First I'd like to say that I'm NOT a troll, I'm genuinely interested in the Rockman/Megaman game. I was just completely unprepared to accept that there were other games made since the 80s, or that they went by other names. (I'm not real avid on international business.)
So I did a little more investigation, and I would like your opinions. I own a DS, GameCube and PS2, as well as a fairly nice computer, so I'm looking to buy a good starter game. It needs to have good graphics but also have great dialogue and an interesting plot. A lot of action is nice (bloody, Kill Bill-esque if possible) but it also needs a lot of Chibi-ness because I share all these things with my girlfriend, and all she's really in to is Hamtaro. In addition to cuteness and interesting action, it also needs interesting dialogue, but at the same time I don't want to read five-page Xanga entries for each character. The plot needs to be complex and interesting, but also needs to wrap up at the end but not be an anti-climax (half-life single player, anyone?). Compatibility is also an issue - will this game work on my existing hardware, or do I need some sort of modification? Graphics are important, especially if it's on the computer, I want it to take advantage of my high-end video card and loads of RAM. Finally, price: I don't want to spend any more than, let's say, $20.
So with this in mind, what's the way to go? EXE and Zero look good; but so does DASH and X. Vanilla Rockman might be the way to go too, since I'm already somewhat familiar with the C64 games.
Also I'd prefer an English version, but not if it has vital elements of the plot removed. I'd hate to think I was missing something just because the translators didn't think we'd "get" it! |

Sorry, but it really sounded like you were just trying to get flames.
Rockman Zero / Megaman Zero for the GBA. The gameplay is mostly straightforward, fast-paced, and challenging. If you care about the story, get the English version (Megaman Zero). If you want to spill blood, get the Japanese version (Rockman Zero).
With the exception of Rockman X8 (it's new, and thus expensive) and the first handful of Rockman X games (hard to come by nowadays and they're on the SNES), the other games have some pretty big flaws that would take a fan of the series to brush aside. The original series is pretty good too, but I don't care for its story and the feel of its gameplay.
The Zero series stays pretty good sequel after sequel, but the original should be really cheap by now, and it explains a lot about the story, so I'd go with that. |

Id say the original Zero or X3 if you can dig up the PSX version becsue the X series was sort of the base for the Zero series and has some of the best action gameplay in the series. Also X4 lets you play as Zero but starts the Chain of Sloppy Sequels that goes through X7 _________________ You're an honest man, that's good. Zero- Zero is a pretty good game, I personally, don't like it, but hey. It's is rather hard. It's game play is pretty good, as well as the plot.
X: X1-3 are the best, but there is a very small chance that you'll be able to get, as well as play them before Capcom comes out with the X Collection. X8 is also pretty good, minus the 4 autoscrolling stage (But that's about the only thing). Most of them you can get for PSX, but If you want them I’d wait for the X Collection. For gameplay, I'd say go here
DASH: These games are truly unique. Although I can't find a copy of DASH two (Stupid foot). They are in 3-D, but they are by far the farthest from the original series. I like these, they introduce a new game style to MegaMan, and well, there fun. For fun I'd go here

I'd probably recommend Zero or Battle Network. X is a great series but the first few games a rare nowadays. _________________ One of the three EXE sisters! *Armstrong-style pose*

dudes? Zero series is not really a good thing to start with, I think, personally tho, I'd say Classic MM2, USA version, normal for newbies ^^
and the fact that I started with it, 15 years ago ^^
also, you could try X1, it's easy ^^ _________________ -'MOTTO CHIKARAWO~!!-

You do own a PS2, which is backwards compatible with PSX. You should DEFINITELY get Legends! It was the first Megaman game I ever owned(I had rented games like X fo SNES) and it got me really into Megaman. It has a really good story. It is 3D, has slightly repetetive bgmusic, but nontheless is good. There's a fun load of upgrades, can get really intense at times and has one of the best battle systems that I've ever played. It's easy to start off with and pick up because you're thrown into it. Even though the beginning is slightly tedious with the controls, it helps you to become a master of stafeing. It gets challenging toward the end, but only makes the victory more sweet. The final boss is one of the coolest I've ever seen. Plus, it has the cutest little chibi robot you'll ever see, his name is Data and he's a little robot monkey, he also quite useful as a save point! Above all else, you can pick up a used copy from like EB Games for around 12 bucks! If you like it enough, they made a sequal that you can get for between 15-20 bucks too! Convincing enough? _________________ Go here or someone you know and love will... uh... stub a toe!

I don't know what Megaman games are easy/for newbies, but I know for sure don't start your Megaman gaming with the very first Megaman game. It's hard.
Good graphics? The NES Megaman games have good graphics, at least for their time. Don't be expecting 16 or 32 bit graphics in those games. _________________ War may not be the right answer, but when you're in one, ending it effectively and with positive results is a must. My first battle network game was 3 and it was a good experience for not knowing the battle network series that well. If you want a battle network, go for 3, for a zero game go the the 1st. _________________

If you're looking for a challenging game, that cute, and has moments of Chibi, and has lots and lots of action packed into a tiny chewy delicious chocolate ball, I'd have to recommend Legends (DASH) or Legends 2 (DASH 2)
Watching The Bonnes comes back for more time after time just never gets old.
Teisel and Bon make me laugh. And some of the things that happen to Tronne are just hilarious. _________________ (Warning: Reading these suggestions may lead to anger, cramps, burning pain of the hand, and the Urge to severely injure submitting author.
