The tail is still something I'm working on trying to plan. It'll most likely be a mix of the teal spandex fabric, and red craft foam to make the "spikey" edges. It'll probably be stuffed, with wire inside to give it a bit of springy-ness to it. Not quite sure how to attach it yet. XD _________________ "Cats are interesting. They're kind of like girls. ...That is the most SINGLE COOLEST THING I'VE SEEN, EVER! I wonder, are you even planning, yet, on the construction of the legs? Not that I'm rushing, but I just wanted to know if you are attempting to do it. |

The helmet is actually much darker in person, I dunno why it photographs so darn light. |
Not trying to nitpick too much, but it's definitely a dark green in everything I've got. The EXE Secrets artbook, the picture on the back of the box, even the opening of Beast and the official site for the games (http://www.capcom.co.jp/rockmanexe/) has it as a dark green.
Anyway, aside from that it looks like an awesome costume. It'd be lots of fun to walk around and menace people in that. _________________

Nenji needs to head to the eye doctor! ;p I wouldn't call it a dark green at all; like Ryo said, it's a teal or blue-green. Granted, the way it photgraphed, yes her cosplay helmet looks more like a Yamatoman blue than the color it should be. But there is a blueish tint to the color in the official works and screencaps. It's not a dark green. _________________ Avatar art thanks to toberboobap, animated gif thanks to Dr. Wily II

I have 20/20 vision. -__-
Take it as you will, I could go and colour swatch it but that seems kind of excessive and if Ryou thinks it's fine as is, that's her decision. In some of the shots it does look tealish, but my opinion is it's definitely more green than it is blue. _________________

It does look tealish in the anime screenshots, but to me it looks a little more on the green side in the game art.
Though my vision is apparently 20/50, so you probably shouldn't pay me much heed. _________________ ' I don't care if the buzz isn't real- I can roleplay being drunk!'

[semantics]
Well, if worse comes to worse, she can just say she's using the Greiga Beast Link Gate color scheme (the pic totally matches that in my opinion.)
I just thought calling it "dark green" wasn't accurate. Of course there is some green in there, but teal is not dark green. The figure, which you can find a pic at Toys and Joys, looks pretty teal to me as well, as another example.

I don't think having 20/20 vision has anything to do with how your eyes pick up colors. I've had arguments over the color of things with both of my parents, such as a cup which I swore was purple, but Mom swore was a dark blue. My stepdad is partially color-blind and can't distinguish between oranges and browns. Though they need glasses because they're getting older, I have a friend who's color blind and can only see what he calls a basic "Crayon box set of colors." (He once asked someone in a red and gray sweater why they had Christmas colors on thinking gray was green.) Yet, his eyesight is fine; no glasses needed.
If anything, this brings up a big debate... who's perception of color is correct? Hard to tell, but if my two cents make any difference, Greiga Rockman is far more blue than green to me (definitely a teal-blue) in official artwork... a bit greener in battle sprites. _________________

Oh wow, I just found out about this thread.
I'm quite surprised to see your choice for cosplay there. The thought of seeing any Greiga Rockman cosplay never crossed my mind. Since he's one of my favourite character design, I'm quite excited to see the result of your work XP
I won't jump into the colour thing, but I do know that photos doesn't do justice to it sometimes X3
Keep up the good work~! |

Using this image, the GIMP says that the color is 0.18 red, 0.44 green, and 0.50 blue. HTML teal is 0.00 red, 0.50 green, and 0.50 blue. So I think that "light teal" is an appropriate description.
Oh, and color of the costume helmet in the photo is approximately 0.00 red, 0.80 green, and 1.00 blue. _________________ All life begins with Nu and ends with Nu... This is the truth! This is my belief! ...At least for now.

The generally accepted hex triplet for teal is #008080, whereas in tuxdev's image, Rockman is #2e6f81.
I'd say it's more of a desaturated azure than teal, or perhaps cerulean. Teal is just a bit too green. _________________ *placeholder* |

Looks aqua with more green in it to me. It's ok what you call it, just as long that the color matches. Oh, and the colour also depends on what settings your screen is on.
I look forward to the complete helmet! |

Dude, you guys, like I said before, this photo does NOT show the real color of my helmet. The flash really bleached out the blue to a far lighter shade than it really is.
I really don't think it's a huge issue to be absolutely 100% spot on to the right shade of blue, green, or whatever. XD _________________ "Cats are interesting. They're kind of like girls. When they come talk to you, it's great. When you go talk to them, it doesn't go so well." - Miyamoto

Mind if i ask?
It's said that you will make the mouth guard
If that mouth guard is somewhat pressed the mouth area until the lower area of forehead, i think it'll be not comfortable for us to wear that since it'll make harder to breathe and worse, harder to speak.
I think of this matter and come up to a dead end to solve this. Since we try to make the guard as good as possible but keep us at good stake of health
Simply and surely, we all want a great costume like Greiga Rockman, but remember about comfortability and health.

I plan to construct the basic shape of the mouth guard using wonderflex plastic (it is easily shaped by applying a hair dryer to heat it), but leaving the mouth space area open. I will then stretch fabric over the entire piece, that will be breathable. So though the piece will look whole, it really is not.
The plan is to get a lot of progress done this week, since I actually have four days off in a row. T_T _________________ "Cats are interesting. They're kind of like girls. When they come talk to you, it's great. When you go talk to them, it doesn't go so well." - Miyamoto

Hey, that sounds good. I'm looking forward on progress of this costume.
I asked my friend one day, and he said that i can use the mask that he usually used when he was riding motor cycle. I don't know about this thing.
But, i'll give a try on this costume one day. _________________ Your last word will become the word that will always be remembered by anybody |

Holy freaking peanuts, it's an update! I bring you a (semi) completed arm armor.
So, I thought I was going to make most of the rest of my armor out of foam. But when I tried it, I failed miserably. Having to hand sew a lot of the fabric to cover the foam just looked flat out ugly. Therefor, I'm going back to my roots, and will be making the arms and legs out of hard-shelled paper mache, just like the helmet.
First off, I still want to use foam as the underlying layer, so it's comfortable to wear. I cut out two pieces, one for each arm, that would wrap around snugly up to my elbow. I then used a hot glue gun to attach some black fabric to one side of each foam, which will be the underside.
Once that cools down, I take my thread and needle, and hand sew each end of the fabric covered foam together, so it makes a nice fluffy arm cover.
Next, I cut out two same shape strips out of thick poster board, and slowly (SLOWLY, I BURNZED MYSELF TWICE) hot glue the poster board to the outside of your foam arm cover. This will make the hard basis which I will built upon, and paper mache later once construction is complete.
Side view:
Top view:
Next up is to make the rings that go around the top and bottom halves of each arm piece. I'm all about using cheap materials, so I snagged myself a bag of styrophome bowls at Wal-Mart for about a buck. These are really easy to cut apart and adjust as needed, too. Using my exacto knife, I trimmed off the top edges that stuck out, and cut out the middle. Wallah! You have your rings. I used masking tape to cover absolutely everything, as it makes it much stronger and easier to paper mache.
Once I have both rings taped together, I slide them on to the main arm piece, just to judge how I'm doing so far. Lookin' good!
Now for the fun part, those claws. Again I'm using foam board for these, cause I love foam board. Another product you can find for cheap at Wal-Mart. Using my exacto knife, I cut out two identical claw shapes that I hand drew, making sure that their length equals that of the entire arm piece.
Once they are cut out, I sliced two horizontal holes into the top of the upmost ring, so I can fit the ends of the claws snugly into place. This will make them more sturdy, and less unlikely to snap off once I wear this thing.
Once that is completed, there's the last piece of armor sticking out of the backend of the arm piece to do. For this, I cut a diamond shape out of the foam board, cut it in four pieces (lengthwise and widthwise), then taped them all back together again so they could be adjusted easily. Once I got the shape I wanted, I taped the whole thing onto the ring on the other side, opposite the claws.
....and there you go! One arm armor is done and ready to paper mache (after I tape up the claws. Tape up EVERYTHING. Makes paper mache-ing so much easier and uniform). The second one will be much faster to construct now that I know wtf I'm doing.
Next up, the leg armor. Arrrr. _________________ "Cats are interesting. They're kind of like girls. When they come talk to you, it's great. When you go talk to them, it doesn't go so well." - Miyamoto
