There is no "try" with this. I think Planty has had this idea for a while...
And I agree. SwallowMan's wings >>> Falzer's. By a LONG shot. x.x _________________

Ever since Beast started I've always wanted to cosplay as Gregia Rockman, but just planing it out killed me and I gave up T.T.
With this tutorial of yours you have relit my flame to cosplay as Gregia Rockman!
I won't be going to Otakon...anyway...is there much of a difference between the useage foam board and cardboard? I don't own any foam board but I DO own a hellva of alot of cardboard. _________________

Haha....everyone notices the trophies...n.n; They are not mine, but rather my parents. (Mine are in my own room XD)
Hikari Angel: I have never worked with plain cardboard in my constructions, so I wouldn't be able to give you a truthful answer. You'll just have to experiment with it and see.
Anyways, I just finished a seven day stretch of working both my jobs. Thus the lack of updates. I should be getting back to this rather soon. _________________ "Cats are interesting. Eee, this will be so cool to see at Otakon. Better get into gear for my Zero costume. I'm a little curious, any particular reason you use white glue and water instead of a flour/water/salt mix? Does it seal it or give a better finish?
Hikari Angel, if your going to do paper mache don't use cardboard unless you have to. I've learned from experiance that cardboard warps as the paper mache dries and the only way to prevent this is to seal it before hand. (I've used duck tape for this but it took a lot) _________________ Fear the scarf! It's a mite peckish at the moment... |

I've used the flour and water mix before, but I'm not nuts about the uneven finish it gives me. Not only that, but the mix smells reeaally bad after a day or so. XD With wood glue and water, I can mix a small amount at a time, and just work as I have time available. Not only that, it takes like 5 seconds to mix together.
I've also tried using newspaper instead of computer paper, but the finished result wasn't nearly as strong. Therefor, wood/water + computer paper has become my favourite paper mache-ing technique.
Oh, I hope you cosplay Zero! I'm still sad I never got any photos with Zero while I was cosplaying Ciel *sad panda* After I do Greiga, my next major cosplay plans will either be Prairie or Elpis.
I still might put together an easy cosplay of Aile for Friday of Otakon. _________________ "Cats are interesting. They're kind of like girls. When they come talk to you, it's great. When you go talk to them, it doesn't go so well." - Miyamoto

Alie might be good. Maybe you could get a picture with a Vent. And you know what might be cool? Having a couple of guardians. There's a bunch of different ones. |

i should try that when i'm going to do paper mache again. Two years ago when i went to ask the art teacher, she told me flour and water......but she hadn't told me the amount so i tried, but i ended up putting to much flour. When it dried it had glued itself on the plastic,I had to destroy it and rip it out with a knife. _________________ don't mind me.I'm quite quiet.

Wouldn't the helmet be heavy? I know because this girl went cosplaying as Edea from FFVIII, and she had her helmet made from paper mache. It was really heavy, she said, and had a sore neck. Just wondering. |

i would have to say it depends.lets take an example:for some a football helmet can be heavy while for other its light(which is true i find football helmets are light)
so it would depend on your strengh of your neck.this doesn't help when its your first time wearing it and you'll be having it for 3 whole days,I'm sure you would have to "train" your neck _________________ don't mind me.I'm quite quiet.

So far I've never had any problems with it being too heavy. Even though it looks like a lot of materials, the helmet itself is essentially hollow. If the other girl's helmet was too heavy, I wonder what kind of helmet she used for the base. _________________ "Cats are interesting. They're kind of like girls. Stupid Question: Where'd you find the police helmet? I'm still looking for ideas how to make Serenade (no, I havn't given up completely on that).
Also, those bowls gave me an idea how to do Nana's ear thingies and hair clips. Thanks! _________________ Sometimes I hear voices. Then I hang up the phone.

Looks like it's coming along really nicely. I like all your posters on the back wall too?
I don't know what she used, but the helmet looked really cool and.... paper mached....>________> |

Maq: I get them from Party City. I've seen the same ones at numerous party or costume stores, really. They're usually around $3 apiece or so. I have a ton of them stored in my closet for future projects. XD
I went shopping today and picked up all the materials to finish my helmet - Acrylic Gesso, my acrylic color paints, wood glue, etc. Should be ready to finish it rather soon. Sorry for the lack of updates, I keep getting distracted by trying to finish Tales of the Abyss. :P _________________ "Cats are interesting. They're kind of like girls. Double posting, onoes! But I can get away with it, cause I pay the bills. Hoho.
Anyways, I'm having to sidetrack from Greiga for a bit, in order to finish Aile (ZX) in time for AllCon, which is a week from Saturday. I actually started work on this outfit a couple weeks ago, and have most of the vest already done. Today, I styled my previous wig used for Haruka Hikari in order to wear for Aile instead.
If you've never styled a wig before, it actually isn't all that hard. I was reccommended to use a special hairspray that's called "Got2Be Glue Blasting Freeze Spray". I then found out you can only find it at Ulta Cosmetic stores in my area. It was about $5 for the bottle. I also picked up a cheap wig head to pin my wig too, so it'll stay put.
Aile has a pretty simple short haircut, though it's more spikey looking than normal hair. So I just used the hairspray, along with a bit of trimming along the way, to get the look I desired. This stuff is really, really strong! I've seen other cosplayers use it to make wigs from Kingdom Hearts, such as Sora or Roxas. This hairspray will seriously let you spike just about anything.
This is my second wig to style on my own. The first was my Enzan wig, which I trimmed myself, and dyed the bottom half black with a permanant marker. That stuff seriously works.

yeah i heard many comment favoring Got2be spray and hair cement(i think they're the same now that i think of it)to do wigs
looks quite simple to style hair,it looks as simple as when my dad does everything.I would really try,if only I had enough money to buy one and my parent would let me buy stuff by internet _________________ don't mind me.I'm quite quiet.

Progress on Aile is still continuing. Right now I'm working on the shoes and ankle bracelets, but I don't have any pictures of those yet. In the meantime, I restyled the wig over again, so it's a little more flippy and anime-ish. I like this version much better.
Still need to get some white shorts, as well as redo the neck thingy. I don't like the one I made. XD
