Ryuusei Ep. 21 (Spoilers in...the mall's funhouse?)

We now return with what you've all been waiting for: that lovely explanation scene!

Short little ball-throwing scene again, followed with an oddly sounding WarRock trying to get Subaru's attention. TITLE SCREEN!

Start out with some foreshadowing, focusing on a silver armband around Juurou's bicep. For whatever reason, there is a Hall of Mirrors inside this mall. Juurou and Miss Richy Rich decide to go for a stroll. What a perfect place for the Gemini twins to strike! They enter Juurou's mind, where Wolf is being held at bay by some glowing restraints. A little thunder can get rid of those. Finally free, Wolf Forest can control Juurou and run amock through the mall. While Miss Richy Rich is confused seeing the beast in front of her, she notices the bicep bangle still on Wolf Forest.

Transformation into Rockman means we get a fight scene; first a short battle that ends up with Rock getting slammed into a wall and the...prize?...or satelite equipment that was shown during the kids' ball throwing event gets trashed. Subaru knows he's in trouble now!

Wolverine is about to slash Rock, but Harp Note to the rescue! The Gemini twins don't take kindly to the added interference. So they move on to Plan B:

*Gemini casts Haste and Berserk on Wolf Forest.*
*Wolf Forest glows red and can no longer use magic or items, instead constantly attacking with equipped weapon*

I believe it was really the sun coming through the broken glass panel (stupid Rock, you fell for it!) that caused the red transformation, but not 100% sure. So, of course the only way to get Wolf Forest to calm down is to have Miss Richy Rich step in and call out to Juurou to get ahold of himself. Her words resonate and we go back into Juurou's mind, only this time he's the one who is being restrained. I'm sure this is a powerful bit of dialogue here between Wolf and Juurou, so I won't attempt to explain. But Juurou breaks free, forcing Wolf to flee down a wave road. The cops are on their way, so time for everyone to flee. Things are finally back to normal for Juurou and he gets a happy ending with more birds and lunch!

Kinda surprised Wolf actually fled after he lost control. Wonder how that will work if he appears in future episodes. It wasn't a bad episode, but I was hoping for more after last week. They weren't the most exciting battle sequences. Still, a cute 2 episode arc with some characters I think will grow on me as faves.

Well, in the game, while fighting Wolf Forest, whenever the moon on the field reveals itself...Wolf Forest becomes red and increases in speed. He reverts when the clouds return to hide the moon again. I guess in the anime, the sun is used to portray that instead.

I'm glad Misora didn't play so vital a role in this episode as I first suspected. Call me crazy or call me blasphemous, but I really don't like her.
Subaru gets depressed about losing the big, shiny prize, and WarRock's like: "whatever"

One thing that piqued my interest in particular were the scenes inside Juurou's mind. It makes me wonder if all Humans who share a bond with an FM are in a similar situation, where the FM inhabits not only the host's Transer, but also their host's consciousness.
This theory would support Subaru's unsettling behavior in the begining of episode 3 (wow, that's a step in the Way Back Machine), but I hesitate to accept it due to its bizarre semblance to the Soul Rooms of YGO, and how two hearts inhabit one soul. *shudder*
Still, it's an interesting concept.
All in all, I give this episode a "meh". It's alright, but not as good as earlier episodes.

In the end, the episode was pretty nice IMHO. The battle was, while there were more exciting ones in the past, well done. I like Misora although I am hoping she won't be helping Rockman in every episode. The last part of the episode makes me really wish I could understand at least some Japanese.

The only thing I didn't entirely like was the fact that Gemini didn't fight himself, instead using Wolf Forest for their goals. After seen how they took on Subaru themselves in episode 17 I found this a bit strange. What was exactly their purpose? Weakening Rockman?


In short, although not my favorite, I quite liked this episode. I only have started to wonder one thing. Why does Misora/Harp Note helps Rockman as seen for example in episode 17? Does she like him or are they after something like the Andromeda Key?

Looking back over that scene carefully, I do see now that Wolf was beginning to be affected when they started powering up the spark ball. Must have just thought he was growling for no reason when I was typing that. At first glance, though, it seemed like they purposely wanted Rock to shoot out the glass panel. Ah well, thanks for the clarification.

I'm curious as to why Gemini Spark didn't 'finish the job' so to speak when Wolf Forest was beaten. Leaving was a very irresponsible thing to do. I mean, isn't that the logical thing for a guy in his position, being Cepheus's right hand man and all, to do? Or maybe Gemini is one of those arrogant pricks who don't want to 'dirty their hands' on trash like Subaru.

On a related note, I'd wish we'd see more of the actual Gemini, and get to know his personality a bit better. All he's been doing thus far is hitting up Hikaru to do his dirty work.

The Rockman anime seems to love throwing in random bits of English: mirror, stage, power up... now chance.

Juurou's ojousama's name is Kimeka. And I'm still finding it hard to believe that that growling, snarling voice is coming out Yuuichero's seiyuu.

So we still don't know whats behind Harp's sudden change of heart. I wish they would talk for a bit already. Although this is the first time they've actually fought side by side so I guess that's a step toward that.

For all the people hoping to see Harp Note being helpless against Wolf Forest and then getting saved by hero-of-the-day Rockman, HAH to all of you. :D

I like Harp Note so far, rather than the common Roll-like character that's always being saved by Rockman, she's rather always showing up to lend a hand when Rockman's getting his a$$ handed. But I agree, they need to show a little more indepth to Misora-Subaru, seeing how Subaru figured out who Harp Note is, but Misora is quite unclear if she knows who Rockman really is... and to explain the real reasons why Harp changed her heart and is now helping out.

I have one minor complaint so far though, but I'm sure it'll change with time. In the other EXE series, we had the Rockman hero and all his friends, here Rockman is... quite lonesome. He's got Harp Note to fight with him, sure, but that's all, and the FMs that in the game stand neutral, are all turned into enemies. Hopefully that'll somehow change in the future. Then again, it must be Subaru's "antisocial" character that's yet to grow, and also resulting in a very lonesome Rockman... at least so far.

Nice episode. Good fight, good team up, and cute ending. I'll have to check and see what's next week.
