I find the name chances of the characters helpful in refering to different characters from different series.

It can also say that their personalities have changed, making them completely new characters rather than what the original names say.

Unless you're refering to the English version. Then that's okay, since it's also helpful in distinguishing between the two main characters of both Boktai and Boktai DS.
