|
|
My deepest thanks to Numbergirl for sharing the Ryusei episodes with all the fans.
==========
Well, let me first start by saying that this episode was for me personally the best one I've ever seen of this series so far. It is a long time ago that an ending of an episode left me so excited and on the edge of my seat as this one. It was also quite dark for a Ryusei episode
Second, any weird doubts I had earlier about the art style of Shingo Adachi are completely gone. This has got to be one of the most amazingly animated episodes of the Ryusei series so far. I read in the other Ryusei topic about future episodes that Shingo Adachi has done the next episode as well, which in itself alone (besides the interesting plot that started in this one) is reason enough for me now to look forward to that one.
This episode has restored my faith in the Ryusei series a bit.
----
The episode starts with a man walking through the streets, every electronical device he passes by starts to act strange but only temporarily. He has a strange smile on his face. It is Utagai, he's back.
We then get a short view of Tsukasa, who sits (and he seems to relax) on a bench in the park with a milkshake in his hands. He says something and Gemini replies. (Is it me or does his voice sound a lot like Warrock, I guess it is probably just me)
Then we get a short scene of Utagai standing before the company he used to work. He takes of his hat and an evil smile appears. This can't be good.
In the next scene we see Luna, Gonta and Kizamoro (did I spell it right?) talking about 'Rockman-sama'. Luna then walks up to Subaru who is close by and Subaru seems to get defensive (he almost looks afraid that Luna suspects him of being Rockman) I don't understand what Luna is saying but I think she says that Subaru would probably be the last person who could possibly be Rockman.
Subaru recieves a call by Amakan who tells him that Utagai has returned, he is pretty happy about it. Subaru is happy as well until Warrock reminds him that Utagai is most likely still under control of Cygnus. He then starts to run as fast as he can towards the company where Amakan is fearing the worst.
In the next scene we see Amakan and Utagai having a conversation within the office. The lightning is well done IMHO and you can just feel that something will go wrong. Utagai's expressions are very well done and he actually looks scary. During the conversation Utagai shows Amakan a device, I don't know what it is though. Also, he also changes his left arm in radio wave form for a moment and I think he is now threatening Amakan. Amakan flees and manages to set of the alarm. Security quickly arrives but Utagai grabs Amakan, breaks through the window and escapes. Subaru arrives as well but he is too late.
In the next scene Utagai, who is completely invisible except for the hand holding Amakan, flies high above the city. They then land above a high tower, after a brief conversation (I am not sure if Utagai wants Amakan dead for revenge or because he wants to lure Rockman or maybe both) He releases Amakan from his hand and the guy is then falling towards the ground. Luckily he is saved in time by Rockman who puts him safely onto the ground.
Utagai (who has now transformed himself into Cygnus Wing) lands on the ground besides them, and he looks definitely ready for a fight.
I could describe the following battle scene but I feel that no matter how many words I use to write down the action it just won't do the scenes any justice. (Or maybe it is just me being lazy ^^)
There is a lot of movement and action, no still shots at all.
During this fight we see Tsukasa sitting on a Wave Road apparenty enjoying the scenes before him. (Strange, I thought a human couldn't sit or walk on a Wave Road unless he/she was transformed)
In the last part of the episode Rockman prepares to shoot at Cygnus only to find out that he has transformed back into Utagai.
The next conversation is very important and in this case I felt pretty annoyed with myself about my lack of Japanese but I feel that Utagai was sowing doubt within Subaru's heart by telling him some things he knows about Warrock. It also started to rain giving this scene the appropriate setting, convenient. ^^ (Maybe him being a traitor, or that Warrock is keeping some things hidden from Subaru) Warrock presumably asks Subaru not to listen to him and to fire but Subaru just can't bring himself to do this.
Whatever Utagai/Cygnus is saying it seems to work as Subaru becomes very unsure after what he heard. Then it happens, Subaru apparently is so shaken of what he just heard that for a moment the Denpa Henkan with Warrock fails as we can see Subaru's normal outfit underneath it. This moment of weakness is all that Cygnus needs. He attacks immediately and knocks Rockman from the Wave Road.
Whatever Utagai told him, the boy seems entirely demoralized and falls into a river. From there we can see how the current of the river is taking Subaru (who now is in his normal form) away, he is unconsciousness and could probably drown if he doesn't wake up soon. Warrock desperately tries to awake the kid.
Cygnus Wing is looking down from the Wave Road quite pleased.
And with this exciting cliffhanger, the episode ends.
-----
This episode has become my newest favorite by far.
Normally I only watch LQ versions but this time I definitely try to find a HQ version, even if only for the battle. _________________ This great avatar is made by Synchro-kun. Thank you! |

That was indeed one of the best fighting since Judgeman! :D
As far as I can tell Utagai is saying that Warrock attacked the space station and killed Subaru's dad. Warrock isn't even really denying it Oo He's only saying not to listen to him. But I'm not 100% of all of that XD just pretty sure.
In any case, damn that was great :p and indeed very dark. By the way if you think about it... we've only got as much screentime as the first 13 episodes of Rockman EXE Oo and we've already progressed quite a bit in the story. I think this season is over at 52, but yeah I dunno of course :p _________________

It seems like we are finally getting into the exciting part of the storyline.
Cygnus Wing (in Utagai's body) has revealed to Amachi about Rockman's identity of being Subaru... Now, we learned that it was WarRock that killed Subaru's father by attempting to Denpa Henkan with him.
Not being able to take the shock, Subaru become stunned and losing the Denpa Henkan when blinking and forth between human and Rockman form.
I seriously wonder what will happen to Subaru after he drown..
I believe this will be a great test between Subaru and WarRock which will then truely bond the trust between them. WarRock do not quite trust Subaru by not telling him about the Andromeda key and etc... I think once the bond strengthen, Rockman should somehow catch the attention of the Star Force guardians and transform into his 3 new forms.
Side note, I wonder how Tsukasa sit on the wave road while watching the fight without Denpa Henkan... and SITTING? Can you sit on a waveroad? >.> |

What really makes me wonder is how now denpa ningens are actually HUMANS. Utagai was showing himself as a human and not as Cygnus Wing, and same for Subaru when he flashed... and Tsukasa. Also how WarRock said nothing means that Cygnus didn't lie.
Hmm.... maybe in attempt of fighting the other FMs, WarRock at the space station fused with Daigo but then he maybe was defeated or something? _________________ SPOILER:

Same principle, I believe.
From when Cygnus Wing changed back into Utagai until Rockman's denpa henkan flickers: (yes, I loved that part so much )
Code: |
Utagai: Help me. Please help me, Subaru-kun!
Rockman: Utagai-san...
Warrock: Don't be fooled by him, Subaru!
Rockman: But...
Warrock: Don't fall for it. Attack!
Rockman: I can't! I'm going against a human being!
Warrock: The one right there now is NOT human! Hurry up and shoot!
Rockman: But... I can't!
Warrock: Subaru!
Utagai: Yes, Subaru. The FM-seijin, we humans mean nothing to them.
That's why it's so easy for him to order you to shoot me.
Just like that time...
...when the space station fell under attack.
Rockman: Space station...?
Utagai: By the orders of th FM-king, Warrock and nine other FM-seijin attacked your father's space station.
Warrock: Keep your focus on the battle, Subaru!
Utagai: The one who killed your father... is Warrock!
Rockman: Is it true... Warrock?
Warrock: Don't lose focus Subaru, or the Denpa Henkan will wear off.
Utagai: Yes, it's true. You're in Denpa Henkan with your father's murderer!

Thanks for the translation Numbergirl. Wow, that really must have come as a shock to poor Subaru. I don't know if Utagai was speaking the truth but then I would have expected Warrock to at least react to it.
After this I think Warrock should really become honest with the boy. _________________ This great avatar is made by Synchro-kun. Thank you! |

HOLY COW PLOT TWIST!!
It sounds almost like a line worthy of Star Wars.
Holy Junk that was an incredible episode! It left me shaking with excitement! ZOMG!
*deep breath* okay...I'm calm now...
First, I think Cygnus is either lying or twisting the truth in order to make Subaru vulnerable. He's done that before I think...lying and twisting the truth to Utagai so that he might become a better host for Cygnus.
IF what Cygnus said is true, then it must be the reason why WarRock betrayed the FM Seijin. To kill innocent people in cold blood...
WarRock must've felt guilty about it or something...and he probably still does.
Now it makes sense why WarRock kept silent about Daigo. _________________

Such drama! This must've impacted many fans. The director must have went real deep to create a dark episode. The suspense, when I watched it, almost had me faint! Oh, and to guess, Tsukasa can do that as much as Cygnus can because they have mastered Radio Wave Convesion. I think Cygnus mentioned it before in that episode in Amaken. |

Either the anime is getting very creative, or Cygnus/Utagai is a lying (expletive deleted), for wasn't it Taurus that attacked the station in the game?
But come to think of it, Daigo did briefly see the shadow of Warrock in Ryuusei 1... Hmm, very interesting. Though I heavily doubt Daigo is dead: we've seen how often people 'die' in the anime. Yuriko got hit by a truck, slashed by Dark Blues, fell off a bridge... Misaki had some kinda heart attack, and later fell off the same bridge... Wily, well, he's Wily.
The only people who've truely been killed in the Rockman Network Universe have been Regal in the anime, and Inukai offscreen in EXE3. I think that's it. _________________ ' I don't care if the buzz isn't real- I can roleplay being drunk!'

You mean when Utagai became invisble and when Tsukasa was sitting on the wave road?
You're probably right. That was my guess anyway.
I kinda doubt Daigo is dead, too, but not too much. Not many people can survive long in space. Especially after an explosion. But at the same time, Subaru did have that "feeling" in Ryusei 2...
Oh, and Yuriko survived because Duo gave her superhuman abilities, such as the power to heal quickly, and Misaki, um...I dunno. It might have something to do with the Dark Chip (even though that's the thing that caused it). _________________

Nope.
Beware - The reason War-Rock turned against the FM Planet: War-Rock wants revenge for the destruction of the AM Planet, where he is really from. He has been planning to desert the FM ranks for a long time. Because he is an AM Seijin, he is able to receive the power of Star Force from the AM Satellites. It's also the reason the Satellites choose to help him in the first place.
Also, about Hoshikawa Daigo and what happened to him: Daigo is not dead and while War-Rock was meant to be part of the force that was sent to kill him (in the games, it was just a small force led by Ox under Gemini's orders) he never participated and instead went on ahead and made friendly contact with Daigo. When the space station was attacked, Daigo pleaded War-Rock to help him convert himself and his team into Denpa for two reasons. 1. So he could escape the attack and 2. So he could travel to the FM Planet.
About Tsukasa and Utagai being able to sit/stand on the Wave Roads...FM Seijin have the ability to convert humans into denpa. That's how Denpa Henkan works...first the human is converted, and then the FM Seijin merges with them. You'll see humans being brought into the Denpa and Dennou words a lot in the games. _________________ ~DrkX (Resident over-sexed camera-whore & Facebook zombie.)

Oh I was well aware of that. It still goes to show how unreliable death is in the EXE Universe. We can only truely say that they're dead if a character outright states it, or we see their cold, dessicated, and in Regal's case, mummified corspe. _________________ ' I don't care if the buzz isn't real- I can roleplay being drunk!'

...though craploads seem to die in the manga universe, especially in the final volume as well as one chapter in volume 6. :/ _________________ ~DrkX (Resident over-sexed camera-whore & Facebook zombie.)

Well, we actually see them die there, or at least see the aftermath of disasters that no normal human, or navi, could possibly survive (thinks to the wreckage during and leading up to the Megaman vs Bass fight earier on in the manga), so I see little to argue there. The primary sources, the games and anime, are much more vague and ambiguous when it comes to character deaths. _________________ ' I don't care if the buzz isn't real- I can roleplay being drunk!'

Wow, holy freakin' awesomeness! Absolutely loved that fight and it's beginning Cowboy Bebop-esque punches and kicks! Very fun to frame through it after seeing it in full speed. I definitely plan to cap quite a few pics from this eppy. A little surprised at how dark the whole episode was, but happy it was. Didn't quite see Amachi's little problem coming. Guess the Nyuudou laws of EXE physics don't apply anymore. Some great Amachi art in those scenes as well. Utagai isn't exactly our little emo guy anymore, is he? He's turned into a great villain in my mind. _________________ Avatar art thanks to toberboobap, animated gif thanks to Dr. Wily II
