Sonic comes out on March 6. Mario is still TBA.
Sadly, I didn't get to reserve my Wii, so I'll just try to get it a little after launch day. _________________

Wii wiil wii wiil rock you?
I was lucky in that preorders in Australia aren't a big deal. Sadly our starting line up isn't as great either. But by the time I get back and get to play it, more interesting titles will be out or coming out soon. _________________

I think Brawl's release date hasn't been announced yet. But, I THINK Masahire Sakurai said a 2007 release date is possible _________________ (Insert sig here because Matt hasn't thought up of a real one yet. D:) |

Brawl is TBA 07. You know, Gamespot has all the known release dates. It helps to check there. _________________

Happy to say I got a Wii on reserve too, so Im very excited, got it with Zelda so Im just waiting for Midnight on Nov. 19 to snag my goodness Happy times!
Best part of all, I only had to sit outside for 1 1/2 hrs. just to snag my pre-order and I was #4 out of 12, though Im trying to decide if I should grab another game on launch or grab the Retro Controller for the download games??? Red Steel and Call of Duty 3 look really good right about now...
( Just waiting to see Madden 07 played on it and see someone pass their Wiimote across the room by accident against the TV ) lmao!~ _________________ -Follow me on Twitch.tv-

Realize that the download games will cost you per game, dependent on game and system, highest being about $10 each.
They go by points, and each point = 1 penny.
Me personally? I'll check back in a couple months and see what's available to download.
Can't emulate everything, yanno. _________________

Yeah, that'd be nice although I'm annoyed Europe STILL won't get Earthbound legally. :/ _________________

The good thing is that the Wii comes with points and you can buy more. And I have a feeling that most people will run through points pretty fast. |

So for example, you get 3 points when you buy a Wii to dowload 3 games?
Or is the point system different?
Like N64 games being 15 points, while Snes will be 3 points??? |

Yeah, there's around 30 or so that'll be available at the start, and then new ones getting released every month. And they've got a ton of companies supporting it, so there'll be a lot of variety. |

I think you get a 3 digit number amount card with the Wii. But I can't remember the points system. |

NES games will be 500 points ($5.00)
SNES games will be 800 points ($8.00)
N64 games will be 1000 points ($10.00)
As far as I know, there is not a set price for Genesis, TurboGrafx-16, Commodore 64, or MSX games yet.
Nintendo is planning to release 60 games for Virtual Consol before the end of the year. About half of those, as I recall will be Sega Genesis and TurboGrafx-16 games. Ten games are supposed to be released every month after that.
"Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has indicated that new small-scale titles could be developed and sold through the Virtual Console at a price of between JP¥500 and ¥1000 (approximately US$4-$9, GB£2-£5), and that free downloads may be offered as a bonus with the purchase of specific Wii titles, similar to Nintendo Europe's VIP 24:7 incentives."
Here's a listing of confirmed games:

You see, you will go through points pretty fast. But the idea of someone making a game then being able to have people to download it is an interesting idea. |

Yeah, it's not like they cite sources for the games listed or anything. Oh wait, they do.
And since you're clearly unable or unwilling to do any research yourself:
http://wii.ign.com/articles/732/732802p1.html
"Specifically, Nintendo Co. Ltd. announced that Virtual Console games would cost 500 yen ($5), 800 yen ($8) or 1,000 yen ($10); we're presuming these prices are for NES, SNES, and N64 games respectively."
-Taken from here.

I suppose I could keep digging up more links, but I really don't think I need to. Wikipedia, is generally quite accurate. _________________ (\ ºvº\ (\

You just don't want to use it as a reference for assignments due to it's ediatable nature. Aside from that if you're looking at something quite popular, it will be very self regulated. _________________

Well, I've never been one to buy a system at launch, so nothing until the first price cut for me. Not that the launch games are horrible, but without something extra that's worth it to entice me, I can wait a year, it's no big deal. I'm loaded with enough games I haven't played yet. But speaking of enticing, I thought I'd share this snippet of an article in my paper's VG section today.
Quote: | But Sony's PR engine is proceeding as though the PS3's production issues are nonexistent.
The company recently hosted a "Gamers' Day" in San Francisco to build the hype. Sony emphasized the PS3's online PlayStation Store, which will allow users to download arcade games, demos and bonus content for store-bought titles -- stuff that's been available on Microsoft's Xbox Live for a while now.
Sony also demonstrated its motion-detecting Sixaxis controller, showing how you would tilt and jerk the device to control a dragon in the forthcoming medieval fantasy "Lair."
And it was announced that the first 500,000 PS3 buyers will get a free Blu-ray DVD of "Talladega Nights" -- reason enough to consider buying the Nintendo Wii, which comes out two days later, instead.
-Associated Press |
I just love the little bit of sarcasm in that last line. Because you know Sony hoping to get this reaction over that announcement: Oh, yes, a Will Ferrell movie! Not to mention, it's about NASCAR! In Blu-Ray form! That speaks to my demographic! That is so worth shelling out the $600 or whatever for a PS3! MUST BE ONE OF FIRST 500,000 BUYERS NOW! FORGET ALL ABOUT WII! Riiight, that's gonna happen. _________________ Avatar art thanks to toberboobap, animated gif thanks to Dr. Wily II
