After holding off for 3 years, I finally picked up MMX8 since we had it 50% at BB, and after playing the first mission, it sucks. Gone are the unlimited continues and enemies dropping health tanks. You now have to BUY them. Oh, and the controls are so sluggish. _________________ Once I was Dr Kain, but I died and have been reborn as Gankutsuou. |

Well, that's your opinion, I feel it's definatly a step up from X6 and X7. And boo. It add a small bit more of a challenge.
If your so antsy about the Crystals, go do the Unlimited Cheat _________________

What do you mean by "health tanks"? Because the enemies DO drop health capsules. And unlimited continues makes any game ridiculously easy. I never found the controls sluggish in any way, myself. Perhaps your controller is malfunctioning? _________________ (\ ºvº\ (\

IMO, X8 was better than X7. Control sluggish? It works fine for me. Need crystal? Do the unlimited crystals cheat/glitch, as Elementalman suggest. Unlimited continues...never knew we had that in the X games. Did we have a certain number of lives instead? _________________

I recommend not taking the "Gamespot" method and play one stage and write a review on a game, instead actually playing more and getting in depth with it, because X8 was probally the best MMX game since X4! The control were fast paced to me and the gameplay was great, and the stage layout was nice, plus it had it's quirks that made the little boy inside you from back when you was playing Megaman on NES go crazy! especially fighting 8-Bit Cutman, hahahaha! _________________ -Follow me on Twitch.tv-

Let's see, I do the sunflower dude's level, X just walks off the cliff rather than doing a dash jump in one of those training rooms. Zero's double jump does no good because he doesn't jump high enough. And then not to forget the rediculous placement of spikes on the way to the 8th training area. Oh, and the fact that I swear my characters switch when I don't even hit R2. Lastly, let me not forget that pointless mission in Noah Park with the crabs that keeps going on and on with no end.
Where are the heart tanks? The subtanks? The armor upgrades? The lives? Having to buy retries is just dumb.
This is definitely better than X7, but not by much. At least Axel could move in that game instead of just stand there like he were in cement.
I'm glad I only paid $10 for this game, because if I had paid $40, I would have been pissed. Thank god Capcom decided to stick to 2D for the Zero and ZX series, otherwise MM would have died a few years ago. _________________ Once I was Dr Kain, but I died and have been reborn as Gankutsuou.

Well, Maybe your just a bad player. That or you, you know, your new to the game? Or like others before me have said, maybe something is defective.
How bout, you know, you try for a challenge? Optic Sunflower's level is annoying, but it was designed in mind as a training area. Beat, never go back. Simple. I already told you, if you're gonna get antsy about having to buy stuff, go do the unlimited cheat for crystals. And for the love of God, the Armour upgrades are still there, they just test you a bit more that simply walking up to them and magiclly getting Deus Ex Machina for the game. _________________

I'm not sure if we're allowed to post cheats and such, so go to Gamefaqs. And what exactly do you think an "Unlimited Crystals" Cheat would do? _________________

Well I don't see any code. I just see codes for armors and Cutman.
EDIT. I see a cheat that say to buy a Life Tank and Life Charge, but I see nothing with that name in my game. I got Life Up and Life Bottle, that is it. _________________ Once I was Dr Kain, but I died and have been reborn as Gankutsuou.

It's not a code, it's a process, go down further. It's under "Maxium Metals", I believe. _________________

Okay, so I did what it said, after getting less than 50 metals (16 left), I exited the lab, went back, but it won't let me buy the Bottle Half again like the cheats says it will. Why is my game not glitching out like it should? _________________ Once I was Dr Kain, but I died and have been reborn as Gankutsuou. |

Okay, well, I'm finally getting somewhere. I still haven't gotten the cheat to work, but I have beaten 3 Mavericks now.
I wonder if it is teh PS3 that is causing the glitch not to work... _________________ Once I was Dr Kain, but I died and have been reborn as Gankutsuou. |

Lolz, using a glitch are you? Here's a better idea for metals.
Go to trilobyte's stage with Zero and Axl in tow. Lure the mechaniloid to around where the light capsule is (there is a large rock wall in the way and there is a dynamite thingy behind it.) Double Jump with Zero to get the purple metal, and kill the digging robot (or whatever you call it)
Now stand right next to that wall and tape down/rubber band down the fire button while playing as Axl.
The mechaniloid won't be able to hit you. And you can just keep firing away. It drops fifty metals every few hits. Some of them will fall to you. Others won't. Either way, you get a lot of metals within a minutes, so just imagine turning the TV off, letting Axl fire away..and going outside or something for an hour. You'll have enough metals by then.
Another thing. Zero's double jump SEEMS to suck. But not really. You have to hit in a direction WHILE jumping for it to be used to it's best potential. Also, if you're trying to double jump so that you go up to a ledge that's jutting out from where you're clinging to a wall, you'll wanna slash so that you can stick to the wall. (I don't know why, that helps, but it makes it easy for me)
Also, I can vouch for that 'sluggishness' claim. I've found that you really have to push down the D pad to make any of the characters move. But if you push too hard, they move too far and you get hit by Gigavolt (or anyone else's attack if it requires positioning). It's hard to get used to, yes, but it's well worth it. (Or it could be that I'm using the PC version)
Another thing. I forget what I was gonna say >_<;
Oh yeah. That spike wall in optic sunflower's stage in the training room? You can push it back with a shield breaking attack, like the third slash in Zero's combo (Juuhazan, or yodantotsu too I think), a hit from the T breaker or S blade, Five shots from the A bullet, or a hit from the blast launcher, or a hit from the Plasma gun (I think it was called that), or a charge shot from X. _________________ The time is come. I personally love X8, the voices work well with the characters. Barely any of the voices upsetted me (with the exception of Pallete, I think the moment they made Alia less annoying, it released a demon and Capcom named it Pallete). The characters seemed mor proportional to the original games. I also enjoyed not having to save enough reploids before getting X. Also, the mission in Noah Park is just for score and metals. _________________ created by XHunter17, thanks! I found that the half way point is when it gets fun because that's when you finally can do the infinate metals trick. Use the walkthrough on IGN by Tim Bennington, it tells you where everything is and the requirements are to get the special armours etc. However, I've found it's easier to start with Bamboo Pandamonium and then go through his order. Axl's Blast Launcer is awsome against Optic Sunflower. Although you can leave him til later if the level pisses you off too much. If you've already beat it, congrats, isn't wonderful to be done? Hmm, I need to run through again... _________________ Fear the scarf! It's a mite peckish at the moment... |

Only level I played in X8 was the ride chaser course. Got through half of it on my first try, then could not get past it for the next ten lives. boss was easy though |

X8 is good, but I dislike the new style of stages, it's annoying. For example, the Gigabolt Man-O-War and that stupid city, in a flying rider and the Avalanche Yeti snow rider. The rest is fine. I see Capcom was completly out of ideas since MegaMan X6, unfortunately. |
