What if P.E.T.'s actually were real?

If P.E.T.S were real, my whole would have meaning to it. The navi I would have would be Heatman, or Searchman if I couldn't have Heatman.

If I had a PET I'd get a Link PET for size and convenience, though I'd prefer a Progress PET cause it looks cooler.
Agenda once I get a custom Navi:
1. FIX MY VIRUS RIDDEN COMPUTER!!!! :grr:
2. Learn all there is to know about Netbattling.
3. Netbattle.

Well I'd used them a lot for that purpose. Fixing electronics and stuff like that.
I could fix my house's computers. And netbattling would be very fun.

The way I think of this subject is that we aren't far from having PETs anyway. Cellphones are coming out with internet capability, GPS, etc. The only thing missing is the navis, though we have no need for them. Our computer screens work fine. The question isn't what if PETs were real, more like what if all electronic devices were connected by the internet, and the internet had a more...solid form, instead of just webpages. Once we had that, we'd need navigators. So what I'm saying right now is, our PCs are netnavis and our phones are PETs.

Nice points, Guardman. But everyone seems to be forgetting about one other PET-esque device: the Nintendo DS. Hey, it has wireless features, a chat function, and a touchscreen! That's PET material right there, folks! ; )
(not to mention that with all the cellphone games out there, the DS beats them into submission)

But by "if P.E.T.s were real" they really mean, "what if the cyberworld existed", then I'll just give in my two cents.

I'd probably just keep my humble life the same as always. Of course, I would have a navi to keep me from procrastinating on my work. But as for netbattles, I can't say that I'd make a good dent in that life. I'd just follow the doctrine of "Cyber sage" Kotetsu and just work on strategy.
But mostly work and my slowing improving art. Netbattling would just be something for the dull moments.

And I see that many others have high ambitions as netbattlers. And to you, I just say, what makes you think that you can best the hidden wonders of the world?

If I had an actual PET I'd probably be paranoid I'd lose it, not only would I be losing an expensive piece of electronics I'd feel bad about losing my Navi.

well if I had a pet , I would be customizing my navi, and then do lots of netbattles ^^ and I would battle other people and be checking out the internet and see what I could find.

Another thing I'd do with my PET is program my Navi to be a master of all things mathematical. That way he can teach me how to do math. >_< And my other homework, too.

With the Technology advancements these days, it's only a matter of time! It won't be long until they invent this kind of stuff. Mobile phones are more than halfway there as mentioned earlier by a few people, and computers have the outlets to "Plug In", whether it be through the USB port or through infra-red sensors (or bluetooth, both the same really...).

Most objection to this topic I've noticed is people wondering whether we need Net Navi's at all. In my opinion, that doesn't really matter because a Navi is an AI program combined into the frame that makes up it's body. AI is going to be invented, but most scientist in the area (as far as I know, which isn't much, so don't quote me here ^^; ) believe that the AI will be in the brain of a robot. Personally, I don't mind how it happens! I'm just looking forward to the technological revolution that's right on our doorstep!!

Now back to the original question...

I suck with using technology. I blame it on my parents, who I nagged for 4 years before they finally decided to get the internet and get a new computer with more than a 3 GB drive...

Anyways, I'd probably have to pay someone else to customise my Navi. I'd love to be good friends with them and possibly netbattle occasionally. I dunno if I'd want to do it all the time. I think it'd be more fun to go to the arcade and compete with my Navi in things like DDR, car racing, etc. I'd also get them to help me sift through google when I need info for my assignments and stuff!

I'd really like to have a female Navi too, but I wouldn't mind if he was male! I'd prefer a broad choice in weapons though... what is it with everyone and swords?! XDDD *shot*

And as for other uses, it'd be to email my friends, have "Video Calls" (they don't cost money, do they? ^_^) and carry it around with me!! The only downside I can think of really, is that my Navi would be nagging me to get out of bed early... mi is not a morning person!! :D

Uhm... you're planning to make a sentient computer program to do stuff for you and that resembles a character from an a game/anime series... With all the insanely brilliant people on this earth no one has ever made a sentient program... I don't want to dampen your spirits but I do not think anyone on this forum has the capabalities to invent something like that... ESPECIALLY not alone.

On the other hand I would love to be proven wrong, but I remain sceptical. Also I don't think it's practical to have a kind of... sentient program to help you surf the net... I think that probably normal people will enter the digital realm before actual sentient programs will have been invented.

Think about it... like half of the population on Earth will have a personal Navi to do stuff... if you can just buy battle chips to get stronger we'll quite literally have a WWW on our hands. But then again you could argue that to stop other Navis from entering you computer you can just simply shut it down (not that they ever (with the exception of Pharaohman in the early episodes, only it doesn't work) do that in the series or games >__>).

I just think that it will never happen. Maybe as a toy in the far future... but it would not be possible for those toys to actually enter highly secured networks and companies would not be run by generic navis, just not logical O__o;;

But before I sound like I'm bashing this forum entry... I think, hypothetically, that if I were to have a PET I would probably try and battle friends too... but on the other hand hurting other Navi's is kind of weird... especially if they appear and react as humans. Also I would probably be trying all sorts of program advances XD

the whole synchronizing with your netNavi idea kept me busy daydreaming through boring classes. there would be so many good uses for that. i mean, a little boy could be bouncing a ball and unfortuantely for him, it bounces too high and onto a roof. he could perform cross fusion, use air shoes, and get the ball back...wait, you said synchro chip? :D got a little carried away anyways.

I'm surprised that in this topic of real PET's no one brought up the topic of Cross Fusion or Full Synchro. I think that, aside from a having your own custom Navi, Cross Fusion would be the best part of owning a PET.

Well technically speaking, it would be quite hard to get a synchro chip. In the anime, only about 7 or so people have the chips. So 7 of the people who own navis, out of the majority of people in the world...(standard navis that is,). Also you have to be in excellent sync with your navi which would lots of training.
