You need friend codes to get the downstairs Pokemon center Wi-fi to work. I had the same problem. You recieve your friend code from the lady by the computer downstairs in the Center. It's a red book in your key items.

On topic: so did anyone else find the Elite Four + the Champion a bit... harder than usual? o.O;

I think it was because they used such a variety of Pokemon, in past games, each one of the EF had a theme, and all of their Pokemon adhered to that theme. Diamond and Pearl don't seem to apply to that standard though.

Here's the team I'm working on:
-Empoleon Lvl. 64
-Drifblim Lvl. 44
-Croagunk Lvl. 36
-Abomasnow Lvl. 41
-Gabite Lvl. 42

And later I'm going to catch a Heatran for the team.

I find it a bit lame that there are only 3 families of fire pokemon availible before you get the National Dex: the Chimchar line, Ponyta line, and Heatran.

Current team is as follows:

Empoleon lv. 40

Strength
Metal Claw
Bubble Beam
Surf

Staraptor lv. 40

Wing Attack
Aerial Ace
Fly
Defog

Luxray lv 41

Tackle
Crunch
Shockwave
Spark

Rapidash lv 40

Fury Attack
Stomp
Flamethrower
Fire Blast

Lucario lv 35

Quick Attack
Drain Punch
Force Palm
Shadow Claw

I also carry a very weak Geodude and Bidoof around sometimes for Rock Smash and Cut, respectively.

I've recently gotten the sixth badge, and am currently leveling Lucario up to 40 before I take on Mt. Coronet and Team Galactic. I plan to catch a Munchlax to add to my main team and evolve it into a Snorlax, but it appears I can't do that until I reach a power plant of some sort.

Is it just me, or is this game much longer than previous installments?

Magby, Magmar, and Magmortar aren't in that list because...?

My team is coming up on the 50s, we're training for the Elite 4. Three Level 49 Pokemon, one at 47 and two at 45.

Currently at an average of level 27-ish, with 3 powerful ones and 2 other to carry around.

And is it just me, but this game ... feels a lot laggier in a way than the previous versions? For example, it would take my forever just to flee from a wild pokemon for the number of animation there is and the large amount of text displayed. i.e. Double battle used to take me around 1~2 minutes to finish, yet now in Diamond it takes me around 3~5 minutes for all the fancy animation to display.

It's really irritating to me and makes me want to just drop the game. >_>;

(And yes, I know you can turn off the battle animation, but it just feels laggier overall.)

I went back to emerald, and that seems alot slower than Pearl version, despite the graphics... maybe you're just not enjoying the eye candy enough... >:

I myself have just beat the sixth gym, then went back and caught a Gible, and am now training it up on Iron Island to get it caught up to the rest of my team, which currently includes:

Empoleon Lv36
Crobat Lv37
Luxray Lv36
Medicham Lv37
Ponyta Lv35
Gabite Lv33

I also find the game to be quite a bit longer, but in a very good way; there's so much more to do and so much more to the story than simply going from city to city earning badges.

Hmm ... I guess I am not just not used to the pre-battle animation then, since I have only played Sapphire and Leaf Green in my life.

Man, I wish they would implement an option in the future games so you can have individual options of turning this eye-candy off and this still on. (Like having battle animation on, pre-battle animation off, and all the weather animation off. =P)

I too found this game long, All in my life playing pokemon, I actually got lost a couple times when in the past games. They direct you where to go unlike D/P you have to figure out which city haves the next gym badge.

Right now, I just caught Daigla and beat the Team Galatic boss, And now training to beat the last gym badge..although I gotta stop defeating them at a low level againts, I mean.

With the ghost gym leader. My Lv 28 Lucio took on 2 Lv 35 (Or was it 32 34?) Pokemon Gengar, and what looks like Misdeaveouse (Did I spell that right??) evolve form, While Monferno (Lv 28 ) Defeated her 2nd Pokemon.

Here's my team so far, Gonna try and beat the game with the line up I have..but might switch during the 8th and Elite 4 battles.

Diamond Team:

Manaphy Lv 40

Surf
Bubblebeam
Brine
Bubble

Infernape Lv 39

Scracth (Don't ask)
Flame Wheel
Ember
Close Combat

LuxRay LV 38

Crunch
Spark
Charge
Bite

Staravia Lv 32

Fly
Wing attack
Defog
Airiall Ace

Lucario Lv 35 (Recently evolve right after the 2 on 2 Team galactic grunts fight)

Quick Attack
Force Palm
Counter
Copycat

Machop Lv 26

Vital Throw
Strength
Rocksmash
Rockclimb

I'm about to give Machop the EXP.Share item so it can catch up with the others. But I'm amaze I manage to defeat all 7 Gym leaders on my first try with these levels. I even forgotten to buy items during my fights heh^_^o..

wow, so i wasn't the only one to notice this? awesome! yeah, so i had my Pokemon on levels 48-49 and thought, "why don't i try the Elite Four just for fun?" i planned to actually raise my Pokemon to level 55 so that's why i didn't save. somehow, i beat all 4 (and used Revives and Hyper Potions between trainers) before i got to the Champion. since i had to walk down a longer hallway i figured the battle would start as soon as i walked in the room and so i saved the game and ... GOT STOMPED ON! holy crap, i just shut the game off and took a walk. while i was walking i thought about how to train them and remembered i have about 8 Rare Candies, some Carbos, Iron, Protein, and the like that i haven't used for the entire game! so, i used 'em and beat the Champion. the ending animation was pretty cool. oh yeah, here's my team ...

Deilga (Dialga)
Lv. 50

Creeper (Haunter)
Lv. 51

Shakiin (Luxray)
Lv. 51

Dizzy (Golduck)
Lv. 51

Starstruck (Staraptor)
Lv. 51

Chinchill (Empoleon)
Lv. 52

when they grow a level i rearrange the order so that the one at the lowest level and has less HP goes first. started this training method with Pokemon Blue!

Don't mess with the date and just let it come naturally. I know Starry did it that way, but if it's not working then just let it come on it's own.
