Ryuusei Episode 1 Talkback (Spoilers! :o)

Alrighty so...we start out in a space station of sorts and there's Subaru's dad. I think. They're talking about something and then "ohnoz" mode started.

Subaru's dad (as I call him) runs off to see what's goin' down. Three Dee Glasses! No wait, those are just the glasses that let them see the radio wave world. Anyway, GWAH or something and I think he dies. Or something. Subaru's all sad and looking up at the skies, glasses on! Just some aurora borealis. I think.

Next day, apparently Subaru has a tough time waking up too...XD

He sucks at making breakfast...considering that it's pretty easy to make considering the machine does it for you!

Oh wait, there are just mettaurs.

Subaru...slots in a card? And they go boom. So then he gets pancakes and they're eating, then Ding Dong! Big Hair girl! I think he hasn't gone to school or something because of his dad dying? I think..? This is a lot of guessing for me.

PS: That outfit the girl is wearing in the little explanation of Radio Wave World is so cute! ^o^

Well, looks like the series is going to go slow, rather than cram everything into one episode. Which is a good thing. Though it looks like we're going to be in for a long ride with this show.

Also, the opening is called "Heart Wave", but I couldn't read who's singing it. Any ideas?

Well, let the "what is that mysterious blurry character" rumors begin! I swear one thing before Roll in the OP is a gemini something, looks like a pair of black legs and white legs, but can't quite make out any facial features, although I assume it's animalistic. At first, I wasn't too keen on the art, but after the space station scene, it looked a little more Rockman-ish. Plus Subaru's mom reminds me of a combo of Phakachi/Haruka/Makoto.

I think my favorite new gimmick character is the Inspector Zenegata wannabe with his police light on his head. What the...?! These trancer dealies look pretty bulky and would be so annoying to lug around on your arm all the time. But by the looks of things, don't need navis to do any virus busting or anything. Sword card, hurry up, work, I want my pancakes!

I'm also super happy that Shadowman's seiyuu is doing Warrock's voice acting. Gives him an awesome gruff and powerful kind of aura. With how huge and strong he looked in the OP, it fits great so far! Slow to start for obvious reasons, but I'm still intrigued. The colorfully-trippy radio waves alone are worth the watch!

Episode 1: Toubousha War Rock
Air Date: 10-07-06
Opening: Heart Wave - Misora

Note: You can see in the opening how much this series will deal with space with the showing of the three satelites...Ice Pegasus, Fire Leo, and Green Dragon. Obviously these satelites are affiliated with the respective transformations for Rockman.

In outerspace, an orange space satelite is shown. A test of some sort is about to take place on the inside of the satelite as crew members of the satelite work at their stations. One man begins a 30 second countdown. Satelite dishes all over the collosal space satlite begin to align. As they complete their transitioning, they activate simultaneously. Inside the space satelite, one man...Hoshikawa Daigo...witnesses his success as network of Wave Roads is shown before him.

All of a sudden an alert goes off. Some unknown energy form has attacked. Within an instant, the entire satelite system has overloaded. Daigo suddenly runs off, saying that he can stop the overload. He enters another room, where the network overview of the Wave Roads display has gone haywire. Daigo puts a device on his eyes: The Visualizer. The true form of the Wave Roads are shown but they too have gone out of contorl. Daigo's eyes travels through the Wave Roads, looking for the source of the problem. He finds something...a black energy form with a beast-like appearance. Within an instant, a cosmic explosion is shown in outerspace....

Title Screen: Toubousha War Rock

Over Amerroupa. a blue horse-head shaped satelite surrounded by rings is seen: The Ice Pegasus Satelite. Elsewhere, a red lion-head shaped satelite, Fire Leo, and a green satlelite, Green Dragon, are seen orbiting the planet. Together, these three satelites allow for the existance of an invisible world around the Earth: The Denpa Sekai (Radio Wave World). Navis and programs....and viruses as well, are shown inhabiting the Denpa Sekai. People are able to connect with others as well as their surroundings using devices on their arms known as Tranzers...as shown by a policeman recieving immediate alerts of crime through his Tranzer.

Out by a dock, a lone boy, Hoshikawa Subaru, stares off into space. He pulls down a device over his eyes: A Visualizer!!! In the sky, he sees data being carried through the Radio Wave Roads. A flashback occurs. As Subaru comes home from school he sees too people: His mother, Hoshikawa Akane, and a friend and kouhai (opposite of sempai) of his father's, Mamoru Amachi. Amachi has a grim look on his face as Akane is in tears. Amachi presents Subaru with something: His father's Visualizer. Subaru is puzzled at why his mother is crying and asks her what happened to his father. He then realizes...his father has disappeared.

Later on at home, Subaru tries to microwave food for his mother and himself...only see the food begin to burn. He steps back and puts on his Visualizer. In the Denpa Sekai, Denpa Viruses, Mettools, commence an attack on the microwave. Subaru opens up his Tranzer and inserts a battle card: Sword. Immediately all three Mettools are deleted. Dinner is served.

As Subaru and his mother eat, Subaru is asked if he is feeling fine. He replies that he is. Then continue to talk about Subaru when the doorbell rings. Subaru hurries to go answer it. A voice asks if she is at the Hoshikawa residence as Subaru opens the door. It's the class president Shirogane Luna!!!

Meanwhile...in space...possibly one of Saturn's moons....a black being lets out a deep breath as he is surrounded by many other black beings. The black beings are FMs. One of the FMs calls out to the surrounded FM as War Rock, telling him that he cannot run. War Rock claims that he will not be defeated by the other FMs scoff at this until the area begins to shake. In an instant, War Rock burst into space at a high speed, much to the surprise of the other FMs. As War Rock speeds away from the moon...which is then destroyed in a great explosion. War Rock travels inwards within the solar system...noting that others will still chase him. As he travels at great speed, he comes closer and closer to Earth....

What we learned:

Apparently ALL FMs (other than Roll and War Rock) are bad guys who are coming after War Rock (whose crime is unknown). War Rock is obviously coming to Earth, where he will meet Hoshikawa Subaru and the two will merge. Also, by interracting with one of the three space satelites that make up the Denpa Sekai, War Rock can change into a new form.

Also, we have two enemies so far. Ox Fire and Cygnus(?)...

I like how the oven component was labelled "IPC."

No real complaints. The series looks intruiging, but we still don't know much more than what we gathered from all the game information. And I'm really glad they're going to take their time with this series instead of rushing through like Beast+ did. (And hopefully, the series will eventually expand to 20-minute episodes.) Other than that... the art style kinda bothers me because it's so much flatter than the EXE artwork. (Notice that there's barely any shadowing in the opening sequence's artwork.)

But here's Ryusei. I'm ready to fill up the remainder of my hard-drive.

The series NEEDS a transition to full length episodes actually. The short episode format just won't work in my opinion, seeing how Beast+ was. Oh well...

Oh yeah....about that sypnosis....apparently I have forgotten the difference between a breakfast and a dinner. Anyone (moderator/admin) wanna fix it for me? :]

I'm shocked to see that they are able to put such a good song in despite the short 10mins limit. By the way, did Warrock was saying something at the final part, was he saying something like "The Earth is calling out to me" or something like that?

I quite enjoyed the episode and absolutely love Heart Wave.

As for the episode, I thought the guy who was talking to Subaru's mum in the flashback was kind of cute; his face is like young Tadashi, round and innocent looking. Although the eyes bug me a little though, I don't like some of them (mainly Subaru and his mum) for some reason, but I can't quite put my finger on it.

Off to a good start so far. I'm glad they went for a solid introduction rather then going in to the gimmicky stuff as quickly as they can and I really liked Heart Wave.

And I agree with Miyabi there. The Zenigata guy looks like he'll be all sorts of awesome.

I'll have to admit, the animation quality seems.. lacking. At least compared to Beast +. I don't know exactly why I feel this way though.

Anyhow, I guess I'm still satisfied with the overall story of the episode, despite the some of the anime style and animation execution.

Well I returned to give this new thing a try.. I hated Beast+ with passion (I can't believe such a wonderful series had such a horrible demise.) but I'm heading into this new series with a open mind. It looks promising but this 10 min thing is killing the show. We need full time back.

Ryuusei Rockman is off to a promising start for me. I completely lost interest in Beast+, but so far I like what I am seeing in this series. I especially love the opening theme; it quickly became my favorite.

Meh, usually opening themes have to grow on me for me to like them... well... except Be Somewhere and Shouri no Uta :p But in any case... I think the art for the opening is really lacking... It's mostly just still images floating around (well except for Subaru)... which is extremely different from say... ANY other Rockman EXE opening... which I think is just bad >___> The song'll probably grow on me sometime in the future :p

The art overall is also kind of the same... but just lacking... it doesn't have that kind of detail and vibrant colours that EXE had. Especially in space it's very dark (obviously) and greyish, which I think is just too bad... Tho withouth having seen a true action scene or whatever, I'm going to reserve REAL judgement :p (the same goes for the background music).

I'll follow it anyway tho :p because the story seems kind of interesting :p I'll probably have to get used to 'rockman' 's appearance.. him being a big green monster with armor O__o;; kind of extremely deviates from Rockman.EXE's design which I truely love O__O but hey, can't keep going back to EXE forever :p

I'm quite interested in how this is going to turn out. And while I don't plan to buy the game, I'll definitely watch the anime. I like the (even more) futuristic design to everything. And Subaru's cute :3

As for War Rock... when I first heard his voice I went, "RENJI!" XD Hahahahaha. I didn't know that his seiyuu was Kentarou Itou. I also didn't know that he also did Shadowman's voice (didn't watch that far into Stream). Interesting... well, I really like the rough edge he has to his voice :D I can guess what kind of character he'll turn out to be.

All in all, an interesting start.

Well..I agree overall..no shading on the opening and the lack of good animation quality on the episode ..which made me a weird feel but ...but the opening song was great Smile

..I keep on listening on it for the 10th time >_< . Well I hope this series won't disappoint me on the plot and I want the 25 mins time slot back Sad

blame...that annoying monkey series thingie...well can't wait for the next episode ^_^

I have to admit during Beast + I fell out of the love for Rockman.EXE Anime, though I still loved the characters. :\ I decided to give Ryuusei no Rockman and the new season of Yuugiou GX a try, so let's hope that both don't disappoint. They'll be keeping me interested now that .hack//ROOTS is over :<

Anyways~!

I love the opening. The idea is interesting, War Rock looks kinda fuzzy. Only questions I have are if they'll explain the backstory of War Rock-tachi, if the animation will get a wee better, and if the girl is a Subaro love interest (ala Netto/Meiru?).

Ryuusei Rockman looks promising indeed :3
