Very much impressed with this. I would suggest making this a sticky of some sort (maybe not here, fanart perhaps?) to be used as a reference for future projects. I know I'll be using techniques from this in my TomahawkMan costume in the future. _________________

Looks Awesome Ryouko! It's sad to see the foam didn't work out for you, but it's nice to see you have a backup if something doesn't work out. It looks really good this way!
The feet look like they'll be a bit hard to do, so I'm looking forward to seeing how you get around this little challenge. ^_^ _________________ "There is no coincidence, only Hitsuzen" Yuko, xxxHolic

Too good! Looks like you got almost every part on the dot so far. I hope the legs will be as good. By the way, do those arm parts fit nicely? |

Yes, they do. As soon as I have the second one completed, I will take a picture wearing them. :3 Because the inside is foam, the fit very snug and comfortable, and they don't slide thanks to the fabric.
For the legs, I will probably use the same method for the actual leg armor, and then make the feet out of soft foam, since they will need to be mobile. Probably build on top of a shoe. _________________ "Cats are interesting. They're kind of like girls. When they come talk to you, it's great. Whoa. That looks great. Just great. You really can make these complicated costumes can't you ryouko. This should look even greater when you finish. |

The second arm piece was finished quite quickly, thanks to knowing what I was doing after making the first one. XD Tomorrow I will probably begin work on the leg pieces. Once I get everything built, I'll sit down and paper mache everything at once.
Please forgive my messy hair and obviously baggy shirt.
Aaaand a side view. Wow is the room ever cluttered with crap.

They shouldn't. n.n My method of constructing and paper mache makes them pretty solid. _________________ "Cats are interesting. They're kind of like girls. When they come talk to you, it's great. When you go talk to them, it doesn't go so well." - Miyamoto

There's no secret. ^^; just lots and lots of masking tape over EVERYTHING as you build it, and then 2/3rds wood glue, 1/3rd water, and white computer paper for the paper mache, at least two layers. That'll hold it all together pretty well. _________________ "Cats are interesting. They're kind of like girls. When they come talk to you, it's great. I have a strange question for you. Is the frame of the body armor going to based on a male or female frame, considering you are a female? Also, how is the tail? I'd like to see the progress of it so far, if you could. |

I can get myself pretty flat, so it should fit more for a male structure than anything else. Really the only part that concerns those issues will be the vest, which I will be using material covered foam for so I have some mobility.
The tail I haven't started yet, as I am still planning how to contruct it. So far I've come up with using wire on the inside to give it shape, and stuffing a tube of sewn black fabric, then covering the outside of it with painted or fabric covered foam, to give it a more "armor" look. _________________ "Cats are interesting. We never got to see the costume.
While browsing the Otakon 2007 photos, I was hoping to spot you in it. XP; (I did see a Sonic and Shadow one, hilarious :D)
Anyone has taken/seen any? |

That would be because she was not able to finish it on time. She mentioned it in the main Otakon thread. _________________

Sumimasen, Ryouko-san. Could you mention some other Items/ingredients for making the spikes on the helmet than you have posted?
I tried one another item/ingredient from the thing that you have said, and, for some very unfortunate times, i got one of the spike broke off.
I think the item that i used isn't too solid, so the little parts like the edge of the spike would easily broke off.
For tail construction, you should try to see the cosplay construction for Digi Charat characters. _________________ Your last word will become the word that will always be remembered by anybody |

^^; Sorry to comment again so soon (maybe) but I was curious on how you're going to glue the star on. I was thinking of making the Biometals for my ZX series cosplays (Aile, Ashe, and all of the ZX Models) and do you think that I should make all of the pieces seperately, paper mache them, and glue them together or paper mache and glue them together? |
