And since I can't go, I can't help really. Maybe the editting portion ... but I think we have people for that already. | I'll have a pretty shiny new Macbook Pro in a couple of weeks from now... I'd be happy to give iMovie a whirl and help out with encoding and editing :3 _________________

Did you have any plans on what type of tournament style this one will be? Single Elimination? A number of "swiss" round and a cut to Top4/8/whatever? Best of three matches for all of it, or for just top 4/8/whatever?
Maybe we can get feedback here on what more people would prefer. _________________ (\ ºvº\ (\

I vote for an all-out brawl... a fight to the death.
Last two people left standing shall then pull out their Gameboys and play Rockman. _________________

What's LJ? An all our brawl huh, not tournament style? An all out brawl sounds a bit unorganized _________________ Please visit my deviant.

So, no other thoughts on format? Swiss? Brackets? Single elimination? Best-of-three? _________________ (\ ºvº\ (\

I'm tempted to think best-of-three matches are the best, though they do take up time. It serves to overcome the whole luck-based part of drawing chips a touch.
Sideboarding is probably not a good idea, unless you limit the sideboards to a given size and have each player register the exact composition of their folders before the matches begin. But that would be needlessly complicated, no? _________________ Today, these three players are after Big Bucks! I would personally think a swiss system be best - each pairing would be a game with best-of-three.
And yes, sideboarding would become ridiculously complicated, within the time frame, no? _________________

Single-elimination/best of three is what we did last year and I think it turns out the best. _________________ Rumack: What was it we had for dinner tonight?

Actually, last year we did single elimination/best-of-one to save on time. Best of three was two years ago. The year before that you did swiss with a cut to top 4. _________________ (\ ºvº\ (\

Thaaaat's right. So really, it's either best of one or best of three. Whichever you guys prefer. Personally I think best of one--while a skooch unfair, fits better into the time frame...but it doesn't really matter. _________________ Rumack: What was it we had for dinner tonight?

Swiss might be the way to go then. Do x rounds of swiss (this way people get to play more than one game even if they lose), swiss can be best of one, then cut to top x and have those games be best of three?
Do we want to record every match and do them all one at a time? That would somewhat preclude doing swiss.
Also, question not related to the tourny: Will the GameCube/GB Player be available in the hotel room(s)? That way we can use it for netbattles after hours :D _________________ (\ ºvº\ (\

I like Pyo's idea. Swiss with cuts sound good. Of course, you'll need a way to randomize the pairings and track points. The finals being best of 3 is a nice compromise between lessening the effects of luck and brevity. _________________ Today, these three players are after Big Bucks! Well, lucky for you guys (actually, maybe unlucky =P), I will be attending this summers Otakon and the tournament.
I'm living and working the whole summer in Rockville, Maryland, so it won't be too much of a hassle to get over there.
Get your folders ready. =P _________________
