the melody great with the two guitars, I think simpler might be better. You can get away with less of that other stuff. That's my two cents on it. _________________ Avatar art thanks to toberboobap, animated gif thanks to Dr. Wily II

Due to unforeseen circumstances any remixes that I have said I will do (that is, rock remixes) are on hold because my guitar recording gear is dead. If you are okay with a different style of remix, that's cool, just tell me!
My newest is another for Project PNT, this is for like the strongest boss you face. Guess what parts of him are! Other than that, here it is "Grespel Dragon Battle"

Aw, that's too bad. Good luck getting things back in shape.
Not a bad little diddy here. There's this little 3 second thing you do from like :50-:53 and in a few other places that really strike me as cool. Don't know how to explain it, but I like those parts and their change in tempo. Can imagine strings like violins being played there over a heavy guitar, giving it a slight change in pace. Pretty catchy tune, has it's menacing moments that make it sound like a final boss song. Good job. _________________ Avatar art thanks to toberboobap, animated gif thanks to Dr. Wily II
