Okay.I've been debating about this with some people on another forum and my brother for a while.Dunno if you're like that as well. So,here's the question:
Which is better? The Soul series or the Smash series?I like the Smash series, but I think it could have more substance.
The Soul series...well,it has historical fiction,better costumes,more weapons...a better endgame boss...better music...

Super smash. Soul has gotten stale, and boring. Super smash has items, pokemon, and popular characters. Plus, just look at all the hype Brawl is making. _________________

Can we assume that by "soul and smash" you mean Soul Caliber and Smash Brothers? _________________ One of the three EXE sisters! *Armstrong-style pose*

This may be too hard to decide. You have a real fighting game then a fun type fighting game with less realism. |

I would have to say that it goes with personal interest.
soul has realism and the it has a story.you can play online against other or play and RPG story(this goes with only 3rd one).I find there is a lot more moves but they can be hard to do them.
smash has simpler controls but is less realitic and doesn't have a story.
I go more to smash because I get more fun out of it when I'm against my brother. He just told me he likes smash for its wackyness and simpleness in terms of general as he plays really good both series.Sometimes I like to play Soul as this bring fun kicking the a$$ of someone else _________________ don't mind me.I'm quite quiet.

That's rather hard to call. They're both excellent series that each focus on something different. Soul Calibur focuses on one-on-one, weapon-based, semi-realistic fighting. Smash Bros focuses on chaotic, fast-paced, multiplayer brawls. If I had to choose just one, it'd be Smash Bros simply because it can be enjoyed by more people at once, with Soul Calibur as an incredibly close second. _________________ Stuck In The Middle With You; a Metroid and Halo crossover

The other one that doesn't even come close to the glory of these two series, would be the Dragoon Ball series which i find to have been exhausted. _________________

You got to love smash. Many old charters with cool new looks. Old levels with new looks. Weapons from hit games. Adventure mode, regular mode, super star mode. The trophies are addictive too collect. And the game play rocks the house like a fox in a hen house. _________________ Please visit my deviant.

I'd say I prefer Smash Bros, but it does have an advantage of being 4 player multiplayer as opposed to the mere 2 of Soul Calibur. _________________

Why is this even a question? Smash Bros. is better by miles. (Rockman.exe for Brawl!) _________________ Stop looking at my sig. Stop it. Stop it. STOP IT. WHAT PART OF STOP LOOKING AT MY SIG DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND?!?!?!?!?! |

It has to be classic. He was there first. Plus EXE already was in a fighter. |

well, I suppose if one of the Rockman characters will be in Brawl, it's going to be classic, but I'd still like to see RM.exe in Smash Bros. _________________ Stop looking at my sig. Stop it. Stop it. STOP IT. WHAT PART OF STOP LOOKING AT MY SIG DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND?!?!?!?!?! |

To answer Izumi's question,it is 'Soul Calibur' and 'Super Smash Bros' I'm referring to. _________________ Things are going to be changing soon in the next few months.Stay tuned for updates and the like. |

Yeah I prefer Smash Bros, Soul Caliber is losing its appeal as a fighting game.
And with characters like Snake and hopefully Sonic coming up in the next game,
namco can't beat characters like Mario, Link, Samus and the Ultimate Fighter,
Kirby. Oh yeah, its gonna be good. _________________ I hate my hormones.................. |

When comparing them, you have to take in account that even thought they're both fighting games, they're on nearly different spectrums. Smash bros is a fun multiplayer game loaded with popular well known and classic battlegrounds, items, and fighters. And soul caliber is a 'realistic' 2 player video game. Comparing them is extremely hard because of that fact. Personally I prefer smash bros, because I know it better. But that's the only reason. I've played SC series, own a game or two, and I like it, but I'm more familiar with ssb. If I knew them both equally I probably wouldn't even have a side to take... |

Super Smash Bros. will probably never be topped as the most amazing fighter ever conceived. Soul Calibur is good, but I don't see it in the same league as Smash Bros. _________________

this is a really stupid debate, not only are you bound to get answers of Smash Brothers because of the huge fanbase but your also comparing two games that are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT! The only similarity is that your hitting your opponent, smash brothers is a brawler that takes place one a two dimensional playing field with two to four characters ducking it out with a low amount of attacks and depth of combat but a large amount of strategy and items. Soul calibur is a fully fledged fighting game where players make use of large combat repertoires to defeat their oppent in three dimensional space.
no comparison is possible unless your asking on which one you like better and then still your guaranteed an overwhelming Smash support. |

I thought it was a weird debate. They are two very different fighting games. |
