Ryuusei no Rockman Ep. 13 (spoilers weighed on the scale)

It's a beautiful day to sit on a swing and perform science experiments! Today we get introduced to the brilliant Ikuta (who I can't help but laugh at thinking he's what Dr. Light would look like if he were of African decent). Definitely a fashion statement with his glass beakers always hanging around his neck. Hmmm, wonder how many he's broken due to his day-to-day activities. So, he's making smoke rings with another new character, but one that we've seen from the opening, Tsukasa.

Guess they persuade Subaru to go to class or something and we do more science back at school. Including powering a small light with lemons! This lesson on electricity is not brought to you by Bill Nye the Science Guy. What the...??!! Generic kid in Netto's clothing?! Guess there is another fashion statement in this eppy. Save the world a few times and kids in the future wanna dress like you. Later that night, Libra appears ready to fight...and to cause manhole covers to pop off and spray water outta the sewers. Unless Bubbleman is still around and happened to cause that at the same time. Smile

Libra is yet another somewhat poorly designed Pokemon wannabe, like Harp, but his Heavy Weight attack was kinda nice I guess. But design-wise, kinda disappointing again. Rockman lands a clean hit to it's arm and Libra flees. Right into the transer of the unsuspecting Ikuta of course. Guess science teachers like rummaging through trash to find empty pop bottles. Finally, we end with an awesome pose of Ikuta vowing to do something to War Rock. Can't wait to see what the Libra transformation looks like. Hopefully it'll be fittingly cool for the amusingly awesome Ikuta.

Yes, Ikuta... I cracked up the first time I saw him. And I cracked up again when I realized that Miyabi is right, he does look like a black Dr. Light.

Looks like the animators switched Tsukasa's design back to the game one. In the OP, his hair is more blondish, and his jacket/vest is maroon. Now it's back to the green hair and the purple jacket. I give a week, maybe two, before someone, somewhere, makes a Subaru x Tsukasa pairing, if there isn't one already. Girly boys usually seem to take that route in fandoms.

Finally, while it's not most likely not the case, is that boy a Hikari descendant? *bricked* To be serious though, I really wouldn't be surprised if it's revealed in a future game that the Hikaris are the ancestors of the Hoshikawas.

Libra seems to be a bit of a weirdo FM. I sorta see why he's paired up with Ikuta, since Libra is so analytical and posed his on situations like multi-choice quizzes. Razz

I'm a bit surprised to see Tsukasa here right now.

The episode is fine, but something that struck me over is the very single frame seen at the end of the viddy that NumberGirl posted. I thought Ryuusei didn't have an ending theme.... or does it? Or maybe it's just an ad?

Actually, it's just a commercial for the Ryuusei game. You can tell because the Nintendo DS logo is in the upper corner.

But getting to my two yen on the episode itself.....

I agree with X-shunin. Ikuta-sensei really does look like Pokemon's very own Professor Birch. Between him and Kizamaro looking like a geeky version of Max, there's a teeny bit of Pokemon influence in this series.

One interesting point is that Libra was a bit different from the others. All the other FMs found humans to Denpa Henkan with before going after our Rockman. (Well, except maybe for Ox and Harp, but they went after WarRock when he was alone.) This is the first time an FM has ever fought Rockman on their own without a Denpa Henkan. And he put up a decent fight before he realized he was outgunned.

And it would seem that FMs truly are descended from NetNavis, since they, too, bleed blue particles when injured.

All in all, decent ep, and it gives us something new to look forward to next week. [spoil:5b07e617d2]Libra Scale[/spoil:5b07e617d2] looks like he could be a kick-ass FM.

I wonder if after a FM finds its host, if its host is turned to its thoughts and beliefs. After all, Ikuta-sensei is suddenly talking "A or B" talk, and is making threats to WarRock, whom he didn't know existed until Libra showed up. :/
And finally, I want Subaru's TV.

Oh, yes. Some astronomical tid-bits about Libra.
-It is the only Zodiac constellation not resembling an animal.
-A large chunk of it was originally part of Scorpio: -α Librae, Zubenelgenubi ("southern claw"), -β Librae, Zubeneschamali ("northern claw"), -γ Librae, Zubenelakrab ("scorpion's claw") with Alpha and Beta making up the balance beams. Gamma and Sigma are the weighing pans.

Am I the only one who noticed that Arab Dr. Light (sorry, he looks Arab to me) suddenly started acting weird at the end of the episode?
I think he was possesed by Libra.
Proof: 1) he suddenly started using Libra's distinct "A or B" speech.
Proof: 2) He was making a threat to WarRock. Ikuta-sensei shouldn't know about WarRock, unless he's been keeping that knowledge a secret from Subaru and the rest of us.

It just struck me as odd, that's all.

I'm sorry for bumping this back up, but this is annoying me. Could anybody please give me the full title for this episode? Since the "future titles" thread ended with 12, I never fully caught this one (Although I'm now caught up on 14+ thanks to the other random threads). "Ikuta-sensei's..." is all my ears can catch.
