Oh, meeps. I remember the stupid endless hallway. -_-' It took me five minutes to figure out that I wasn't going anywhere. (That be original N64 version. It's cool they kept that in the DS remake)
Erm, back to the topic... I like how JH24 gave that list of issues to deal with. I've thought about it many times myself, and I thought that a world like the one in Ryuusei (from what I've seen so far) would be better than the EXE world. Simply because navis don't hold the same level of humanization as they did before and since it seems that you can delete viruses just by slotting in a Battle Card, no navis attatched. Major problems simplified right there. Just think about it....
And if there were navis in our EXE world, then I say keep them as simple as the standard navis. Yeah, yeah, boo and hiss all you want, but since navis were originally created as nothing more than humanized support programs, then what would you expect? They're made to help humans with things like program maintenance, research, and virus control. If you want to battle, then it'll have to be with your battlechip prowess and P.A.s. Yes, the rich will always win, since they're the ones who could afford all the good chips, but that happens with every game, so deal with it.
And I do not recommend custom navi options. I can just see it now: armies of Blues, Fortes, and DarkRockman look-alikes. Don't get me wrong (I'm a DarkRockman fan myself), but there are many Chisao-esque obsessors out there you have to admit, and there would be a lot of trouble there. Keeping the norman navis would add more challenge to the mix, anyway. |

They could only imitate looks and I'm sure Forte would slaughter anyone who tried to copy him... _________________

Well...Lots of people like to make their own custom programs for themselves. You might not know it, but a LOOOOT of people use custom-made programs that suit their needs instead of mass-produced mainstream software.
Or, some people might attempt to make their own "better" version of "standard" software, and that could lead to scenarios where there are more than one type of "standard" navis. The NormNavis in BCC are an example of that.
And also, some people like to just tinker with already existing programs. I, personally, would do anything to make sure that my personal preferences are met, whether I have to pay, sue, program, or hex with a hex editor and DOS. Okay, maybe not SUE, but you get what I mean. Saying that all navis have to be the same is like saying that all entertainment media has to be DRM'd so strongly that only people like Wily could hack through it =E. _________________ Slur > j00

Well, y'know, as far as security issues go, as was pointed out earlier, many cell phones are taking on the functions a PET has been described as having. While I think that having actual a.i. for Navis is a bit far off, I can still see the concept of Navis being more or less do-able in a reasonable time frame. Of course, as far as fighting with them goes, that would probably be a separate program altogether, something that functioned essentially like the EXE games, only you could battle other people at any time. I can't really see the in-depth portions of net travel happening any time soon, so as far as dealing with all the viruses running around, we'll have to stick with our anti-virus software. Of course, given this, that would also mean that the creation of Navi's wouldn't create some hideous security-based drawback. It would essentially be a program that is limited to the cell phone/P.E.T. itself. |

I really hope navis and PETs to be invented by human beings.
If they really exist, they will bring a great convenience to us.
I will often have network battles with my schoolmates during the recess time & lunch time in school.Navis can help teacher to perform extremely high quality teachings with multimedia.
PETs can be used as cellular phones.
I will choose a navi whose body is blue in colour, such as RockmanEXE.There will be a baby navi such as Trill with him.
(Please don't mind that my English is poor.I am a Chinese) |

Now if you wanted to come to my computer to netbattle, that would be ok.
And probally fun too. |
I wouldn't hack your computer but bunnfan101 might. The truth is, I don't really know how to hack right now so i won't invade your security system and i don't want my netnavi to be deleted. But if i had one, I would netbattle you. _________________

Thank you. I'm sure a netbattle like that would be fun. That's one of the biggest/best things about Navis The net battling. |

Blast, I didn't mean for that to come out that way. I was just putting the idea out there, is all. But I see what you're saying. There will always be differences in the programs we get. There will be some, like me, who will be just fine with the standard-grade stuff. And there will be others, like you, who will do almost anything in your power to get the programs to suit your specific needs.
As far as the whole standard navi thing goes, I was actually thinking of something like in Angelic Layer, where, while you could tinker with things like weight class, the fights all basically came down to the user's own abilities, so relying on the navi's strength alone wouldn't get you too far. I'm probably reading too much into this, but that's just me...
And yes, I don't know too much about the tech stuff and what others do with it. There are probably multitudes of custom programs that me trying to figure them out would probably make my brain explode. |

You're welcome. Yes, it would be fun. i've only got 3 battle chips right now but i'll get more. Yeah, one of the best things about having a netnavi is the netbattling right? Other than that, I'd like to crossfuse and delete some viruses. _________________

If I had a PET/Navi I'd make him/her listen to my plotbunnies. I get so many, and it'd help to have someone to rant about it to.
Also, if I had a Navi it would also help in my job, since sometimes I zone out and don't pay attention to what I'm doing. He/She could tell me if I've scanned an item twice XD.
As for Internet surfing, I'd still prolly do it the old fashioned way, unless I couldn't. Then I'd send my Navi out to go look something up for me.
As for the kind of Navi I'd have, I'd prolly just have the standard Navi, since I'd be too afraid of hurting my Navi to attempt customization. I'd just get someone to customize his/her looks for me. Since I wouldn't be battling much, custom abilities wouldn't really be a big priority.
As for how likely AI is in the near future, I say it's very possible ^^ They have toy dogs playing soccer, after all. _________________ Avatar made by me in paint. Whoo

What're plotbunnies? If i was surfing. my netnavi would be doing somthing else like netbattling or looking up stuff on some other computer. It would be really cool if PETs were real and then i could send my netnavi out to bug my dad by playing the llama song in his ear, lol ^_^. _________________

Story ideas. I get lots of them, all crossovers. Sucks sometimes.
Another things that could happen if everyone had the navi is that the Navi would become a person's avatar for MMORPGs like, say, Maple Story or Runescape. That would be interesting, but it also brings up the question of wether the Navi would be the one playing or if we were controlling the Navi. _________________ Avatar made by me in paint. Whoo

I've actually thought of that with a character of mine. He works as a cameraman for the TV station in Lan's town but he likes to play video games in his spare time. And he frequently has his net navi play with him. Mostly in fighting games. In fact, his navi is designed as a famous fighting character.
So, in short, it could be both. You could play two player with your navi. |

I let my imagination run wild, and now my MP3 player has become my imaginary PET. XD
Interface is a little small, so I'm still thinking through that detail. |

i used my weirdo stopwatch thingy as a imaginary PET . I used that only because it has a red light on the end of it and i can pretend to jack in by pushing a button and pointing the red light somewhere. _________________

Yeah, i know that. i put one on my christmas list despite the amount of people that say they are peices of crap. I have no one to netbattle so i'll just blast a whole heck of a lot of viruses i guess. _________________
