As a hopeful of going to Otakon next year, i wanted to know how much the whole experience is going to cost. I know all the cases vary, but what is the average amount of money that is spent during the experience per person? Factoring in hotel, transportation, food, admission, and other stuff like that, (and of course, airfare). All estimates are greatly appreciated. _________________

Airfare I really can't tell you, since it depends on your location, and what type of airline you fly on.
Admission: 50
food: Depends how much you eat. I usually factor in a good 100 for food, since my body only requires one meal a day. I don't think I spent that much, cause I always buy from the little sammich stand in the inner harbor court.
hotel: Also depends if you go with people, and what hotel. Days Inn is the cheapest, while the Sheraton can get rather pricey.
Then there's the bus from BWI to the convention center, which is I -think-... 11 bucks?
then whatever amount of money you limit yourself in the dealers room. _________________

Grrrrrrrrrrr..... Ok there was a wasted hour. To sum up my nice post, I called, no inputs we'll need converters. I searched for converters and had some nice links. Basically do a Google Checkout search for Philips PH-61155 ($11 to $20) and Best Buy has one for $19. I had some nice links and other stuff but...
Also please check into why I can't post links. |

Thanks for looking into to, Maverick! We don't have Best Buys in Canada - we have Future Shop (which is owned by Best Buy)... but FS doesn't seem to carry that product... the only thing close to it is around CAD$40, which is still about USD$37. Perhaps someone near a Best Buy could purchase one of these Philips PH-61155's and bring it to me at the con? I'd be happy to reimburse the purchaser via PayPal :D _________________

If you look at Ritz Camera (don't ask me why) Online they have it for around $11. You should be able to order it and have it shipped to you. The one at Best Buy is a different modle (I'll look later, I'm on my phone now) and it's $19. If you still need me to buy them then just tell me. |

I did recommend one I found at Big Lots for $9, I think it's a "Phillips", so maybe we should look there if you wanna sav some cash, cuz I know this trip taking chunks out of our pockets _________________ -Follow me on Twitch.tv-

That sounds promising. Probably won't be the best quality, but it'll serve our purposes. I'd like to avoid buying anything online, because it likely won't get to Newfoundland before I leave (I'm leaving for Toronto nearly a week before the con itself).
Perhaps we could pick up two, so we can have a couple Wiis up and running. Like I said before, I'll pay for the one - we'll need one for the Newfie room. _________________

I was asked/told by Jace to bring mine, I have Mario Party, Super Monkey Ball, and Rayman all can be up to 4 players. I will be getting Pokemon. I also have a slew of VC games (Mario Cart) and 4 WiiMotes/Numchucks but I don't have 4 VC controllers. Also I was thinking of bringing the PS3 but there are no good games for it (Ninja Gaiden looks promising, but it's not 4 player), anyone know anything 4 player and good coming out or out? |
Awesome... I was planning on bringing mine too -_-;;. I have the RF Mod and Wireless sensor bar plus Rayman and a slew of vc games (SMB, SMW, Ice Hockey, DKC, SF64, MK64, and yeah that's all I can think of). I only have 3 Wiimotes + Nunchucks and 2 Classic's though. However, I'm probably going to rent a video game from work before heading down there.

I found a friend to take Joe's place in our room ^_^ His name is Craig (Gyrick) and he's a big sweety who loves Mega Man! He's also into DnD, Final Fantasy, etc, so I think he'll fit in well! He'll drive up with me and Brandi, so we'll all be arriving at the same time. _________________ Sometimes I hear voices. Then I hang up the phone.

Pyo is referring to a card game, Legend of the Five Rings, which is abbreviated to L5R.
With all due respect, I hear L5R talk all too much from our friends here on the rock... I could use a vacation from it XD _________________

Sorry, I got out of MtG a long time ago. I quit it for L5R, actually. L5R's storyline and atmosphere is more enjoyable than MtG to me. _________________ (\ ºvº\ (\
