First time opening a discussion of an episode so pardon me if I make any mistake.
The episode start with a recap of last week that Crown Thunder cause the entire theme part to rise on a ship. Crown Thunder attack Rockman and he dodge while carrying Luna to a nearby horse ride for shelter. Rockman started with a Gattling gun to shoot Crown Thunder.
At first it seems like he is in pain, however, the ground start to glow and the attack seems to have no effect! Rockman then switch to Breaksabre (new Battlecard Predation footage?) and slash Crown Thunder. The sword mark on Crown Thunder fade away after the attack.
Crown Thunder then start laughing and said that when he Denpa Henkan with a dead human Jean (I forgot the full name), he is invincible. Luna heard that and find the name Jean familar and she seems to know about it on TV the day before. She check her transer and we get to see the story about Jean.
Seems like Jean boarded a ship and was caught in a thunderstorm and died.
When Rockman heard that, he realise the truth about Crown Thunder and War Rock say he is really like a ghost!
If I'm not wrong, Crown Thunder then explain that the ship they are on, the ship which Jean caught a thunderstorm and died in.
As Rockman and Luna get some disgusted expression, Luna started to get seasick!
Gemini Spark then appear in the engine room and decide to make the battle "more interesting" by blasting a Gemini Thunder at the engine which cause the ship to go out of control.
As Crown Thunder and Rockman felt the ship going in U-turn direction, Gemini Spark spoke to Rockman in a loud speaker. He said that they cause the engine to go berserk and the place the ship is heading to is the Kodama Town's Energy Plant. Rockman then imagine what happen if the ship would to crash there. Gemini Spark answered that he's right, the whole Kodama Town would be in a sea of flames. To stop the ship, Rockman must defeat Crown Thunder. Gemini Spark then laugh off and disappear.
Crown Thunder then exclaim what Rockman is hesitating and then started to machines of the theme park to move. Luna on the horse ride became dizzy (take about a lousy place for a shelter).
Crown Thunder then ride the roller coaster and attack Rockman with a Drill Ghost and a Hammer Ghost.
Rockman then use the Flash Cannon Battlecard but he was unable to hit Crown Thunder who was fooling around by jumping from his seat in the roller coaster. And we see more dizzy Luna complaining.
Finally while Crown Thunder is hopping in the roller coaster, his ride got blasted by Rockman. While Crown Thunder was "flying" away, Rockman use a Fire Volcano (not sure what is the correct name) Battlecard and shoot Crown Thunder right into his heart area. Ouch...
He then realise the ground is glowing. Crown Thunder recover and said its no use. Rockman wonders how he could defeat him and then realise he is in a bad situation as the ship is very close to the Energy Plant. At the same time, he got whack by the Drill Ghost and the Hammer Ghost. (Never turn your back during a battle? )
Crown Thunder then exclaimed that its the end and blast Rockman with a neverending electrical beam. He then tell Rockman to become a ghost too.
Meanwhile a voice telling Crown Thunder to shut up. We then see Harp Note exclaiming she arrive and blast Crown Thunder with her usual Shock Note. Crown Thunder dodge and the attack went right into the ground and the ground started glowing again.
Rockman then thanks Harp Note and ask why she is here. She replied she was taking a scroll and then felt the disturbance and came to kick some butt. (Or something like that)
Meanwhile, War Rock observed that Crown Thunder is acting strange. As Crown Thunder is feeling pain, his body started to crack. Harp Note then saw the ground glowing and heard weird sound coming from it. She exclaim that the ground seems to be feeling pain from her attack.
Rockman then think about what she said as he recall about what Crown Thunder said previously (Not sure what he said). Then he discover the secret of Crown Thunder's immortality.
This part I'm not sure but I'm thinking what Rockman said is that Crown Thunder is alright because Jean's is alright, if they attack Jean's grave, Crown Thunder will suffer from it. Subaru then use the Freeze Nuckle Battlecard to punch the ground as Crown Thunder crack even more.
Even when Harp Note don't quite understand, she follow the suit and attack the ground using her Machinegun String. The suffering voice from the ground became louder and Crown Thunder's body crack even more. Rockman then finish him off using a Jet Attack card.
The skull of Jean then fly off into the sea and the ship came to a stop just a few meter before touching the Energy Plant. After that you see Jean's skull exclaiming it doesn't want to go back to the sea while its rapidly sinking...
War Rock then mention about what a guy Crown was, Denpa Henkan-ing with a dead person. While Rockman wonder where Harp Note went, he say a completely dizzy Luna still on that horseride as he sweat about it.
The next day, we see Luna with her "panda" eyes. Subaru then talk to Tsukasa about what happen and mention that its great everyone is fine. As Tsukasa said "Is that so?", you can tell he is not quite pleased.
Gizamaro then mention that its a great report about their adventure and Gonta add on to that. Luna then mention that when she think about that, she can't help but to feel sick.
After that the scene change to the seabed, where Jean's skull is lying right next to his treasure while he continue complaining not wanting to return to the sea...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nice episode and I like those funny moments where Luna get herself dizzy. One question I have in mind though... What happen to Crown? Jean returned back to the sea, but we never get to see Crown. I wonder if he was deleted during the Jet Attack strike... curious... very curious.... |

Wow! Just wow. That sums up how beautiful this episode was. Everything flowed so well. We need more Adachi episodes!!! Even Crown Thunder seemed so much cooler now compared to the previous episode. Loved the little fit he threw as he was surfing on the rollercoaster. With all those great scenes, this has to be one of my favorites so far. _________________ Avatar art thanks to toberboobap, animated gif thanks to Dr. Wily II

Crown Thunder's attacks are Ikaku Bowgun, Hajou Hammer, and Totsugeki Lance. (along with ForeThunder/FallThunder...not sure how to romanize it but both are technically correct names.)
Rockman's battle cards were Gatling, Break Sabre, Plus Cannon, Fire Bazooka, Freeze Knuckle, and Jet Attack... _________________ ~DrkX (Resident over-sexed camera-whore & Facebook zombie.)

I loved that episode. It was really funny when Luna was seasick and to help her even more the mari-go-round turned on.
Well that summary was helpful I was wondering why the ground was glowing.
Also a little off topic but what constellation is Crown based off of? _________________ When all else fails hit it with a HAMMER!!!!! |

Ether the Northern Crown or the Southern Crown, we don't know.
Loved the episode, as stated many times, Shingo Adachi has the greatest episodes, ever~
Crown Thunder has no attack like that with the giant beam of electricity, so don't worry. XD _________________

Isn't it Plasma Cannon DrkX, not Plus?
Like Sketch I loved the episode too, Shingo should be allowed to animate the rest of the series and make it pretty. I'm suprised that the script didn't use Harp Note's entrance to build up tensions between Luna and her, in preparation for next week's episode. _________________

No, that's Plus Cannon, the upgraded version of Cannon. The final version is Heavy Cannon.
You're thinking of the Plasma Gun series. _________________ ~DrkX (Resident over-sexed camera-whore & Facebook zombie.)

Stream Fever, thank you for your very detailed summary. It really helped me to understand this episode better.
Sigh, I am sorry to be the oddball in this but this episode is for me personally one of the biggest disappointments in the series so far.
I have watched it several times, and I really tried to like it. The flow in this episode just seemed wrong to me.
I didn't found the battle exciting at all. Most of the scenes were Rockman using a battlecard and attack. There was very little movement in the battle at all. I also didn't like the repeat of the same scenes. The battle just felt underwhelming. I realize Crown Thunder was very weak and would have been defeated without the 'immortality' but still...
Gemini's role was limited as well. What does he want? The Andromeda Key or just causing as much destruction as possible? I really hope they won't give him such a small role in each episode. IMHO that would be a waste of his character in the story. I could live with his role in episode 20/21 but not in this.
If the ship would have crashed in the Kodama Energy Plant wouldn't Crown Thunder loose his base with the healing powers so to speak? Why didn't he worry about that instead of wasting all this time with Rockman?
Nice to see Harp Note again, and once again saving Rockman. That would already be third time so far. Well, it is definitely a change from the other way around.
The animation, maybe I am crazy but I just couldn't like the animation except for a few well-drawn parts. It just looked strange, but I guess it all comes down to personal tastes. Or maybe I had just set my expectations too high.
I never came across an episode I disliked as much as this one. But you can't like them all I guess. I hope the next one on march. 31th will be better. In the meantime I think I should take a look at the subbed episodes of Ryusei. There is still a lot of the series I don't understand. _________________ This great avatar is made by Synchro-kun. Well, JH24 the thing I like about Shingo's animations is the way they seem to flow together. Lots of other episodes, such as many of Stream's simply had Rockman standing and simply shooting his chip/card. With Shingo they at least seem to move about in my opinion making the fight seem more alive.
Of course, that's simply my personal taste. _________________

Nenji, I understand what you mean and it was not my intention to imply that the art or animation of Shingo looks bad. On the contrary, I do appreciate the detail and the work he/she has put into it as it clearly shows. I do feel that Shingo's work looks really professional, but maybe I have to get used to the style.
Or maybe I am just crazy.
I did mention there were a few well-drawn scenes I liked. After seeing episode 17 with the battle against Gemini I guess I started to compare that fight scene with every other battle in the series. And in contrast to that one this episode's battle seemed less active. I really shouldn't make this comparison but I seem to do that automatically as I personally really liked that episode and the animation style it was drawn in.
I'll watch episode 23 again later today and I especially look at the animation this time. Maybe my initial negative reaction was premature or maybe I was too heavily influenced by my opinion on the episode itself. _________________ This great avatar is made by Synchro-kun. Thank you! |

Oh I wasn't trying to belittle your opinion. I just thought that describing what I liked about the animation would contribute to the discussion. _________________

Gemini Spark is acting much like Shadowman did for a majority of EXE's second Area; manipulating other characters to do his biddings (like the Cutman Brothers), or even like Slur. They'll have their big bad-ass moments later, but right now, the writers want to show off other characters. Besides, we had a three-part Gemini Spark arc already. Let them rest some. _________________

I love Shingo Adachi's animations! It's so lively and colorful and fluid and...pretty! XD
This episode was exactly what I was expecting from Crown Thunder, being fused to a ghost and all. I must admit, I never expected the ship to be the source of his immortality though. Though, in retrospect, it seems to make sense.
As for Gemini Spark's random appearance in the ship's engine room, I think that those two want BOTH the Andromeda Key and to cause as much mayhem and destruction as possible. Mayhem and destruction are always fun.
My only question: what was that building the ship was heading to, what was it for, and why was it so important to make NOT go boom? All I understood was that it had something to do with the Denpa... _________________

But is there no special reason why they are so destructive? Do they just do this because they think it's fun? I am thinking too much of it, I am afraid.
As for the building, judging by the summary at the start of this topic was some kind of energy plant, I don't know what it is for but the consequences would have been disastrous if the ship had collided with the structure. There was a short scene with fire and a large explosion if it would happen. _________________ This great avatar is made by Synchro-kun. Thank you! |

I can only assume they think it's amusing to see those feeble Humans scramble for their lives as their cities collapse around them. At least Gemini Spark B may think that way. Gemini Spark W (Tsukasa) may be doing it for revenge against the Humans who rejected him. Or he could just be doing it for fun too. Who knows?

Shingo Adachi is the art director for this episode, plus episodes 11 and 18. Harp Note's second episode and Cancer Bubble's episode respectively. _________________

So he fused with a dead guy? Reminds me of that skeleton on one piece. So he's similar to this in the game right? I need to look this up. |

It was the Denpa generator energy plant that Gemini Spark was targetting. If they take it out, all of Kodama Town loses its source of communication and energy. It's like a hostage situation...only the whole town is at ransom. Either Subaru and Rock must surrender and Rock must give up the key, or they will be defeated by the seemlingly invincible Crown Thunder AND Kodama Town will be entirely screwed... _________________ ~DrkX (Resident over-sexed camera-whore & Facebook zombie.)

I had a different thought. I think by causing the chaos, Rockman will be unlikely to flee... >.> Or else you see more War Rock getting Subaru to hide himself again... |
