Sony's biggest problem is that it's not very good at PR, but it does consistently output solid products. The PSP is really getting mature - it's come a long way since its initial firmware version - and the PS3 has everything it needs to be a great system.

The launch wasn't spectacular, but the PS3 is only just beginning to get some great games. I expect that the PS3 is really going to pick up as more and more games come out for it.

I for one am going to go get one when SCE Studio Liverpool releases WipEout for the PS3. (I'm a huge WipEout fanboy. WipEout Pure was the reason I chose the PSP over the NDS when I was in the market for a portable console, and I nearly crapped my pants when SCEE anounced WipEout Pulse.)

this whole point of console wars is moot...it is all nintendo's fault...

How is it Nintendo's fault? Sony wanted most of the profits. If the system was going to unfairly hog profits to either side, why would there be an alliance?

A major downfall for sony is that their ps3 is too expensive. Mostly because of the extra features it holds, if anything, that's going to crush them. Gamers mostly would like a gameing system. If the other features really add nothing to gameplay, but add to price, then it's anit-productive to have them. On another message board I visit, I heard that Sony intends to redo the ps3, and make a ps3 "2" or something. Similar to the 360 elite. Possibly with a smaller price. If that's true, then sony isn't out completely. But as of now, it's looking like exclusive titles will help them. I really wouldn't know of anything else...

The PS3 may be very expensive, but it's also the single most technically advanced console out there. While it's true that all consoles ultimately compete with each other on some level, Sony is really aiming for a very refined niche in the market. To that end, the PS3 has been an immense success.

Why, yes, a HUGE success...

Unfortunately for Sony, the rest of the world has a very different view of success. And with exclusives dropping like flies and an insistence that they're doing the right thing, it doesn't look like that's going to change any time soon.
