While watching a favorite anime or playing a favorite game,do you often pause and think about who does the voicing behind the character? If so,is it good, bad,or just plain ear bleeding?

Just asking out of curiosity,as I'm a sucker for good voicing in these.

Well, in general, I consider the Bandai/Sunrise/whatever they wanna call themselves anymore group to be the higher quality group of VA's. My favorite male VA is easily Steve Blum, aka David Lucas. He just has this smooth, cooler than you voice that works well for male leads or villains. Granted, you often don't hear him stretch doing really different types of voices...well, his role in Final Fantasy 12 was different. When it comes to my favorite anime series, he's usually in it. Plus he's been doing more and more games as well. I'd say he's the big star of this generation right now with all he does, behind the scenes as well. (Hey, he handled some of Axess I believe, and that's when the script quality got better!)

Fave female VA is a little tougher. I always liked Wendee Lee paired up with Steve. She's got a very sultry voice that can sound so cute at times. But Kari Wahlgren's probably up there too.

Other random VA's I remember liking (not necessarily anime only) are Kirby Morrow, Scott McNeil, Crispin Freeman, Michelle Ruff, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, Meredith McCoy, Lia Sargent, Maurice LaMarche, Hank Azaria, John DiMaggio and Patrick Warburton. I can probably pick out their voices a mile away...and yes, I often do that, trying to pick out who's voicing who, without checking credits.

My favorites would be Scott McNeil, Monica Rial, Crisin Freeman, Steve Blum & Vic Mignogna, just either I met them in person and they were really great, or I think they are the best VA in any role I see them in.

Oh yeah and Yuri Lowenthal, just because when I met him, the first thing he pointed out that "Megaman is Awesome, Love the shirt" (me wearing my 8-Bit I beat the Robot Masters shirt" YAY! (stops his stupid ramblings)

I really like Vic Mignogna, Aaron Dismuke, Mike McFarland, SCOTT MCNEIL!!! *fangirl drool moment* Stephanie Nadolny, Brad Swaile, Sonny Strait, Colleen Clinkenbeard, Crispin Freeman, Chris Sabat, Travis Willingham, Jerry Jewell and Eric Vale; to name just a few... ^^;

And out of everyone here, I've only met Mike McFarland. He was pretty cool, and very out there!! I met him last year at Supanova Brisbane. He had no issues with having his voice recorded onto mobile phones using his Master Roshi voice. You can imagine what they were like...

I really like the Q&A session though, cos not many people knew it was on and I got alot of questions answered. He kept calling me "The girl in the Fruits Basket Hat" which was both funny and irritating at the same time (I was wearing my Kyou Neko beanie Smile ). Afterwards I got him to sign my copy of FMA Vol 1, although he also added a couple of comments that might be considered vandalism by most. Confused

Here are my favorite voice actors along with a brief list of some of the characters they've voiced in case you don't know who they are.

Scott McNeil (Actually, I don't think I even need a list for Scott's roles)
Richard Ian Cox (InuYasha, Burnerman from Rockman.EXE)
Reece Thompson (Tohru Hikawa from Rockman.EXE, Vino Dupre from Gundam Seed Destiny)
Kirby Morrow (Elecman from Rockman.EXE, Miroku from InuYasha)
Paul Dobson (Naraku from InuYasha, Touya Meijin from Hikaru no Go)
Brian Dobson (Searchman from Rockman.EXE, Red Alert from Transformers: Cybertron)
Michael Dobson (Magnetman from Rockman.EXE, Nappa from DBZ)
Vic Micnogna (Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist)

I'll also mention that I've actually met the following voice actors:
Kirby Morrow
Brian Dobson
Michael Dobson

Heh, I didn't even know there were so many Dobsons out there. Are they related? Anyways, a few of my favorite VA currently are:

Vic Micnogna (Ed, from FMA)
Johnny Yong Bosch (Renton in Eureka 7, Ichigo in Bleach, Vash in Trigun)
Patrick Warburton (The Tick~?)
Linda Chambers-Young (Genkai in Yu Yu Hakusho, Freeza in Dragonball Z)
Scott McNeil (Rath in Mummies Alive!, Piccolo in the first dub of Dragonball Z)
Justin Ryan Cook (Yusuke in Yu Yu Hakusho, Super Buu and Dende in Dragonball Z)

I just love how voice actors do so many different roles, and how it's almost funny to picture them doing voices of different characters while in another character. Genkai as Freeza, for example!

Kumiko Watanabe. She voices my favorite character of all media: Klonoa. She also voices characters such as Shippou from InuYasha, Keroro and Geroro from Keroro Gunsou, and Hideki from Hikaru no Go. She also sings, considering she's the one who sings the main theme song from "Klonoa Heroes" (A Japanese video game), titled "Sign of Hero."

EDIT: Sorry, please ignore my custom title. I don;t know what happened. >_<

Eric Bergman. He acted out Dias' voice in Star Ocean: The 2nd Story, for the PS1. If I had a voice like that, I'm sure nobody would want to mess with me.

Hmm... I'd have to say that my top five would be:

1. Steve Blum / David Lucas (Spike, Saburo/Hakaider, and Sun Jian are some of his roles that are my favorites.)
2. Scott McNeil (Proto Man, GutsMan.EXE and Principal Kunou)
3. Donna Burke (Raising Heart/Raising Heart Excelion in the Japanese Version of Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha)
4. Ryan Drummond (The once and only true English voice of Sonic the Hedgehog)
5. Lex Lang (Crim, Zagato, Lantis, and Sanosuke Sagara)

Well, my favorite voice actor is Frank Welker, who voiced Soundwave in Transformers G1, I also really liked Chris Latta's voice work as Starscream in that same series. Kumiko Watanabe is also a favorite for the only fact that she voices my favorite video game character, Klonoa, and as ChibiForte said, she has a great number of anime voice roles.

I got to meet Dan Green, the voice of Yugi/Yami Yugi from Yu-Gi-Oh! at Supanova last weekend!! He was a really nice guy, although I think he was a little overwhelmed at how Obsessed some of the Fangirls were.... I got his autograph!! ^_^

I also saw Yuri Lowenthal and Tara Platt, but their line was HUGE, so I kept thinking to myself, "I'll come back later" but left it too late, cos when I came back, they had already gone... Sad

His name is Reece Thompson. He hasn't done a lot of voice acting (and his live action appearances are about as common as his voice), but he's one of my favorite actors. Not only was he so talented at such a young age, but also he's one of the lesser known child actors. These days he's apparently making videos with his friends and putting them up online.

And on a side note, I found out a few months ago that Andrew Francis (Rockman's English VA) and I are the same age (we're both 21). If you really want to nitpick, he's actually a few months older than me.

Here's a couple ones that i find good

-Vic Micnogna (Ed Elric in FMA)
- Jessica Boone (Yuna in Maburaho)
- Andrew Francis (MegaMan in the dub)
- Scot McNeil

There's a lot more that i think are good actors but i can't remeber their names and there are a lot of different roles that they play. I know that the dub actor for Yai Ayano also plays Milfeulle Sakuraba in Galaxy Angel. It's evident that a lot of the actors are reused in different animes as they advance in their carreer.
