Yes, I'm Neko-Salosa on FF.net XD

And I had Netto disguised as a girl because I wanted someone to be close to those three girls. I made Tala, Kimiko and Gren as OC's a bit before I started this fic. Actually they started out as sisters but that's a different story XD

It was easier to pull the 'disguise' then have Meiru join the Net Saviors or something (I don't like Meiru very much either) My best writing for this fandom tends to be when I have Netto, Enzan and Laika on a mission together XD so I play to that. I guess one could argue that I could have made Tala, Kimiko and Gren boys but then the sub plot I have coming up wouldn't have been possible.

And yes, Jerald is a creepy bastard and he totally knows it. Just wait, I haven't even started with his characterization yet.

Wait. You're... Neko Salosa?

Woah. Woah. Just... woah.

Your stories were one of the reasons I became a fanfic writer! To find out that you come here... wow. Just...

A very nice story, as I have said before. Keep up the good work!

Well, I'm very honored :3 actually my first fic ever was posted to this forum. Er... well... this forum of 4 years ago. I migrated to FF.net to follow Arison and Izumi oddly enough.

Don't worry, I plan on updating another fic I started awhile ago as well. Look for it :D

Well that was quite a cliffhangerish way to end a chapter...
Why is it that all my favorite fan fictions seem to have like 6months to a year between their updates? *sigh*

Enjoyment comes at a price I suppose. Confused

'Cause, if they were released every day, we wouldn't enjoy them as much!

But seriously. Think how long it took you to write "Un Mande Sans Danger." was it any different? Would you honestly expect a great work of art to be rushed?

BTW, if you say that it took you less then a month to write it, I will hate you. XD

But Ms. CB/Roul Soul brings up a point. It was very cliffhangerish.

Umm...I think you have a classic case of mistaken identity here. The CB you are referring to is Roll_Soul, not the poster above. Yeah, it makes for a lot of confusion at times.

And Neko, take your time. Good writing is like wine--it should not be rushed in its production.

So true! ^__^

I've never actually come across this fanfic of yours before, but I have to say it's up there in my favourites right now! It's nice to know that your willing to go back to those stories that have been sitting around for a little while and get knee deep in it! XD So I must congratulate you on that at the very least.

This story is very well written, and I find it intriguing that Netto can sense data signatures. That and how his shock in the "Surprise" scene caused a recoil that affected the lights, was also very interesting (not to mention amusing). Is that to do with your theory on the link making him less human?

All in all, an excellent read. Well done Neko! :D

Netto blinked once and his brow furrowed in thought. Enzan sunk into a chair and rubbed his forehead tiredly. “Apparently it does. So?” he asked.

Netto yawned into the back of his hand before answering. “He’s the tech club president,” he said.

“And?” Laika pressed.

“He’s creepy,” Rockman continued as Netto finished off his drink. “From what we could tell he creates any electronic device he carries from scratch and he has a force field around his person that’s at least strong enough to stop electric shocks, absorb energy and give off a data signature. We don’t really know what else it does though.”

“So, he a paranoid tech genius,” Enzan concluded.

Netto nodded and set the empty cup on the bedside stand. “Yeah, he is. So, he’s the best techie in the school?”

“From what we’ve been able to gather, yes. But he’s not a target,” Laika said as he paced up and down the front of the room. Netto’s gaze followed his path while Enzan merely drank his coffee. “Furthermore there are no tech people mentioned as targets. So, we can assume…”

“He’s working with whoever is planning the kidnappings,” Enzan finished before Laika could. Laika caught Enzan’s gaze and Enzan merely smiled in return. “Netto, do you think he could?”

Netto snorted and fell onto his back in the fluff of Enzan’s comforter. “Yeah. He’s paranoid and creepy and honestly, he’s hiding a lot. That force field thing he has on probably keeps people from being able to ping his handheld too. If he was part of this, it wouldn’t surprise me.”

“All right, so we need to keep our eyes on him,” Laika said. “Good thing you made it into the Tech Club then,” he said to Netto pointedly.

“You two will have to do the digging though. He already knows I have Rockman, plus I hacked right in front of him so he’ll probably be able to recognize me if I did it again,” Netto said. “But I can follow him around and stuff,” Netto said wickedly.

“You and Rockman can’t be detected, though. Just make sure you’re careful when you follow him, Netto-san,” Searchman said firmly.

Netto nodded and sat up. He stretched his arms above his head and yawned. “When am I not?” he asked with humor. He was silent for a second before standing up. “Don’t answer that,” he said quickly.

Rockman stifled a chuckle as Netto walked over to the window. “Anything else?” he asked from his PET.

“Keep us informed,” Enzan said. “We need to make sure that no one else vanishes while we’re here.”

Netto nodded and opened the window. “If we don’t see you tomorrow I’ll write an e-mail. Don’t worry, we can take care of ourselves,” he said cheekily. “You don’t have to check up on me every time after I do something.”

“If we don’t who will?” Enzan asked chidingly.

Netto snorted and vanished into the foliage of the tree. Enzan sighed and shut the window behind him. “Looks like it starts now,” he said softly.

Laika nodded and pulled out his own room key. “We just need to make sure we don’t slip up either. He’s right, they can take care of themselves. You don’t need to be so concerned about them.”

Enzan shrugged and made sure the door was locked after Laika left. “It’s all right, Enzan-sama. Searchman says Laika is probably as concerned as you are,” Blues said.

Enzan laughed lightly as he turned out the lights. “And he’s not concerned at all. Well, at least we’re here to worry for him.”

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

As the weekend came Netto found himself in dire need of some kind of break. Between his less then stellar grades in school and trying to keep his eye on Tala he was getting more and more tired and less enthralled with the mission its self.

“Like a spy movie, huh?” Rockman asked.

“Shut up,” Netto replied sleepily. “This is more like work. Come on, you promised me you would help with the homework if I fell too far behind. Please?”

Rockman smiled and nodded. “All right, but don’t expect this to happen when we go back home.”

Netto rolled his eyes. “I am never complaining to Miss Mariko about how much homework she gives every again.”

Rockman laughed out right and only paused when he heard a soft knocking at the door. “Netto-kun, it’s Gren-chan, Tala-chan and Kimiko-chan. Do you want me to answer?”

Netto nodded and stifled a yawn. “Yeah, we can deal with this later.” He slammed his books shut for good measure as his door opened.

Kimiko whistled at the state of Netto’s messy dorm. “Wow, Net-chan. I had a feeling you were messy but this is impressive. You haven’t even been here a week.”

“Nice to see you too,” Netto replied dryly.

Gren and Tala both laughed as Kimiko shrugged sheepishly. “Well whatever. So, wanna go to the town today? It’s the weekend and we’re all bored.”

“Town?” Netto asked.

Kimiko nodded and slung an arm around Netto’s shoulders. “Yeah, there’s a town a little ways from here where we hang out and shop and well get away from the school really. You know, relax. You look like you could use it.”

/Can we go?/ Netto asked.

/Can we afford to go?/ Rockman replied. /Don’t forget, you need to finish your homework and write up the reports for Miss Manabe./

/I don’t care about the homework,/ Netto pouted.

/You should,/ Rockman said crossly. /You know you can’t afford to screw up. It’s not like normal school./

Tala noticed Netto’s pause and glanced down at the closed book on his desk. “Homework?” she asked.

Netto laughed nervously and rubbed the back of his head. “I…kinda got backed up. I’m not all that good with history and stuff. I really want to go though…”

“Need some help?” Gren asked softly.

Netto glanced at the shy girl in surprise at the direct question. She blushed as he stared at her and Netto quickly averted his gaze when he realized he was making her uncomfortable. “Yeah, I’d like that. There’s a lot though,” he said slowly.

“Then let’s get started now so we can get down there faster,” Kimiko said with zeal. “Come on.”

A half hour later, Netto’s homework was completed and they were heading out of the school building and towards the shuttle that took the students down to the small town. Netto felt more comfortable as he wore the outfit he had come to the school in. He didn’t mind so much, as long as he was wearing pants or shorts.

They took some empty seats on the right side of the shuttle and Netto immediately turned around and climbed up on his knees to look outside. He missed being able to wander around at his leisure and he also wondered what kind of area they were in. He hadn’t paid much attention to his surroundings when they came in because he was too nervous about the mission. The shuttle was still for a few more minutes and then it began to lurch forward at a comfortable speed as Netto watched the passing terrain.

His sight seeing was interrupted as Kimiko elbowed him sharply in the side. Netto let out a small cry of protest but didn’t turn around. “Net-chan,” Kimiko hissed.

“What?” Netto asked while still staring out the window.

“Your friends are staring at us,” Kimiko said softly.

Netto blinked and looked over his shoulder. He saw Enzan and Laika sitting across from them on the side seats looking disinterested but amused at the same time. He made a small face at them and shrugged. “Ignore them,” he said. “They’re just being annoying.”

“We can hear you, you know,” Laika said amusedly.

“I know,” Netto replied simply. “I wouldn’t say that if I know you couldn’t hear. What’re you doing here anyways?” he asked.

“Going out, like you are,” Enzan replied stiffly. “Is that a crime?”

/They’re following Tala-san in case something happens. Enzan found out that most of the disappearances happen outside of the school,/ Rockman said.

/How’d you know that?/ Netto asked.

/I read the e-mail he sent about ten minutes ago,/ Rockman replied with a laugh. /They’re just being cautious./

Netto looked thoughtful as the shuttle approached a slightly rough road. When the first bump was hit, Netto felt himself loose balance and fall backwards out of his seat. Laika sighed and braced himself against the pole that was placed for when the shuttle was packed and caught Netto in his arm, making sure that he didn’t crack his head open against the floor.

Kimiko, Gren and even Tala blushed as Laika helped Netto straighten up. Netto looked annoyed and pushed Laika away. “Sit in your seat properly,” Laika said.

Netto childishly stuck his tongue out at Laika and sat primly into his seat, on his bottom and facing the right way. “Fine, mom.”

Enzan and Laika both rolled their eyes at Netto’s childishness but didn’t dignify his retort with a reply. Instead Kimiko leaned into Netto with a grin and held up her hand over her mouth so that the two boys couldn’t see what she was whispering into Netto’s ear. “They’re really cute,” she said. “Are they single?”

Netto’s eyes widened and he blushed. Enzan and Laika formed educated guesses as to what Kimiko had whispered to Netto. He quickly shrugged and laughed nervously. “I just kinda hang out with them. I don’t know that kind of stuff about them,” he whispered back.

Kimiko ‘hmmed’ while Tala noted Netto’s obvious discomfort and placed herself between Netto and Kimiko. “Don’t worry about her,” she whispered. “She has a new crush every week.”

“I do not,” Kimiko hissed back, scandalized.

“What about Ta-kun?” Gren asked with a slightly mysterious glint in her eyes.

“Th-that’s different,” Kimiko said loudly as she blushed. Tala gave Gren and thumbs up behind Kimiko’s back and Gren smiled sweetly. The dating status of Enzan and Laika wasn’t mentioned for the rest of the trip.

Maybe it's the enormous amount of School Rumble I've been watching recently, but I felt that this chapter really stuck with me. Your words make the characters sound very alive and helped to make them stick a lot more in the mind.

I admit that I found myself skimming the first half a bit. It's no offense to your writing or anything of the sort, but it seemed a little bland--I pretty much knew what would happen in that section, and it played out as I thought it would.

The second half I paid a lot more heed to. One can feel that the characters are completely at ease with each other and that they are quite unaware of the possible dangers that result. That little extra bit of characterization with Netto's friends inquiring about Laika and Enzan was also a good little bonus.

This worked out well. Kudos to 'ya. o/

Well, for once I don't agree with Ol' Middy's assessment. I didn't feel that the first part was bland at all. It may have been a bit slow, but sometimes that's necessary for a truly good story to properly set itself up.
I do agree that your latest OCs are wonderful. You've a real talent for creating believable & solid characters.
