For anyone else who can read Japanese, refer to Gonta's last line. _________________ ~DrkX (Resident over-sexed camera-whore & Facebook zombie.)

Excuse me, but that¿d be like saying the Rockman EXE manga isn't a valuable source either since it had a lot of events in it that never occured or occured in a different way than it did in the anime and games, and I have yet to see people complaining of it as a 'valuable source'.
The fact some events transpire in a different fashion in the manga is almost a given, most, if not all mangas based on games tend to change the way some events occur and the way some characters behave.
Manga is considered canon within their own 'universe', and as long as it's got official, namely capcom authorized, support, it's technically canon. I'm so surprised to see people put the Ryuusei manga in so much question of its validity when I didn't see the EXE manga being hit by the 'it's not game/anime canon, therefor is not valid' brick that much and that one took liberties like there's no tomorrow. |
That's pretty much my point. You can't base something as canon for all three out of just the manga, when there are three coexisting universes. :p Sorry if I didn't make myself clear. _________________ SPOILER:

And like Plant brought up, the anime also referred to him as Ryuusei no Rockman and I'm very damn sure the Rockman calls himself that at some point in the game story as well. That's all three universes. "Ryuusei no Rockman" is an acceptable full name for the hero. Get over it. There is NO point in opposing it. We're all going to call him "Rockman" or "Megaman" anyways. _________________ ~DrkX (Resident over-sexed camera-whore & Facebook zombie.)

In the game story as far as I could remember, after saving the bunch from Ox Fire, I only read "Rockman" there (but I might be wrong, I'm still teaching myself how to read some bits of japanese TT_TT).
In the anime it was just a coincidence, he was about to say Hoshikawa and WarRock interrupted him. He only got to say "ROKKU??" and Luna added "Maaaaah" and Goyoda heard "Rockman", hence the name. I don't know if anywhere else in the anime he was called by someone of he selftitled himself "Ryuusei no Rockman". If you can tell me where that happens, I'll belive ya. _________________ SPOILER:

The bit I'm talking about is either the stand against the reborn Gemini Spark or one of the EX Denpa Ningen. I know in one of his confrontations, he is asked what he is to the humans and he replies he is their protector, Ryuusei no Rockman. Something like that.
And while you're right about how he only called himself "Rockman" in the Ox Fire scenario, (and he's surprised to find that Rockman.exe had the same name as him, which may possibly indicate that he didn't have the full title yet), I wouldn't exactly trust your reading since you couldn't read Denpa Ningen as the name for the enemy bosses. :/
Like I said, I am VERY sure that Rockman calls himself by the full title in the game story. _________________ ~DrkX (Resident over-sexed camera-whore & Facebook zombie.)

Subaru was going to answer with his real name when he was asked who he was. He began to say his last name but was interrupted by WarRock, Subaru called him in a questioning manner and was dubbed Rockman beause of it.
Later on everyone began to call him that, even WarRock. _________________ Hecha en MÉXICO - Avatar by Me.

Probably in the "style change" unleashing. Yaya, the Dragon/Pegasus/Leo forms of Rockman. It seems Capcom is going slowly with this anime, as we have only 10 episodes if compared with the 20 minutes-long of each Rockman.EXE thing.
About the "Rockman" thing, I remember of War-Rock saying something like "Let's go, Rockman!", and Subaru replies "Rockman!?" during the episode with the train ready to fall down, as being the first time the word "Rockman" is spelled.. |

Actually, he says that at the end of episode 4 as well.

One would wonder how they would dub that conversation. "Who are you?"
"I'm Mega cool- I mean-" "Megaman?"
I wonder what they're gonna dub Warrock with... Warmega? :s Probably not something with War anyway. _________________

I think "Warlock" (that'll be his name... I think. PLEASE NOT WARMEGA.) will come up with something like "People who can fuse with FMs are the Megaman" and when Subaru is asked he'll just say "I am a Megaman!". _________________ SPOILER:

A long time ago, I heard a rumor that his full name would indeed be Warrock (or Warlock, depending on who's localizing), but his nickname, (he tells Subaru to just call him Rock in the game) will be Mage. Just rearrange a few letters, and you get Mega. And from there, Megaman is not as big a stretch. _________________ ' I don't care if the buzz isn't real- I can roleplay being drunk!'

OK, so we got rock-solid proof for the manga...
I'm not doubting what you say, but would you be able to scrounge up something similar for the games and anime? (Like, a screenshot or a particular part of an episode where I could listen.) I do a lot of work for the Wikipedia articles on Ryusei and have plans to start a site, so I'd just like to know for sure whether or not he has an official full title outside of "Rockman" in all three mediums. Thanks! _________________

In other words...you want me to start my save file all over just to get a picture...my level 100 Dragon file with maxed out SP times, 900 card force gathered up, and so much more... >.>
As for the anime, Planty was the one who brought it up. _________________ ~DrkX (Resident over-sexed camera-whore & Facebook zombie.)

I'll look it up on You Tube again because I never bothered downloading Ryuusei past episode 4 XD (I watched them in You tube as they came, mind you.)
I'll do that laters as currently my dad's at home and kidnapping the computer in a regular basis through the week so that limits my amount of you-tube-ing. _________________ Hecha en MÉXICO - Avatar by Me.

Huh? Now you guys are starting to confuse me. Aren't you trying to prove his proper name is "Ryuusei no Rockman"? Isn't this episode 4 stuff just saying "Rockman" only? Even in the text you've provided and from what I hear, there's no "Ryuusei no" before it. Isn't that what the point was supposed to be? I'm confuddled.
As far as the argument over whether or not is truly is his full name, to me, it's just a description. He's Rockman, of the shooting star (or whatever translation you wanna go with). Like in biblical times it was "Jesus of Nazareth." That wasn't his full name. It was just an additional description they used during those times. As they had a Rockman on Earth in this timeline, they're just differentiating between the two. That doesn't mean it's his proper name. That's my two cents. _________________ Avatar art thanks to toberboobap, animated gif thanks to Dr. Wily II
