....Uhh, this came out last week and....o_o I was expecting some kind of discussion...
What did you guys think of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix? Yay or Nay?
I personally liked the acting of the movies, and while the shortening of the book IS always annoying, I think they did an okay job in that department.
Also they picked a nice spacey actress for Luna Lovegood XD _________________ The time is come. Bid farewell to your bloodstained past.

the thing that was missing in this movie is not really apparent to people who read the books but if you really notice, a lot of stuff goes unexplained or unfinished.
for example the prophecy, in the book it was explained to no end and hyped up to no end, but the movie didn't explain at all why Voldemort wanted it. Couple that with the missing classes, no quidditch, and lack of character development. I don't think it was a bad movie, not by a long shot, but if it was 3 hours long I think It would have benefited. That was a damn long book too, 700 pages, took me a good 12 hours to read first try.
on the positive side, the CGI integration with human actors is flawless, it's really come a long way in a few short years. Remember the full CG Harry from the first movie? God awful. |

the movie was pretty good. to me, it seems a bit better than the other HP movies so far. there didn't seem to be a whole lot missing, other than Quidditch.
i have to say, my favorite line was, "You have to admit, Dumbledore has got style." - Kingsley Shacklebolt. _________________ just call me xfyre. not xfyrethespooky. |

That one did amuse me. I believe the full line went like this:
You may hate him, and you may want him put behind bars, but you've got to admit, the man's got style
Or something like that.
Though one of my favorite parts was where Umbridge was being carried off by the centaurs and trying to get Harry to tell them that she wasn't a threat and he responded with "Sorry Professor, but I must not tell lies." _________________ The time is come. Bid farewell to your bloodstained past.

but the best line in the series still is
Ron: they make me tap dance and I don't want to tap dance
Harry: You tell those spiders Ron |

The movie was pretty good considering how much was actually cut out. The final scenes in the MoM were particually good. I was a bit disappointed in some aspects of the plot being overlooked or changed dramatically.
There's a mention of Vertiserum in the movie, but if you weren't paying attention in movie 4, you wouldn't know what that is. (truth potion, for those who want to know ) Also a new character who wasn't in the books was introduced, and an important one-off character was left out.
Is it too much to ask for an extra 20 minutes in a film to ensure that the quality story already existant in the books, is transfered over to the theatre screens?[/spoiler] _________________ "There is no coincidence, only Hitsuzen" Yuko, xxxHolic

I've been thinking about continuity and the next movie is going to have to be huge to encompass all the stuff this left out.
lots of stuff with cho were completely ignored and absolutely necessary, quidditch stuff was important, all the new players and stuff.
plus explanations and all the good parts from the department of mysteries
remember the brain and the baby face thing? |

Disappointed that quidditch was not there, and a few other things as well. But the movie was good. The fireworks was nicely done. |

I would've like it better if someone besides the boring trio got more than two lines. _________________
