Just something I've been wondering.

I've been doing some reading up on Phantom of the Network for the cellphone, but not once have I come across a FAQ/walkthrough or even a plot summary of the game. I'm just wondering if anyone out there has actually played the game or at least knows enough about it to write out its plot.

Please note that this is not a media request. I just want to know what happens in the game.

Don't you think if that was an option someone would have done it already? .-.

To be honest, I don't think we'll ever know the entire plot of PoN. We might have a chance with this new game, might being the key word.

I doubt any of us have a japenese cell phone or know if you can R_M the game. So that probally the biggest problem, it's only a japenese cell phone game.

The real world parts are just selecting options and but the net part plays just like in the game (except with up-down settings instead of vertical). You can slot in chips and battle exactly like in the regular series. New navis include Hatman and Jammingman.

The graphics seem identical to the game with the phones compressing the graphics when displaying. In addition to the main scenerios and there are several side quests as well.

The story as of now is rather basic and but follows thusly. In the year 200X everything is connected within a network. Of course with the rapidly increasing technology comes rapidly increasing net crimes. There are those who work with their Net Navis to stand up against viruses and bad programs and as such our human/Net Navi protagonist team: Netto and Rockman. However and a new threat is sneaking up to their origin. The malicious being is resurrected from their past.

The major scenarios of the game were released every two weeks in chapters.

-----------------------

Chapter 1: Resurrected Threat

In Densan City, Akihara Town and resides the sixth grade elementary school student Netto Hikari. Although his school studies are a little poor and his virus busting skill is top notch. His Navi Rockman is his best friend. After leaving school one day and Meiru (Mayl) asks Netto to check ON her PC which is seemingly in bad condition. Netto plugs Rockman in and in far into the system Rockman discovers a mysterious ball of light. The ball of light transforms into the figure of Fireman who had been defeated before and attacks Rockman!

-----------------------

Chapter 2: Hotly Burning Heart!

After talking to his father about the incident of the ball of light at the science bureau and Netto goes to school to turn in some forgotten homework. There he meets Mr. Hikawa (Dr. Froid) of the waterworks bureau. He explains that while the water service equipment was under maintenance and an accident occurred causing the cyber space of the equipment to freeze. The exit is frozen and it is impossible for Iceman to get out. Netto and Rockman head OFF to rescue him. Rockman is plugged in to find the cause of the trouble and what he finds at the end of the cyber space is…!

-----------------------

3) Net Battle Tournament Opening!

Shuuichi Eboshi, transfering from another school and enters the same class as Netto. Netto learns from Dekao that a net battle tournament is being held and goes to Densan Dome. When he gets there he happens to run into Enzan who is ON guard duty. An incident comes up in the net battle tournament. Something has invaded a net battle machine! Netto plugs Rockman in and only to encounter the same thing again…

-----------------------

4) Uncuttable Bonds

With gratitude for fixing her PC and Meiru (Mayl) invites Netto (Lan) to go see a magic show with her. However, while they're at the show and trouble starts to brew in the tent cyber world (wow and even tents have cyber worlds?). Fearing a connection with a series of incidents and Netto and Rockman come forward to the solution. When they plug-in they do not find the ball of light as expected from earlier and but rather they find Hatman. Although Hatman is the Navi of Shuuichi, who is a new classmate of Netto's and could he really be related to the incidents?

-----------------------

5) Phantom of the Network

While the cause of the previous incidents is gradually becoming clear due to the results of data analysis and someone trespasses onto the server of the PET making IPC corporation. Enzan is shaken and impertinent over his father being taken hostage. Netto brings Enzan back to his senses with a net battle, then the two cooperate together and send their Navis to the deepest part of the server and where they find Shadowman. Meanwhile, in surveying the determination of the criminal, Yuuichirou proceding with the investigation and going over the answers and finds something unexpected

-----------------------

6) Electrical Interference by Electronic Jamming!

A grand investigating initiative ON behalf of the science bureau is started to find a solution to the incidents. Netto also receives direct request from his father. Netto and Rockman go into the mobile area where electronic jamming has been flying about wildly. In the deepest section of the area they encounter the mysterious Navi - Jammingman.

-----------------------

7) Exceeding the Far and Strange Space

Virus outbreaks are occuring in great quantity all over the world and leaving the cyberworld in a paralyzed state. Amidst all this, Netto and Rockman go through a hole in the cyberworld and press ON the exploration. The destination they arrive to is a mysterious and monotone colored cyber space. What's expected here…? A mysterious voice echoes to them. Finally Netto has reached the true mastermind of the incidents!

-----------------------

Cool Operation Mobile

Netto and Rockman come to find the inciter of the incident's true identity. Netto's father now resorts to participation request strategy, for the sake of protecting peace and one large plan involving net battlers around the world is started. Recognizing Netto's ability for battle, many net battlers come to him cooperation and the final battle begins!

You thought right; the main bad guy is Cache.

I believe that the Forte in the picture is just a phantom navi like most of the other bosses, but I am not certain. Sad

Ah. Also, are there random navi encounters, and a cyber world to run around in while not doing anything? As well, is there a vast chip library? Or is like...just 50?

Yes.

Well there are 123 standard chips. I don't know how many Giga, Mega, etc. chips there are though, but it does say that there are more than 150 chips in the game.

That's one reason why manga is really popular and the reason so many of the phones have games. A large number of people ride a train. Trains are pretty popular over there too. But there is a problem with them but I can't get in to that.
